Ok I'm regaining my wits (but only temporarily). Battle is joined...

BlackEyedGirl... You have a "spanking" of the ass incoming ("whipping" is just to uber compared to spanking). Don't worry, it'll involve spatulas and germans (accents and all ~ you're the only interesting female dissenter in this whole thread, which is why you got singled out. But I release you from that ominous role cuz it's just too damned Lexx).

As an aside... this whole E-harmony thing is very disturbing. It's a virtual dating service, and some of you have been rejected?

By what and by whom?

Kneel down and conform immediately. You are unfit for reproduction. Hmm perhaps this thread is, afterall, some kind of lost wayward souls dating service for you. Find your soulmate in the postings here. Or, go and conform, let e-harmony determine you fit to contribute to the gene pool. Approaching 7 billion people, but you maybe aren't fit. Maybe you just might need their approval. I'll have to pay closer attention to their commercials next time and discover if I'm worthy of the collective gene pool. May my spermatazoa mix with your egg? Only if that guy in the TV commercials says so.

I'm not worthy.

Scorpionregent... I'll deal with you later. Yawn one more time for us before you whine about what a horrid world the mating matrix is. Someone give that guy a sword and shield. "Fear not M'lady, for I shall save you! Please... paint my toenails if it pleases you!"

and here I am thinking chivalry is dead...

Maybe this could be retroactive mandatory reading?

I can't keep up with ya'll.

You know, I feel sorry for River. Everyone in FireFly had someone, or had a not someone or something, Mal + Inara, Simon + Kaylee, of course Wash + Zoe, even Jayne had Vera (match made in heaven) and the odd extra-Armorital relationship.

Who's River got?
I suppose there's Jubal, but he's kind of spaced...

I could share a world of interesting stuff with all of you...

Ugly has new levels of lowness. I should post copies of private messages I get, but better to sit on them and keep you all innocent. I couldn't imagine how twisted and warped people's minds could be till I saw the stuff they sent me in private mail.

I have no doubt that in time some of them will regret their words, and hence, redeem themselves by setting it right again. Redemption.

What an education I get here.

0g: Hey if you're going to post the private E-mail I sent to you on the open thread then so be it. Don't think that I didn't consider that you might. I chose to take a personal dispute off the thread out of respect and courtesy to all here. If you drag it back in what does that say about you? If you think you can shame me into some sort of apology, you need to wake up and smell the coffee. I said what I meant and I meant what I said. It wasn't intended for the thread, it was intended for you. I figured that as you have been generally rude, obnoxious, vulgar and inconsiderate; I chose to use language you might understand. Got your attention didn't I? Maybe touched a nerve? Possibly hurt your feelings? How does it feel to be on the receiving end for a change? How you think you have the moral high ground is a mystery to me. Judge not lest ye be judged. If you continue to behave like a raving, anti-social, self-absorbed, child you'll find no one's going to treat you with anything other than contempt. If you want respect start earning it. It's your choice. I honestly couldn't care less if you dropped dead.

Blackeyedgirl: If this all goes terribly wrong, my offer still stands, you have only to ask and I will leave the thread.

Karel! Hey, Good to have ya aboard the hidey random tree thingy. The tree has far too much history for me to try to catch up, and random took off before I realized what was going on. This is the only place I feel I got in "on the ground floor". hope it continues, it can be fun. If I don't see you back here, I check the usual place. Cheers,

So now I am home, where I have things like Broadband access, and oh lordy, it's a good thing! Now I deal with you all one on one:

Cozen: Excellent post! Please stick around and share some more!

CallMeSerenity & ReallyKaylee: Talk Like a Pirate Day!! YAY!! Or should I say, ARGGG!!

Orpheus: Welcome to the party. Ignore the spats, and join the fun. New chimers are always welcome!

XeroGravity: A spanking? How do you know I won't like that? I mean some girls are into that sort of thing... One man's toture is another man's heaven...

Karel: Welcome to the Hidey Place, we are insane, but most of the time we are really fun. Stick around, it's just about to get interesting (oh god oh god we're all gonna die!), share your story, your lament and maybe Jayne will drop money on you (or some milk)

LMD: I think I speak for both Mai and myself when I say, wow, you think we've been elevated to Tree or Team Random Status? AWESOME!! Grab your towel guys, we're going for a ride!

BruisersMom: Welcome back! I find the personal ads to be hi-larious.

Citizen: I too always felt bad for lonely lonely River. I have a friend who wrote fanfiction where she hooks up with Badger. I also thought her and Jayne might make quite the pair. But I'm kinda nuts.

JadeHand: The ground floor? This is gonna be one hell of a sky scraper now ain't it? Glad to see you made it back.

Where did everyone else go? Have they been frightened off by some of the unsavoryness? Come back friends! Come back!! We miss you!!!

BTW: This thread is so making it into my really late Thanksgiving blog post about things I am thankful for. Cos this thread keeps me in stitches and always thinking. Ya'll have given me the hope that I am not a freak (well I am, but not in that eww, flee!! kind of way), and that we are all in the same boat. Love keeps a ship in the air, and I think we've got enough to get us to Boros.

Remember, we're all looking for the same thing, we all just got different ways of looking for it.

Everytime I get back to this thread I am reminded of Kaylee and her "I love meetin' new people, they all gots stories" (not a direct quote and I'm not gonna cheat with a transcript) cos we all gots stories on here.

I'm trying to bring the fun and the love back to this thread. If ya'll wanna fight, make your own thread entitled "the hidey place of angry boys" or "firefy fight club" or some crap, cos I hate it when people aren't having a nice time.

A big sorry to anyone I didn't give a 'shout-out' too (I have been warned I am too white to say shout out but I defy them!!)!

I now ask a very important question: Who would win in a fight: Caveman or Astronaut? (Wink to Angel Fans)

-BEG out

Oh yeah I almost forgot: Man-Whore (mixing it up now!)

ScorpionRegent: You keep this thread kickin' so don't leave now, cos you might just get your feet washed by some lovely lady! Sorry, I am so lame tonight!

I have to agree here. This should be a place for fun. I think. I'm enjoying it. Is that wrong? If it's not fun for you, well, no one(I hope) is forcing you to read it. There are plenty of other threads to read. I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to post your disagreements, Freedom and all that, is what Firefly is all about after all. Just keep it civil if at all possible. If you feel you can't keep it civil, then you're emotional about it. Try waiting an hour then coming back to it.
Posting private messages = Not cool. It won't serve the purpose you think. I like these threads and respectfully request that we keep 'em clean, well civil maybe, maybe not so much with the clean.
Let the fun continue.
Cheers all,
JadeHand

Yeah, when I say no fighting, I mean NOTHING PERSONAL. We've been play fighting around here for some time, and that's fun. But gettin' mean on someone, that's just not cool.

I've been having a blast on this thread. If someone isn't I hope no one is tying them to a chair and opening their eyes ala A Clockwork Orange and making them read this (and the orginal) thread, cos that'd be upsetting.

Going to go with Caveman, 'cause the astronaut has that big bulky suit on and can't see the caveman coming up behind him with a big stick. Unless they're in space then well, astronaut has his suit and the caveman, well not so much with the breathing.

I generally go with Caveman too, cos they have clubs, and growl and drag girls around by their hair. Astronauts would be busy planning a strategy and then, BAM! clubbed in the head, and dragged away. Ahh good times.

BTW: Jadehand, what exactly is in this bag of tricks? ::wink::

I thought of another fun way to bring everyone back on board:

Where are you from? (seems like there are a lot of NC browncoats around here, you guys just this friendly? or is NC where lonely hearts go to die? j/k!!)

I'm from a not so important planet going around an even more unremarkable star... Actually I'm from Wisconsin, yes this is the place where people wear cheese on their heads (I wear the cheese, it does not wear me, okay I wear no cheese). I live in Northcentral Wisconsin, which means, it's not hell, but you can see it from here, and hell? Yeah it's cold.

Apparently it's where lonely hearts are born (and I should know).

But now that I think about it, I know very few people actually from NC. Most of my friends moved here from up north or out west. Weird.

Maybe not quite, but we're definitely top three material ;D. Of course people can belong to more than one...(I never seem to have the time for the tree ;( ).

I'm thankful for this thread, too, among many other like things. I'm doing better than I have in a long, long time, and I attribute it to the people forcing me to actually see what I already knew needed to be done. Thanks to many of you, but thanks BEG, foremost.

I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I live in Western New York. I pretty much hate it here, but all my extended family lives in this area. I'd go back to live in Oklahoma in a heartbeat if that wasn't so. Oh well...

ps - finished the content management system for my blog today (word!), so it shouldn't be more than a week before I get it up (only work on it during spare time at work). After that I'll look at the whole firefly dating thing if anyone's really interested (I like practicing my php/mysql).

You really want to know? You really have to ask? We might have to put a NC-17 warning on the third floor of this skyscraper in the making. I was putting together a bag when I started to explore the scene, but never really let myself in. so it never got broken in. Never met anyone that really fit.

Cavemen. Same reasons Spike gave: they're primitive. Astronauts are too civilized to have much in the way of killer instinct. Savagery tends to be looked down on in the hard science disciplines.

Which perhaps explains the rarity of my favourite fictional archetype: the Warrior-Scientist.

We've heard of the Warrior-Poet, the Warrior-Priest, the Warrior-Philosopher, but I want to see a scientist schooled in the combat arts.

Only ones I know of currently are Daniel Jackson & Sam Carter (from SG-1).

We all know those cuffs can be released easily...
Well I know because my god daughter (3yr old) found some 'toys' in mummy and daddy's room and insisted on showing them off to me.

In front of them.

Ahhh, they'll NEVER live that one down...

*evil, see*

Ah, fun.
No, these require a key. Play, is about trust, what good are cuffs that you can release yourself?
There are the silk ties, and ropes of course to lead up to the cuffs. Trust can be scary, it's part of the fun.

I'm back, finally, and thanks to B.E.G. for startin' up a new thread! It was taking too long for my poor little dialup connection to load!

I'm glad to see everyone is having fun with this secret hidey place. I too have tried all sorts of dating services, blind dates, etc. etc. I'm a big LOTR fan and they have their own matchmaking website called samlovesrosie.com, so we're not the first fandom to think this is a good idea.

The only name I could think of was "FindYourFire.com" or something like that.

Interesting thread.

I remember reading an article about eHarmony.com and its founder, who is a born again Christian. I am not saying anything against him but he did say that he slants his matches towards those who match his values. So if you were told there were no matches for you, it means you don't fall into the mold of the born again very well.

Scary! That's good to know. I'll just assume eharmony rejection and save myself the time.

I need to get internet at home. 4 days away, and I get back and y'all are talking bondage! What happened?

I gave eHarmony a look a few months ago. Filled out their whole profile thing and all that. But then I realized that it was gonna cost me money. That's something I just don't want to spend cash on.

Now I wish I'd never gone there, because they keep emailing me crap, and they won't stop.

Oh no! I don't fit into the Born again mold!

Aren't they the extremist fringe of Christianity or something?

Or is that Mormons?

Did everyone see the news item a week or so ago about Match.com and how people are suing it because Match.com hires people to go on dates with subscribers so that they will continue their subscription? I don't trust those huge matchmaking websites for just that reason: all they want is money.

Hugs, Smacks, they both work.
Just being my sweet, evil self. Just having some fun. It's why they call it "play".

On an equally serious note: Thanks to everyone in these threads. These exchanges have helped decrease my negativity. Hope it continues, I'm having fun.

Can't say as I know you nut jobs well enough to make THAT call ... Good or bad, it sure is entertaining.

Hey, who was talking SCA? You got me feeling medieval, I brewed mead over the weekend. All I need is a corset-y gown and a shiny hat! And a knight on a horse, no armor required.

Not all are extremist. Exetremist can be found in almost any group. I hope I was never an extremist. So, if I was born again, and I don't feel it anymore....Am I Dead Again?
I think it's fine that they have a Christian Dating Service. I just think they should advertise it as such, so people who aren't looking for that don't waste their time and/or come away with a rejection from the service. Add to the pain why don't you. *shrugs*

Jadehand: Yay to more positive and less negative! Crunchies for everyone!!!

I think we're jumping to conclusions by saying that because e-harmony is run by a Christian that people are being rejected because they aren't. I don't think that's how e-H works. I think if was it was exclusively a Christian Dating service it would advertise as so, don't you think?

And I hadn't heard that about match.com. Got an article or something to read? That would be interesting!

Query: What should I have done when a guy I asked a question to yesterday stopped midsentence and stared at my mouth?

Nut jobs? Nut Jobs!? well, if I weren't such a nut job I might feel something about that.
I was one of the people taking about SCA, Haven't been in years, kinda worried I might run into someone there, but hey it's been more than 10 years. I shouldn't let that stop me.
Corset eh? See the bondage thing is already rubbing off on ya. It's ok, it's really not a bad thing, don't let the Alliance convince ya different.

btw, if it's not obvious, I would never call anyone a name that didn't aptly apply to me.

Ha ha ha.

Context: I was at Target, looking for something. He was stocking extension cords.

I walked up to him and said "Excuse me, do you know where I could find drain covers?" (very exciting pick up line, I know) and he said "Drain covers? I think they're in aisle...." and kinda faded away.

And also let me add that he was not unattractive, nor did he seem all creepy and perverted. And he was in his later 20s, not some skeezy 16 year old (no offense to any skeezy 16 year olds out there.)

Did he look confused or distracted?
Maybe he couldn't remember where they were. Maybe he was caught off guard. But, if you were trying to pick him up, "Excuse me, do you know where I could find drain covers?" Get's a one sentence response. (or in this case less). "Can you show me where the drain covers are?" Might have gotten more. At least some small talk during the walk to whereever the drain covers are. Maybe enough time to find out if you were really interested.
Hmmm...crunchies.

CallMeSerenity, there's a couple different articles:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2005-11-24-online-dating_x.htm

http://metimes.com/articles/normal.php?StoryID=20051121-064045-2540r

Bascially, the match.com people allegedly hired people to go on dates with subscribers in order to encourage them to keep paying for their subscription. And allegedly Yahoo Personals used the profile of the same person for many different cities. I can't find the exact article I read, but apparently a guy went out on a date with a girl who told him she was working for match.com, so he sued.

*sigh* As if we need this kind of stuff when it's already so hard to find someone!
