So, my admin just told me about a customer with a wacky problem she can't even describe.

I said, "Please put her in my voicemail where she can leave a long and rambling."

LOL! I've been 'verse-ified' and I talk like it too. Share your firefly speak with the rest of us.

oh god! where do i start???

i use shiny all the time, say gorram and ruttin, and i now curse people out in mandarin. it's really fun too because i can curse in class or in public and no one knows what i'm saying! and if they want to know, it's just an opener to a conversation about "this amazing show called Firefly." have you heard of it?? i am working on the phrase "Mother of God and all her wacky nephews" in chinese right now. it's really long so i'm having a bit of trouble, but once i get it!! oh boy, there will be nothing to stop me from ruling the verse! (oh yeah, that's another thing, i that word a lot too) i quote the show and if anyone i know who's seen it hears me they answer witht he following line! it's tons of fun and everyone around us just starts to back away slowly!! there's also the fact that i love to doodle so now my binder for school is absolutely COVERED with firefly words in chinese and different sayings from firefly! i guess you could say i am obsessed... in a good way... firefly has also prompted me to start taking mandarin classes at the local community college! i start soon and then i will be able to talk in mandarin! funfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfun!

and that's my rant about the wonders of firefly talk!!!

Kepp flyin'(yes i say that too)

I of course use shiny and gorram all the time. And I'm always using lines from the show. I just love it when I can find a way to slip Firefly talk into a conversation. And of course if people notice it isn't normal I get to talk about Firefly.

I have a funny story about Firefly talk or at least it I thought it was when it happened. Recently I was talking to my mom about this Anthropology of Religion course I'm taking. There's this very religious guy in the front of the class who drives me gorram nuts, but that's another story. Anyways, I was telling her how awful this kid was and I was making a joke about him being a 'bible thumper' (I've got nothing against 'bible thumpers,' this kids just awful) and she gave me this really wierd look. I couldn't figure out what the look was for. She said "Where'd you get that expression from?" It took me a couple of seconds to figure out what she was talking about, because I didn't even realize I was talking in Firefly. lol It didn't even cross my mind that 'bible thumper' wasn't normal. Anyways that's my story.

I use gorram the most, but I'd also have to say I've used "humped" in the same way I used to use "screwed". I'm trying to pick up Mandarin, but when I say the swears to my chinese friends, they have absolutely no clue what I'm saying. They say I have awful pronunciation and I refer them to Firefly, and when I show them parts of the show, they just say: "well, that's what you get when you have white guys trying to speak chinese".

"I aim to misbehave."

"Bible thumper" is actual slang, though, isn't it? I'm pretty sure it's not a Firefly original.

I tell my cadets all the time, "Your mouth is talkin'...might wanna look to that."

I use gorram and shiny all the time...

And my cadets, this year, instead of doing a precision rifle drill, they decided to do a skit about soldiers in Iraq reading letters from home on Christmas day... at one point, some 'cadets' come running in...back from a patrol that turned ugly... and one of them turns to another and says, "They don't like it when you shoot at them. Worked that out myself."

At one point, after informing my mom (who had been volunteering to give me a ride from one work site to another) that Jen (a co-worker) was giving me a ride home, mom asked when.

My response: "'After we're done.' She was non-specific as to time."

Didn't realize til after I'd hung up that I'd been talkin' Firefly-like.

OMG I love that!

I'm partial to 'special hell' myself (obviously, cuz I quote Book in my headline). Anytime someone does something naughty, or bad, or anything they know they shouldn't, I laugh and tell them they're going to a special hell. I say that of myself when I do something naughty too

Well, used the first one today. Our postage machine has a bad habit of rippin envelopes open as they go through and I'd had about enough of it.

Out of my mouth popped."You piece of gos se" but no one was around to hear it.

I use it all the time too...in the words of Cartman: "It's warped my fragile little mind!"

But in a good way of course...

I now use 'ruttin' and 'gorram' a lot. Especially when I can't find my keys. Now my mom can't really yell at me for swearing. Of course shiny. I'm tell my friends sometimes that I think they have a problem with there brains being missing. Only one of them gets it though.

It's so fun...my next step is to learn to swear in Chinese (all those fun little sayings).

Drunks are so cute.

LIMINALOSITY

I'm fond of the inside out sentence, and my regular speech has always been pretty well peppered with made up, modified, and runtogether words. I already had a kind of FF thing going in the before time, so the FFishness adds plenty of spice for me. I'm really fond of Jayne math, and I use that one some. I've also used the Jayne line from the movie 'what you plan, and what takes place...' terrifying space monkies live in my heart, and I use 'go all crotchety and...' often as well.
Thanks for the thread!
*edit to add* Inevitable! How'd I forget inevitable!?! Daily.

My problem is Jayne.
I've been reading and writing too much Jayne fic. I'm starting to say things like "I don't rightly see the profit in that" and using words like uncomfortableness.

Today, my coworker asked me about a lame decision on the part of our boss (working time and half New Years weekend to do inventory.) and I just said, "I weren't in no mood to argue it."

She just busted up laughing and said, "You want I should go get Vera?"
It was definately a grenade kinda day.
