Aside from Serenity, what movies will y'all be watching during this yule tide season?

My wacky X-Mass movie list:

Die Hard- "NOW I HAVE A MACHINE GUN HO HO HO"
Die Hard 2- "John, why does this keep happening to us?"
Gremlins- "Hey, you're not a Rockin' Ricky fan...AUGHHHHH"

I am a sick puppy...

I've got little patience for Christmas movies, I'm afraid. I'm not a humbug, they just all get so formulaic.

My top 3:

The Muppets Christmas Carol ('Cause the Muppets are always good for a laugh.)
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz ('Cause nothin' says Christmas like giant mecha going to war in a european city-scape.)

And this year, my most-looked-forward-to bit of holiday programming:
Dr. Who: The Christmas Invasion

My Christmas movies?

Die Hard, of course.

A Christmas Story. I've watched it a thousand times, and I'll watch it a thousand more.

Home Alone/2. It's just fun seeing someone throw bricks at Joe Pesci. Merry Christmas.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martains is fast becoming a perennial. Especially the MST3K version.

Also, has anyone ever heard of a war movie called A Midnight Clear? Gary Sinise, Ethan Hawke. Believe it or not, it's a Christmas movie. Set in World War II. It's worth checking out if you can find it.

I used to include Lethal Weapon, but I have developed 'big hair' issues. Wrath Of Khan is the same way for me...

Can't be Christmas without "It's a Wonderful Life". I think I've seen it 50 times. Also, "A Christmas Story". I've seen it just as much as laugh just as hard at "You'll shoot your eye out!"

Now if y'all want a good weep, but in a contained and manly (or womanly) welling up, but not wanting to make a fuss because it's British, dammit fashion, you have to go for "The Railway Children."

Be sure it's the 1970 version directed by Lionel Jeffries. He nailed all the classic moments. The other versions. Not so much.

G

Triple hit award to Jenny Agutter for being in that, the 1968 and the 2000 versions. (And for being in the (still) awesome "An American Werewolf in London.")

Of course, the original animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Also, any Christmas episode of the Simpsons, but especially the one where they get Santa's Little Helper.

Then, Serenity and any other movie that I get for Christmas. My family always spends Christmas day watching the movies we got. Last year it was Dodgeball, Shrek 2 and Spiderman 2.

"Sir, you actually said 'wink, wink'. I don't think that -"
"Oh, you'd be surprised."

"Yes, the new plan will STILL involve rocket skates."
"YAY!"

the only two I can stand are:

muppet christmas carol- (by far the best adaptation made) (and often followed by the muppet treasure island cos they're on the same tape and once I start...)

the nightmare before christmas- beautiful

and not a film but I'll have to watch the snowman, and have a cry. oh and olive the other raindeer is becoming a tradition, its been on the last few years.

And, of course, BLACULA

"The people who made the show, and the people who saw the show, which is roughly the same number of people, fell in love with it, a little bit too much to let it go, too much to lay down arms when when the battle looked pretty much lost. In Hollywood, people like that are called unrealistic, quixotic, obsessive... In my world, they're called Browncoats."
