I caught a sneak peek of Serenity on Wednesday night, and I really liked the film. However, even though I really enjoyed the film (I'll probably go see it this weekend again), I didn't think it was good enough to bring in the millions of people we were hoping for. I think it plays great to Firefly fans and will convert many new fans, but just not enough new fans.

I think with it's modest budget, we should be able to do enough business to get a sequel. But I don't think it's enough to keep the movie in theatres for weeks on end. At the screening I was at, a fellow browncoat mentioned that the movie should have opened in April - that way it could have played all summer. I don't think it would have lasted much passed the release of Star Wars. I do think it has a much better shot at sticking around through October than it would have through May.

Our screening in Nashville had two theatres reserved. They never opened the second one because the first only filled up to about 70%. And this was a FREE screening.

I think that movie Into The Blue looks like absolute crap, but I almost would not be surprised if it opened at #1 this weekend.

Again, I'm not trying to bash the film. I thought it was a fun adventure. But I didn't think it was spectacular, and I think we need "Spectacular" to bring in the unwashed masses.

I'm sure many of you disagree, and I do hope I'm wrong! I would love to see Serenity bring in 200+ Million in it's theatrical run! I'm just not convinced it will go much past 60-80 million.

I am looking forward to seeing th Boxoffice results on Sunday!

Hello Kimbers,

I have to agree with you. The movie was okay but not as good as I expected. It was jerky. Too much time on character development and not enough plot development. (An unusual comment I know but you don't need to know everyone life story in a movie or for that matter in a great play. What did Hamlet's mother cousin think of Juliet? who cares!)

I am not going to get specific because of spoilers but is seemed there was a 'theme' but it was not clear what that was supposed to be. Also it was predictable. I am sure most fans will love it but I guess I expected better.

It looked like a long episode of a tv show. Not the MOVIE EVENT I was hoping for.

I haven't seen the movie yet (will first showing it has here), but I haven't been putting my expectations too high. No more higher than expecting it to be more like a 2 hour special episode than an actual movie. I don't know... I guess that is kind of cuz I don't see how this wasn't made into a 3 hour movie? I'm expecting to find out what happens with the love interest between Kaylee and Simon as well as Mal and Inara. Also what's up with the Blue Hands and ofcourse, exactly what was all done to River. As well as any other mysteries that were left hanging from the short lived Firefly.

I think the only way I'll truely be dissapointed with the movie at all (besides it not being atleast 3 hours long)is if the movie doesn't answer all the questions I've had from watching Firefly. I don't really have much fear that it won't fill me in on every thing, but I haven't seen the Blue Hands in any previews or mentioned at all. DONT TELL ME! But I just hope they are in the movie and we learn all about them.

Oh plus an ending that leaves us hanging for some speculation on the future of this franchise. Hopefully for either another movie or another season.

I wouldn't say I was disappointed at all. I had a great time watching it. It actually felt like a real movie, not like a 2 hour version of the TV show. And yes, the movie does answer a lot of questions - not all. But it answers some questions i didn't even realize I had!

I just think it is a great film for fans of Firefly, but I think to the general public it will just be mediocre.

Again it's not a real criticism of the film, I get the sense that Joss wanted to expand the fan base but really cared most about giving existing fans a great film.

I am curious to see how the general public reacts!

I hope Joss wasn't thinking about what the general public would want. Or atleast not as much as thinking about what the fans want. After all this movie may not of been made if it wasn't for us Browncoats.

Anyways as long as all the main big questions are answered I'll be happy. Mainly curious about the Blue Hands and what will happen with the love interest between Kaylee and Simon. Oh and the Reavers, but I know they are in there and actually get to see them! And ofcourse wonder what the big secret is that River knows....

nearly just 12 hours away till the first showing of it here! Maybe I should go to bed now so I can wake up, shower, go watch Serenity!

Yeah time will pass a lot faster if I sleep. G'Night.

Well... just remember this is Joss...

Anyway, I'm sure you will enjoy it! It is a very fun movie.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm not sure we saw the same movie, even though I will admit that my second time I enjoyed it much more.

Too much character development and not plot? Exactly the opposite of what I experienced.

We don't have to do $200 million, although that would be great, cause 60-80 mil in the U.S. is really all we need. The rest of the world, and the dvd sales, will be more than enough to convince Universal to greenlight sequels.

Allow me to correct you - Adam told us at Dragon Con the movie needs to make $80 million WORLDWIDE to get the sequels going. (As Eddie Izzard) "Much easier!"

MAL: If anyone gets nosy, just, you know... shoot 'em.
ZOE: Shoot 'em?
MAL: Politely.
