I'll Take This as a Good Sign...

A couple days ago, I was at Best Buy, where I'd bought my Firefly DVD set a couple months back. When I bought it, they had ONE copy on the shelf, and the slot for Firefly was exactly one slot's worth; in other words, they weren't going to carry more than 4 copies (1 wide, 4 deep) on their shelves, maximum. Anyway, I was back in that store yesterday, and their Firefly section is now fully stocked! Yup - it's five copies wide on the shelf, and four deep. Best of all, it looked like they were sold down by about half. Seems at least a few people have been converted by the movie and the Sci-Fi Channel's airings!

Best of all, I was in Target today, and they had three copies of the Firefly DVD set as well. I'd looked there first, way back when, but they didn't even carry it at that time. Looks like there's a fresh demand for our BDH at the video store! :)

I could be crazy, or off the mark, or just reading into things, but it seems to me that Firefly, Serenity, and SciFi have definitely gotten some attention, at least from major retailers of DVDs. A show that I had to search for a couple months ago is now in stock seemingly everywhere I look. Hope it's posting great sales numbers; I'm sure Serenity will when the DVD is released just in time for Xmas.

At BB yesterday they had The Firefly dvds 5 or 6 wide in the new release section!!!

They had about 8 copies on the main shelving under television section.

Then a totally seperate section about 20 copies.

I hope they sell out! :)

I think the movie and the recent airing on Sci-Fi has helped alot, but it's also Christmas season, so most retailers are stocking up for next weekends buying blitz anyway.

I'm sure that the fact that those of us who don't wear Alliance colors have been promoting them as Holiday gift items for a while now hasn't hurt the cause!
