I did not watch this show, but geez. Talk about not being given a chance. And we thought Firefly got it bad. So, you put a show up against the season premiere one of the highest rated shows on TV and expect it to do well? Outrageous.

Head Cases (the cancelled show) had Chris O'Donnell, who is a much bigger star than any of our BDHs, much as we love them.

I figure the next stage of development will be to cancel shows without airing ANY episodes, which will save all that filming expense, etc. . . .

Wow. That was fast. Yeah, no kidding, FF had it easy compared to that. I watched part of the first episode... I"d rate it so-so, but it was the pilot. Not many shows are stellar by pilot alone.

Fox is making quite a reputation for itself, isn't it? Hopefully actors who get their series picked up by Fox now and in the future will be smart enough to hold off buying their Malibu [dream] house.

It's all part of Fox's new plan to find the next "hit" show. See, they've tried the "spring" premieres. They've tried "summer" premieres. They've tried "early fall" [i.e., August] premieres.

Now they are going for the year-round premieres. Their development team will not stop, they'll develop new shows 365 days a year, then after they have a pilot will move on to the next show. This way they will always have shows to replace olds ones that weren't an instant hit.

New guy here. How long is before Bones gets the ax? That is why I am very hesitant to watch anything Fox puts out because just when I get into its gone. You know they have been trying to kill Arrested Development since day one. Not a fan of the show but I hope it does well just to spite Fox. I loved Firefly cancelled, loved Keane Eddie, cancelled. Those poor guys from Head Cases didn't deserve that.

Um, it's more the other way around. Arrested Development has never gotten great ratings but Fox has kept it on the air despite that. Not that I'm a fan of Fox but they have given Arrested Development a decent chance.

Yeah I guess youre right. I have calmed down from my tantrum towards Fox. It just seems like anything that is not a reality show or American Idol it gets cancelled. I understand they are in the busines of making money. When we look back on this era of t.v. what will we be left with. It is a good thing Lost is on ABC I love that show.

I actually watched both eps, and I didn't think it was all that bad. It needed some polish, maybe some time to hit its stride, but it could have gotten there.
Fox's problem is that unless a show comes out with massive numbers instantly, it dies. And what do you expect given what it was up against? A hit UPN show, Martha's new show, and Lost. Why even air it? Jesus, against that you might as well run those colored bars that say a staion is off the air, because you aren't going to have any viewers anyway.
NBC is flagging on Thursdays now. Why not try it then? Or Mondays even, when there also isn't much on. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how the matchup of ANYNEWSHOW vs. LOST is going to turn out.
Which is how we know geniuses don't work for Fox.

I thought head cases seemed to lack in plot when i saw the ads for it... never did watch it... and now... TWO eps!? Wondefalls only got four, so I suppose two is the next step....

But OMG, I didnt realize how much I liked BONES until you made this post, and I thought NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not again! those

canceled bones!? Well, thats too bad for headcases, frankly it's a tragedy because it is the end of a scripted show, if nothing else. THen again, at least it lost to 'Lost', a different scripted show.

(never really got into lost.... watched the first few eps of the first seaon, but nothing clicked: Lord of the Flies meets Jurassic Park just didnt thrill me at the time)

Anyhoo.... I like Bones. :) (boney spoilers)

The second ep was really good i thought... the last scene where boreanaz has to go back to his sniper days, and he hesitates because he needs a face, he is insecure like that. good stuff.

I did watch it. I liked the concept and I've always liked Adam Goldberg. It wasn't a great show but I was surprised that I was willing to watch at least one more episode. Guess I don't have to worry about that.

But here's what I think FOX should do. They shouldn't create new shows--just advertisments for them. Make up scenes for TV spots, do print campaigns in TV Guide, etc., give the day and time. And then in time slot they said the show was going to be on just show a fishes in a tank or a fireplace or something like that but still interrupt it with commercials.

Their ad revenue will be a lot lower, but since the "shows" will cost virtually nothing, they'll have a very wide profit margin.

This way if they come up with a "show" that looks interesting, we'll know not to watch. We could even play along. We could start a "Save our Show" petition for it.

That being said, we do have to admit they've supported ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. So that gives them a ratio of what? 1 to 25? Something like that?

lost is so retarded. the whole first season could be condensed into one two hour movie, if not a one hour. nothing ever happens, they just put drips and drabs of story out there to keep the wheels greased and fill in the rest with flash backs and character development. now i love character development as much as the next guy, but thats to much.
