Anybody else had Firefly related dreams? I had a few a while back... one that had Mal in it, and one that had Wash and Zoe in some wierd closet with a bunch of mechanical stuff... then I had one last night about some people from the board! I don't remember what it was about, except that it was in an auditorium... and Sarah was there, and Maniac was there, and Kathryn was there, and Saint of Cheese! I think there were others too, but I can't remember too well.

This could become a rite of passage, you're not really one of us until you've been in someone’s dream. Course that would mean that I’m not one of us yet.

Jeez, you have dreams about a television show?? Man, I'd never admit something like that.... even if it was true. Which it isn't. Really.

The only person I've ever had a Firefly fans dream about is Talrius. Does that seem right to you?

Oh, me dream about Firefly? All the time. Well, just about a certain Firefly doctor.

I had a dream with all of you Browncoats in it a few weeks ago though. We had a party and you trashed my house. It was fun. Sarah, you and I played ping pong and HFK and Tal were throwing the balls at one another all night. Melee was lighting candles and had Mr. Fluff under her arm while Lerxst was sitting with a bunch of those goblins from Labyrinth eating potato chips. It gets pretty fuzzy past that.

Woo Hoo! Partying with the goblins!

The other night I dreamt I was back on the ship, on Roving Electrician watch. For you non-squids, that means tour the Engineering spaces every so often, taking gauge readings, checking motor temps, etc. Anyway, I go down to one of the Emergency Diesel rooms and there's Kaylee elbow-deep in one of the engines. The weird part was it didn't strike me as being out of the ordinary. We just say 'hi' and I went on about my business.

I seem to have alot of dreams of Firefly. It's usually parts of episodes randomly arranged. I get alot of the western imagery and the occasional gun fights. I had a dream about you too the other night dear. We were in a junkyard working on a van that could get 12,000 miles to the gallon (hey, it was a dream, allright?) and then Alliance officers showed up to try and stop us. I'm trying to remember more but they get kinda fuzzy after a few days. Had another one kinda like your party dream where we were watching Firefly together on a big fluffy couch in a very dark room. Man, this dream stuff can get real weird at times. I wish I could invent a dream recorder and play them back when I'm awake to see what happens.

Xin gan, next time you have a really great dream, write it down once you wake up. That's the time when it's clearest in your mind, and then you'll never forget it.

Had one a while ago. It was one of those dream with tons of people you know but never see anymore in real life, but in the dream you're all together and it seems normal. We were all aboard Serenity - it was the ship, its regular rooms and layout and 'feel', but none of the crew. Don't remember anything else about it though.

When I saw this thread I have to admit I thought y'all were sort of strange, but I have been converted. That's right. Joss has kept his promise to invade my dreams.
I dreamt Simon was my boyfriend and I took him home to meet my (actual) father who had a somewhat Jayne-like attitude towards him. He felt I should be with Mal or somebody and I was like "Dad, Simon ain't weak, even Mal says so. Take off your shirt Simon. Now look at that muscle tone!"
And that was about the end of it. Crazy, huh? To recap: Simon took off his shirt but I didn't get to make out with him and my father was there .
I am hesitant to enquire about the Freudian implications of that production.

Freudian implications are usually wrong. Often a dream is just a dream, and when it's not do you really think that the guy who spawned the terms penis envy (the theory that everything that a woman does in life is to make up for her lack of penis), anal retentive (the belief that children don’t want to poop because they will be losing something that belongs to them, the feces, and many people carry that attitude throughout their entire lives) and the Oedipus complex (named after Greek tragedy, theory states that all males want to kill their father and have sex with there mother, it is of note that this is far more perverse than the tragedy because Oedipus didn’t know what he was doing-it all happened because he was trying to avoid that very thing) is qualified to analyze your dream?

The last sentence makes sense, if you didn’t get it read it again.

Okay, just had another one this morning and it's somewhat clear. Kaythryn and I had a big old house and on the top level it was us with Lerxst, Dutch, Satyr/Poptart, and Maguinan. On the lower level Xen lived there with Sarah and various other browncoats (it was a big house). Then we got married by Haken (didn't look like the one in Succatash's vids tho') and it was broadcast on live t.v. and the crew from Serenity was there to wish us well. After the wedding ended (8:00) the network showed Firefly and we went to Las Vegas for the honeymoon but thats about when I woke up. I left out a few details to keep this short and because I must be going crazy.

Also, Chris, thank you for warning people not to analyze their dreams because that would only make us go even crazier (if that were possible). Keep dreaming everyone.

I am very happy I get to live with Xen cos she is shiny. I would like to be closer to Lerx, who is Washy.

I had a Matrix/Firefly crossover dream again. Several of us (Hottie and Kayt are the only ones I can distinctly remember--they had matching Hawaiian shirts) were trying to unlock the Firefly matrix where if we just figured out which choice to change, we could prevent the cancellation. We did not achieve the goal, but it was pretty interesting. I was very optimistic when I woke up.

Actually, the last sentence doesn't make a whole lot of sense, as grammar and punctuation seem to be used according to non-traditional rules (see "there mother", comma splice, missing articles, run-on sentence, missing commas, em-/en-dash confusion, et al.). Additionally, your "evidence" that Freud is unqualified to analyze dreams would seem to support the very opposite position, as these terms are widely accepted by the profession and are still in use today. As to your first clause, even Freud joked, "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

I am well aware of the cigar quotation as I am also aware that thought the terms penis envy, Oedipus complex, and anal retentive are still used. I hope that you are not a student of psychology or psychiatry because if you are you should know that these terms are used, but their meanings are completely different. Freud based his just about entire opinion of the human race on four mentally disturbed women. There is no section of modern psychiatry which was not influenced by him, but the only parts of his teachings that haven’t been discredited repeatedly and accepted as wrong by the majority of the profession as false are the dream interpretations.

Translation for you:
-I am well aware of the cigar quotation
-I am aware that such terms are still in use
-You should know that though the terms are used their meanings and implications have been changed.
--If you are a student of “the profession” than you can’t be a very good student
-Freud based much of his beliefs on four disturbed women
-He has influenced the whole of “the profession”
--However everything which he has said has been discredited
---His take on dream interpretation is the only one that has not been accepted as wrong by the majority of “the profession.”

If you need it broken down further I’m sure that someone else will be willing to help.

You are correct about the use of there instead of their, however the sentence isn’t a run-on. Though it was certainly not the most well written sentence ever, is not a run on. In fact as sentences go it isn’t even that long (see a school teacher and, should they be unable to convince you, read Mark Twain.)

I didn’t try to write it well, I instead aimed at it being good. In the bigger picture I think it would be hard for you to say that well is a better thing to shoot for than good.

Something to remember is that just because something is discredited does not mean that it is necessarily accepted by most as incorrect.

Well, as should be obvious from the wickedly catty nature of my first post, I disagree with you. But that's okay, and, upon reflection, I realize that I layed into you a little more harshly than you probably deserved. Picking on your grammar was unfair, and your post does reflect a little more thought and intelligence than most of the dah bien out there. I don't think we can argue/discuss (intelligently) anymore because I got all offensive and stuff, so I'll apologize and wait for the next time we disagree...which probably won't be too long.

Wow. People at FF.net sure take their Freud seriously. I was just funnin' with y'all. Personally I'm more of the "dreams are just a result of various regions of your brain being randomly activated" school myself but, then again, I've always found chaos reassuring.

So far I have only had the one that I posted in the "What made you think of Firefly" thread. I'll copy it here......

Quote:

I had a dream today. Details are a bit fuzzy, but it seems as though I was part of the crew. I think I may have been Kaylee.

We were in a town and it was busy. We were sort of caravanning goods in a line of vehicles through crowded streets. I was riding with Wash. All of a sudden we could see purple smoke coming from the vehicle in front of us. I knew something bad was about to happen so I yanked Wash down in the seat before an explosion went off. When it blew our vehicle went flying sideways into a building. We were scratched and bruised, but ok none the less. The first thing we did was start to look for the rest of the crew. We found Jayne and Book right away since they had been right behind us. (I think River, Simon, and Inara were still on the ship because we didn’t look for them) Mal and Zoe were no where to be seen.

We all started to look through the crowd. Some were only minorly hurt, and some lay dead. It took forever and I was getting deathly worried because there was still no sign of them. Finally we spotted Mal and Zoe sitting in a building with a group of people injured from the blast. They were being treated for minor injuries. I was so relieved that they were ok. I ran right up to Mal, hugged him, kissed him, started crying, and held onto him like I was never going to let him go. I was so afraid he had been killed.

Then I woke up…………(dammit)
