Apparently, after the conclusion of todays marathon, Firefly is off of the SciFi airwaves in favor of.. John Doe? I don't know if this has been posted already, but I thought I would spread the word.

http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=13-JAN-2006&feed_req=

Here's next weeks schedule. Firefly is out of the timeslot, and there is a Stargate mini-marathon. (7:00 Pm est)

http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=20-JAN-2006&feed_req=

And here's the schedule for the week after that. Notice that the *great* show John Doe has replaced Firefly.

So, now it's up to the browncoats once more to spread the word by ourselves, just as we always have.

...At least until SciFi see the ratings for the Firefly marathon, which will hopefully be good.

i heard they are going to start airing reruns of the soap opera Passions. I think it would be better if they ran constant reruns of the 14 episodes of Firefly rather than run that garbage.

John Doe? Great :D. Yet another Fox show that got canned before it's time. Ended on a cliffhanger .

Here's hoping SciFi is looking to bringing these shows back.

Haha why don't they just show The Lone Gunmen while they're at it.

I just got my Lone Gunmen boxed set. Don't need the Sci-Fi channel now.

In a way, I think this is a good thing. With only 14 episodes (15 hours of programming), a weekly rerun will quickly become repetitive to the casual viewer.

Of course, we'd like to think that people will see Firefly, love it, and start demanding new episodes... but realistically, we can't expect everyone to "get it".

We don't want our beloved 'verse to become a laughingstock among the unwashed and ignorant masses, do we?

I don't disagree on any particular point.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm sure they have the rights to the series for a while longer, and they will probably run it in weekday mini-marathons like they do now with Sliders, Roar, the original BSG, among others. You can only access their schedule through February at this time, so let's wait another month and search for it in March before we panic.

Actually, from what I heard, Sci-Fi originally didn't intend to run through Firefly more than once. They mainly picked it up as a vehicle for promoting the movie (Sci-Fi is owned by NBC/Universal, who produced and distributed Serenity), but the ratings were good enough that they did a second run-through and now the marathon. But generally, Sci-Fi doesn't run through shows more than once or twice in this manner because the ratings don't hold up. (The lone exception has been their Monday night block of four SG1 episodes, which has continued to get excellent ratings.)

But Firefly did pretty well for them, and I wouldn't be surprised if they put it back in the rotation after a few months.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for the info Keith. It is much appreciated.

I think that Sci Fi will see that Firefly draws in the ratings & will put it back into their line up sometime down the road.

Of course browncoats it doesn't hurt to send some very politely worded emails asking what happened to Firefly & when they intend to return it to their line up.

This is just a guess, but it is possible Firefly not showing on Scifi for a while might have something to do with airing the eps on Pay Per View soon. It's rarely a good idea to compete with yourself, and PPV is a way to collect hard figures on how many people are watching (and paying to watch).

I watched the whole marathon as a goodbye. I have to say though, SciFi airing the reruns has been a huge help in my opinion. I've met a lot of people who got into Firefly because of it( a lot of SG1 fans too).
Sad to see it go(again), but not to sad. Its done us browncoats a lot of good in my thoughts and I don't suppose this will be the last we see of our beloved show if the past is any evidence.

Just as a suggestion, you all might try emailing the Sci-Fi channel and requesting more of it. The email address was in a thread a couple of weeks ago, but I cannot find it. So I went to the Sci-Fi website and found their feedback line:

SCI FI CHANNEL: If you have suggestions or comments for our Programming Department about the SCI FI Channel or any of its shows, please contact: feedback@scifi.com

Couldn't hurt........

Great Idea! Done.
Let 'em know that I appreciate them airing my all-time-favorite show and that whenever they choose to air it in the future that we fans will be sure to tune in. Dropped a little hint at maybe continuing the show to...couldn't hurt you know.

Might hurt in my case. I sent some rather... impassioned emails to SciFi when they cancelled Farscape. I wouldn't be surprised if their system has me red-flagged.

My thoughts exactly, Brownocoat1! I'm thinkin' that if they take it out of rotation and there is a clamor for it.... that'll make 'em think.

Then it'll be back, and I still think they may consider bringing the series back.

My kids in California, who are huge SciFi Friday fans, think that SciFi Channel is floating this so many times, and watching to see what kind of ratings and response it gets, then they will consider picking the series up. No inside info to base this on, just years of watching SciFi and guessing what they are considering.

I do so hope this is so... I want more of the 'verse!!

Wow, just how passionate were those emails? Use some Farscapian profanity talking to those frilling bastards? Now that would have been Hi-larious.

It'll be interesting to see how John Doe's ratings compare to Firefly's. And does anyone else find it amusing that John Doe and Firefly started on FOX's friday nights together? I've even seen it asserted that FOX wanted a one hour pilot for Firefly so that they could show John Doe's pilot the same night.
