I can Watch the CRAZY IVAN scene on a loop tape all day... Sheer poetry. Or Mal kicking Nishkas henchman into the engine.

My would be from Shindig. Mal's "Well, I'm okay" after giving Atherton Wing a couple good stabs.

The Pilot (the real one), end of shoot out with Patience:

- Mal/Zoe exchange (thanks for sayin Sir)

- Mal shoots the horse

I did a job ... go run your little world (I can watch Nathan deliver these lines till the sun goes down and comes back up again. Fabulous.)

- and the Reavers enter atmo

What a sequence. This was not good enough for a pilot ... how?

One of my favourite scenes is in 'Safe' when River suddenly starts dancing and there is that gunfight at the same time. Pure poetry if I may say so.

I only get to pick one?! Oh well, if I must...

The reactions all through the scene in "Jaynestown" when they first come across the...er..."eerie-ass" statue. Simon's line, "This must be what going mad feels like" makes me laugh all the way into hiccups every time!

The scene in the bar when the song starts is tied with the first one.

There are many great moments, but there is one, visually, that gave me chills, it is so beautifully filmed. It's the scene in Objects in Space when River bends over to look at the stick, with here feet at the bottom left, and her face coming into the frame from the top. Incredible framing.

Laugh while you can, monkey-boy.

I love the scene in "Our Mrs. Reynolds" when the mystery girl surprises Mal with the news that she is his wife. His reaction was something that had me in hard laughter. It was a good 3 to 4 second pause with a dumbfounded look upon his face, and then he finally blinks in disbelief...cut to commercial.

If I had to chose one moment, to have and to hold forever and watch again and again, deprived of all other Firefly?

We learn Jayne cares about what the other think. and what Mal will do to protect his crew.

Well the shindig moment had me in stitches. It was entioned earlier so I guess my favorite moment was in the two part serenity intro when your first shot of wash and he is on the cons and playing with dinosaurs and says "this is a fertile land and we shall call this land" slight pause "this land" at that moment he became my favorite character and I was hooked to firefly.

The moment I most think about when I think about Firefly is Mal in the infirmary during Out of Gas, and he's all groggy, and he tells Wash, "You got something in your arm." Wash's reply, that simple, easy "Yeah," delivered in that amazing tone of voice, sums up the entire series for me.

That one moment is what Firefly is about, not gunfights or witty banter, but a bunch of people who honestly care about each other and are willing to sacrifice for each other.

Well, my three fave scenes are: the one with River dancing in Safe; when Mal sees Serenity for the first time in Out of Gas, just the pure love on his face; and the River/reaver fight in Serenity (BDM). Just incredible, flawless action.

One of many, from Jaynestown:

Book: River, please, why don't you come on out?
River: No! Can't. Too much hair.
Book: Is that it?
Zoe: Hell, yes, preacher! If I didn't have stuff to get done I'd be in there with her!

Followed by:
River: "Just keep walkin', preacher-man."

my top 5

1. (classic Whedon moment)

Operative : "I'm unarmed.."
Mal : 'Good' *blammo!*

2. (atypical poetry)

Mal : "Understand?"
River : "He understands...she doesn't
comprehend."

3. (pity and terror)

The moment in Ariel when Jayne asks Mal not to tell the others the truth of what he'd done, "to make something up." It's awe inspiring how the writers create a true moment of pity and sympathy for Jayne even after his loathsome betrayal of River and Simon.

4. (creative brilliance)

River's pretending to be Serenity in 'Objects in Space.'

5. (creative balls)

Mal and Wash airing it over Zoey while being tortured by Niska *zzzap!*

I especially loved the fact that before the camera turns on River in that scene, you can see her joyous face so beautifully reflected in Simon's helmet glass. Wonderful camera/lighting.

On that same note, when Saffron offers to wash his feet? That long look, the glance at Wash and Zoe, the look back at Saffron -- still trying to think of an appropriate response -- gives up, turns and just walks away.

I dont know if this counts....but in the Gag reel. during the message part of the episode "the message" The camera pans around all the characters in the room, Nathan must run behind the camera, because hes standing next to no less than 4 people and the jackpot payola is when they pan down to the coffin....Nathan is cuddling with the "corpse" ...I fell out as did everyone else on the set with the exception on Adam... Just watched OiS (again).
Loved the scene when River floats down from Early's ship onto Serenity. Beautiful shot.

River: "Permission to come aboard"
Mal: "You know, you aint right"
River: "That's the popular theory"
Mal: "Go on, get. Give your brother a thrashing for messing up your plan."
River: "He takes so much looking after"

Awesome scene. Summer and Nathan have some serious chemistry together as actors.

in the pilot, when Mal tells Simon that Kaylee is dead ... and he starts running through the ship in slow-mo ... The Greg Edmonson music is so Harrowing that there is no doubt in my mind that its true... It was a shock to see her sitting up.

MANWITHPEZ

Important people don't do field work.

There are, as mentioned, so many. "Serenity Part 1" is not my favorite episode, but it does have one exchange that stands out in my mind for both the dialogue and the way it was shot. The exchange between Mal, Zoe, Simon, Inara (and Kaylee) after Kaylee has been shot by Dobson. As Mal get angrier and angrier that he has lost complete control on his ship, the camera pushes closer and closer. You can tell when he makes the decision to turn around, because the camera is right in his face! Also, no amount of arguing from Simon or Inara will change this man's mind about where the ship is going. One whimper from an injured Kaylee, however...Plus, I like this bit of dialogue:

Zoe: She dies...You'll never make it.
Simon: She'll still be dead.

As for the movie...My two favorite bits of dialogue come from...Mal.

Mal: Do you understand your part in all this?
River: Do you?
Mal: This is what I do, darlin'.

And

Mal: You fog things up. You always have. You spin me about. I wish like hell you were elsewhere.
Inara: I was.

Mind you, Mal was in danger of having Jayne walk off with this entire movie right out from under him, but, he held his own...I mean, how good of an actor do you have to be to keep commanding respect when you shoot not one...not two...but three unarmed men in a movie?

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

I have to offer this one just because it hasn't been mentioned yet:

Heart of Gold, the exchange between Mal and Inara at the very end. Ouch. The look in Mal's eyes when she says she's leaving, you can almost see his heart on the floor with a big footprint in it. Great stuff.

SERYN

the bit in war stories, just before Niska comes in, they're still blindfolded and screaming at each other so close up, and Mal reveals that Zoe wen't against him when deciding to marry Wash, i dunno, it just sticks out in my mind,

but my absolute favorite is the end of Out of Gas, Mal's seeing Serenity for the first time - it made everything, even the theme song, make absolute perfect sense.
The structuring of that show was just awesome, and the music, the use of the voiceovers and repetition, it was actually breath snatching.

And for all the wrong reasons, the bit in heart of gold when the bad guy has just snatched the baby, he come's out the door, turns to face the camera - and its a plastic doll.
If that had been any other show i would have instantly been ripping the piss, the fact that I could see it and not think at all negatively of the show just proves how damn brilliant the whole thing is.

gushing over.

The first moment that comes to mind for me is from the BDM:

In the bank robbery, when River points out the guy with the gun and Zoe says something like 'What, that one?' and River looks at Zoe and pulls a 'tcha' face. Was the first time she'd looked like a bratty teenager, touching and funny.

Here's the face for all those struggling to recall...

Love threads like this - remind me of how truly great this series was. Been scrolling through this thread going "That one! - No wait, that one. Or maybe that one..."

Thought the scene that made me fall in love with firefly for the very first time is worth a mention. It's the dance during the teaser - the beautiful haunting music, the hilariously drunk Mal and Jayne, Wash and Zoe snuggling and peaceful in the firelight.... Bam. In love.

Honourable mention to 'Safe' (as I seem to be the sole Safe-ophile). Simon and River about to be burned at the stake. How that relationship manages to come across as achingly beautiful and not at all creepy is a mystery to me. When River says "time to go" and the wind from the spaceship ruffles her hair, my heart just lifts. No idea why.

Mal: "Hey, little one. Understand your part in all this?"

I can't BELIEVE this hasn't been said yet.

To me, this scene sums up the entire series. So, without further adieu:

Mal- "Well look at this. 'Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?"
Zoe- "Big damn heroes, sir."
Mal- "Aint we just. Sorry to interrupt folks, but y'all got something that belongs to us, and we'd like it back."
Patron- "This is a holy cleansing, you cannot think to thwart gods will"
Mal-"Y'all see the man hangin' out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kind've out of our way and he didn't wanna come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folks. So really, it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.
Gotta say, doctor, your talent for alienating folks is near miraculous."
Simon- "Yes, I'm very proud."
Mal- "Cut her down."
Patron- "The girl is a witch."
Mal- "Yeah, but she's our witch. So cut her the hell down."

okay, there's just way too many, so i'm gonna have to pick one from each ep:
Serenity (pilot)- Mal and Kaylee when she is on the bed in the Infirmary. "You are a good man Cap'n". this includes the whole "That man is psychotic" thing.
The Train Job- "If you die can i have your cut?"
Bushwhacked- the basketball game at the beginning.
Shindig- "I got stabbed!" Oh so noble!!!!
Safe- "Big Damn Heroes Sir!"
Our Mrs Reynolds- "I call her Vera" *drool*
Jaynestown- "It doesn't matter. It'll be there. Waiting"
Out of Gas- "Y'all gonna be here when i wake up?"
Ariel- Jayne at the end. "Make sommat up. Don't tell em what i did."
War Stories- Simon and River after she throws up. "I walk, i function like i'm a girl. I hate because i know it'll go away..." breaks my heart.
Trash- "I can kill you with my brain"
The Message- "Literally the the only girl in the world". Oh Simon!!!
Heart of Gold- "Coz i'm Pretty?"
Objects in Space- my fave ep. no way i can choose just one.

There any many, many scenes/moments which are really special but the scene above just blew me away.
