Ha, as much as everyone probably thinks I'm a tight-ass for the views I've presented in this thread, I could be considered a "freak" with my labret piercing and some past hair styles. I get misjudged a lot on first sight, especially when I had really long hair. People always think I'm the stereotypical druggie no-morals person. They're often shocked to find their judgements utterly at odds with the truth ;p

Yes, there is an irresistable quality, and like jadehand said it has to be confidence. I know when I'm with someone nothing can stop me. I'm just the person I'm supposed to be. That's attractive.

This is somewhat touchy...it's something I've struggled with in the past (and still do to a point, getting much better). It kills me to know the girl I'm with has been with someone before me. I wish I could take away being with the two girls I've been with.

It's odd...my last gf had I daughter I eventually came to call mine. There's no surer sign of being with someone else than a kid, so I thought I'd have a hard time ever dealing with a child from my partner that didn't come from me. In the end, though, I loved that little girl like she was my own and often find myself wondering and worrying about her. I got a call from her school nurse the other day and was worried all day until I could get a hold of the exgf. I can't believe after all this time some people still call me looking for her, haha.

I know, and I completely agree with you. I just had a girl staying at my house for a few nights because her (now) ex bf was a super jealous type. He flipped out on her, and she called the cops the next day. She's since awaken to being choked by him and having her son threatened and taken by him. Her friends have been threatened, too.

I do understand it to a point, though. I'm a jealous person as I've admitted. I've made huge strides on that issue recently, but an issue it remains.

As far as physical abuse, my first gf was physically abusive to me. She liked to bite me and give me these aweful pinches. I always had bruises all over my body. I let her do it because I knew it was something she enjoyed. Prolly a bad idea.

It seems most girls I know have been abused, unfortunately. I remember one morning my second gf and I were horsin' around after we woke up, and when she put a finger in my ear I threw my elbows and one hit her in the forehead (i can't stand fingers in my ear, reflex). It took me over an hour to get her to uncover her face. She just kept saying she was sorry and she knew it was her fault and stuff like that. I felt so bad that morning. It was then that she told me about how abusive her last bf had been and figured here it goes again when she got elbowed. She'd also had her kid threatened and taken, as well =/

Ah, this has been a sore point in the past. I've always made it a point that no one should date any serious ex of anyone close to them. I've been kept from seeing girls because of this, as I won't date someone who's been with a close friend or anyone in my family. I think I won't because I couldn't stand it if an ex of mine was with a close friend. It would drive me nuts.

Yeah, it's bad. I was like this after my first gf cheated on me which is why we broke that off. I couldn't trust her anymore (obviously). Since her I've had serious trust issues and thoughts of infidelity at any absence of the other. It wouldn't have been as bad, though, if when my second gf was away for any appreciable amount of time it was at the bar with her friends for hours and hours. I have an extreme distrust for bars, I guess. It didn't help that all of her friends cheated on their husbands regularly and she didn't mind helping initiate conversations between her gfs and the guys they wanted. When she went out to eat or go to more tame social functions I wasn't nearly as worried (or even at all in a lot of cases).

It is kinda nice being serious a bit. Makes the goofy more fun. Add that to the list of things I've learned from Joss.

Yeah, it's rough. It really is a horrible problem. A lot of emotional abusers are often as abusive or more so to themselves than they are even to their partners.

Serious is good...life is all dynamics. Without sorrow there could be no great joy.

Your right, not a relationship, but the closest thing I've had, possibly will have I don't know.
I met her at uni while she was visiting a mutual friend, it lasted a few days, she went home.

Spoke a couple of times after that, that's it.

Ask Dr. Science ... he knows more than you do.

"I have a Master's degree ... in science!"

This parrallel thread thing is just a bad idea. Forget I ever mentioned it.

Hell! swear and spit all you want, run wild and naked in the streets, disregard everything that makes you human and desecrate your flesh and slay, rape, canabalize and flay all who stand in your path,...WHOA!,...WHOA!...WHOA! that would make you a reaver! Ignore eerything after "streets" and treat everything before that point as mere options of the possibilities one might take to express freedom.
The term: grace of women, is just a nicer way to say group. A group of larks is called a exaltation. A group of lions is called a pride. Are the larks really exalted? Are lions proud? Probably not. The term itself implies not a dingo's kidney of real judgement or obligation to your behaviour and / or character.
Eleven years? How many times can you change your major before your parents stop letting you come home to do laundry? Men might think that they have found a woman who fears commitment more than they do. I'm just joshing. Clearly you are a professional scholar, a truely honorable calling.

Okay SYB's, I can handle that. What would you call a group of them, a challenge? A woman of voracious appetites , WOVA for short, might call them lunch, but I think that's a bit much.

no, I actually get it, and if I can, everyone can
(eventually)

but while we have the ever expanding skyscraper, and all the whizzy lifts, would it be possible for me to keep Loafers Nook? I'm kinda comfy now...

It could be everyones little haven of tranquility and, dare I say it, serenity, a place to pop in when you just fancy chatting 'bout a film or grabbing one of those beers

besides I just had more cushions and a nice morrocan lamp delivered,
how about we just bend reality and make it accessible from any floor, and only a hop skip and a jump from the elevator lounge, (though skipping is entirely optional)

We could even have parties and hire a professional goose juggler to show us how its done...

I get what yer sayin'. The term just makes me picture a bunch of LOTR elvish women, gliding smoothly through the forest in shimmering flowy gowns. That's fun, but it can't possibly apply to me and my hockey girlfriends sitting in the locker room drinking cheap beer and complaining about hockey gear stink and the like. grace of women indeed.

No honorable calling here: it's about 'normal' life avoidance. (better way to say committment fear?) But hey, I have a facial piercing, a visible tattoo, and don't own a suit. Yet I get a decent paycheck and have pretty business cards. I may screw up a lot in life, but I can avoid being normal like nobody's business!

Seryn: Okay if you get it. Then see if you can get them to understand.

The recitation of past abuse is really bumming me out. One of the worlds great injustices is that children grow up to do such terrible things. I ask only one thing of the mothers of young children: One less serial killer in the world, that's all I ask. It may not be the same thing, but you understand. Sometimes I close my eyes and ask, "how did our world come to this?"

In regards to the concept that the only time you can easily find some one is when you are all ready with someone. It is really frustrating. It often seems that there are women out there who won't give you the time of day if you are single and then they just want to steal you away once you are taken.

In the spirit of full disclosure I shold declare that I am living with someone. I hope this does not come as dissappointment to some of you. Oh the Irony...

you really want me to try?

oooooh the brain ache.

Simplest way I can say it, I think he means a thread to go to if you want to talk about any of the topics on any of the floor threads, so the lift can effectively whoosh you past the discussions that you aint taking part in - like the relationships one we have here - to something that may tie in with a topic on foor one that needs expanding.

in the most complex, threads as virtual environments, with pathways and indeed, lifts, then sorry you ain't getting it from me, if you want your head wrecked, listen to joss's commentary on 'objects in space'

I suppose I ought to say something on the subject of past 'relationships' but mine are a series of non starters - I know whatI want, and I always seem to start a new venture with a feeling of 'this isn't it'.

I've had one bad relationship, not abusive, I was never in a position where I thought I had 'earned' bad things - I never even felt weaker than him - he simply wanted to take advantage and I was In a bad enough head-place to just let him.

So basically I stopped, I've dealt, I know what I want, I know what I'm worth and when someone turns up who warrants my efforts then i'll give it a go.

In the meantime, almost three years of total celibacy and the only time i've ever missed a boyfriend is when i'm trying to get skin cream to that tiny little patch of skin on my back,

the bit between the shoulder blades,

stupid little skin bit...

as for the less attractive when single thing there was an austen character said something like 'an attatched woman is more attractive, she is content with her situation and can devote all her powers to pleasing' he was a total cad, but maybe there was something in it

I feel so misled! I have to go launch myself from a cliff!! Or not.

Okay so I have another strange question then. I have several friends who have been living with someone for like 1-4 years. They aren't overwhelmingly happy or anything, just together cos it's easier than being alone, and they feel safe and comfortable blah blah blah. As a person who is living with someone do you ever wonder if 'the one' has passed you by cos you were otherwise occupied. I am not trying to imply that you are unhappily with someone. Cos I'm sure she must not suck, but I'm always curious of this. (See floor 1 for the rest of my views on cohabitation).

Whaaa!! no ScorpionRegent! Oh well, there are plenty of others to stalk on this thread... Not that I stalk...

Yes there was more than one who got away, passed by, lost. The lady I'm with needs me. Without me she would be truly lost. I could not refuse her and live with myself. She loves me. She accepts me as I am with all my flaws. We take care of each other. How this all came to be, like much in life, is very complicated and is a story for another time.

XEROGRAVITY

scorpionregent...

a couple hundred-million posts ago, you threw down the gauntlet. I accept.

Unfortunately, I turned my back and you threw the whole rest of your Liberace wardrobe at me.

Let's not spoil everyone else's fun. We can keep our fight seperate. Black Eyed Girl won't have none of it. Seems your all heroiclike since I last sniffed this thread.

I won't be having none of your creepy-ass "Silence of the Lambs" routine. Time to pull off the Dr. Jekyll mask.

I posted your PM in the troll forum (since it's where people go to fight it out privately).

Look for the thread entitled:

"Love letter from a serial killer"

That's the copy of your private message to me.

XG ~ you should have let it go.

No such thing as gravity. The "Earth-that-was" just sucks.

Aww ScorpionRegent, it's okay. I'm sure I'll live. I just always wonder about people in those situations. Then again I can't get someone to stick around for longer than a few months so who am I to talk, really?

BTW: I wasn't pining away over here for you, no I'm reserving that for Orpheus. Just Kidding. Really, it's Jadehand. Just Kidding again. I'm secretly in love with CallMeSerenity (and she's a girl!), yeah you know I'm J/K on that.

I will have to go check out this loafers den.

I'm thinking we're gonna need a happier cheerier 4th floor. Cos the third got kinda sad.

We SO need a goose juggling emoticon!!

30 mins of getting-it-ness is good? Average should be closer to 3 hours. How bout we install a elevator/lift under the loafers nook, that way you can raise/lower it to various floors of the Hidey place.

Raised up my hopes, and dashed them on the rocks. *sniff*

Helpful advice for all: When you finally meet the one and when the time is right, they ask you to come to their place, and you step in and you're looking about.....Don't open with "Wow, this place looks a lot different through my telescope."

I had to say something, your bullshit detector wasn't going off and I felt it would be better you learn it from me now, then some one else later. Well I'm still not leaving, unless of course you ask me to.
Hey if Callmeserentiy holds the key to your happy place then that's cool. This is cyberspace where the fact that niether of you has a Y chromosone has no bearing on anything. Yes I know you are only kidding, but my point is still valid. I was raised not to question the path others chose to take in love. The happieness they find is theirs no one else's.
I'm with you on a happier fourth floor. This must be the floor we decided to dump a lot of of unwanted baggage before we walk upstairs, seeing as there is no elevator. (just kidding)

I wondered when someone was going to pick up on that one, Jadehand, thank you I think in you I have finally found my smutty-mindedness match.

oh, and the accessibility is sorted, I got one of the guys who designed the matrix in - you can access it from anywhere in the building through your phone.

of course, then there are always the really outlandish and complicated methoids, like the stairs

Are lions proud? Probably not.

Of course they're proud. They're cats.

Someone once suggested that a group of housecats should be called a vanity.

Only one I know is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, an animé series (as opposed to the two Ghost in the Shell movies, abbreviated as GitS). It's a cyberpunk police procedural, kinda like the Matrix does X-Files. It's my favourite series title, because the term is a multilayered pun:
-The series has two kinds of episodes: "stand-alones" that are fully resolved by the end, and "complex" episodes, which fit into an ongoing arc.
-A stand-alone is a computer (or computer-like device) that's not hooked up to any network, so the title refers to a network ("complex") that is itself stand-alone, isolated from other systems. (Much like the bureau the characters work for: known only as Section Nine --a family unto itself.)
-A complex can be a mental condition (inferiority complex, god complex, etc), so a "stand-alone complex" would logically be the mind set held by an Outsider. (Like the series lead, who holds herself between two worlds [the cybernetic and the wholly organic], but belongs to neither.)
