LEXIGEEK

I just got back from vacation in Southern California, and while I was there, I stopped at Universal Studios to see what Serenity stuff they might have on display. I figured my best bet was the tram tour. Unfortunately, all I saw (with the exception of Mary Parent's parking spot -- how much of a geek am I for noticing that??) was the mule, which was literally in the weeds on the side of the road near Universal's foliage department. The tour guide didn't even mention it as we drove by! In fact, there were some pieces of heavy machinery nearby, all painted in construction yellow (like the mule), so I'm fairly certain no one on the tour even realized it was a movie prop!

Besides that? Nuthin'. No souvenirs, no posters, no props, nada, zip, zilch.

What gives??

so if no-one cared about the mule being there or not, do you think they would care if we conjured up a cunning plan to go in and, ahem, 'liberate' it?

We could give it to Joss or one of the cast (they're the ones most likely to have room I suppose) with a nice flat piece of wood for disguising it as a table, should someone come looking for it.

Did Nathan ever get that coat? would make a lovely birthday present...

so anyone up for a night of crime?

Rubbish actually.

But seeing as i'm stuck in England, I would be hiring the worlds best bartering secret agent to do it.

Them, or a bunch of stuntmen. cheaper, effective, and entertaining to boot.

I have room, no one with the money to mount a search would ever think to look here and everyone who would care would be welcome.

I'm getting a wierd 'dog that didn't bark' feeling about Universal- never an outfit to avoid tooting their horn. They couldn't wait to take the website down, and aren't responding to the high ratings all over... what's up with that?

They can't get the rights to the series and thats probably upseting them a bit, sense it would be hard to get around fox and try to make a series out of it again... (Which is where the money would be at, at this point.)

As for the mule, perhaps they hoped it would be well hidden from view as to keep any one from devising a cunning plan to steal it... I'd go along with you guys to get it just so I could spout somthing like "ge se!" as I notice the universal guards coming for us.

But we could occupy the place and then demand that they make a sequel to the BDM. Nah, that would probably get us arrested, or killed depending if we do something to aggravate them. They probably have enough browncoats coming at them already that they're just dying to let off some steam at us.

Jayne: She's in Congress?
Wash: How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious!

You'd probably show up with all that stuff, grease smeared all over your face, the Mission Impossible theme music pounding in your head, sneak the mule right up to the front gate before the guards turn on all the lights and see you; then politely open up the doors to let you and the mule out, saying "thanks for taking out the garbage!"
