Depending on your interest, the speed of light could be a factor.

I really like the new mule a lot.
The tiered seats (and the goggles) make it looks like a touring car from 1900, it hovers-how cool is that, it kicks butt on the reavers' panther-lookin' 57 Chevy, you can smash it into rock formations without apparent damage or destabilization, and it's painted safety yellow for the completely absurd look of a souped up forklift.

Bright 'n shiny cap'n, not to fret.

I wish I had a souped up forklift...sigh.

Speaking of...steak tonight. I don't think it's horse, but you can never be sure until to bite into it. I like horses as much as the next person, but hey, meat is meat. okay, they run a bit too much to be super yummy. But, i'm not too picky. If i'm goona eat a cow why not a Hound or a Palomino too, right? It's not like they're our main mode of transportation. We don't have to be any nicer to horses than we do cows. Really, dogs are the best option...they're everywhere....and every town has those free little dog stores...they'll even let you pick out a dog and they offer to put it down for you....Mmmm, dog over a fire pit....

Speaking of Duke, the new G.I. Joe series is really starting to grow on me. Sure it's not as cool as the Devil's Due comic books, and it's a bit too SF to be "real" Joes, but it's still kinda cool. Good to see Studio Gonzo hasn't completely lost their touch.

Horse meat is inedible. Cowboys and Injuns never ate horsemeat. Not unless it was absolute last option and grubworms and insects as a "Plan B" were nowhere to be found. They'd have rather chewed on dusty cactus and wash it down with a cup of crumbled saltine crackers mixed with a generous helping of desert sand.

Dogs on the other hand are reputed to be nearly as tasty as cats. Ask them gorram'd orignators of words like "gorram".

Cows make for good eatin. Can't exactly put a saddle on them and ride 'em around. Them cud-chewin T-bone wannabees' are still cute and have that whole heart-warming "moo" thing goin on.

The other 3/4's was largely composed of nickels, dimes, and dog food (and whatnot).

I sent my Kibbles-N-Bits quarter horse off to the ole' glue factory in the sky. Leftovers prolly found their way into a bag of dog food.

Not being humorous-ific. Being buttugly truthful. Well, truthful in a semi-semantic sort of way ~ that horse is now worm food... would never desecrate my pet in death like that while most others would. A horse is nothing more than a big dog, just as loyal, just as smart, and equally playful (cept you don't wanna get in front of those frontal hooves when it rears back and wants to wrestle ~ certain death or brain damage).

Cats are pets for people who don't have time for pets. You ignore them, and they ignore you. They are watered-down de-evolved mirrors of the big kittykats of deepest darkest North Africa. Cats can rub up against you and purr a whole lot but they ain't worth a damn beyond that.

A dog and/or a horse will follow you into the bowels of hell, and remain loyal to any fault... including death.

Try and get a cat to follow you off a cliff in a moment of absolute "no-other-options" and it'll be rubbing up and purring on the person who drove you off that cliff when you're a big red splotch on the jagged rocks below. Think I'd rather die with my leg-humping mutt then die alone while my traitor cat fondles my killer.

Once I had a cat who would go for walks (no leash) and played a mean game of psychic fetch (I would hide the crackley paper, then send to her where it was). But in general I agree that dogs are more interactive, up for anything, and you always get to decide what's next. Horses can be as much fun as my cat with the psychic fetch, and they are also sweet and cuddly-loyal like dogs. So me, I'll have one of each, and the cat can stay at home and guard the cabin against a mouse attack, while the horse, the dog and I go rocketing off the cliff in pursuit of truth and justice.
