Hey Iam new here and new to the world of Firefly....I have just got the series and the movie on DVD i had never seen the show till last night when i started watching it...I was just wondering for all of you that have seen both Firefly and serenity...which one should I watch first...I mean I know the series came first but since I have the option..which is best to start with?

Hey and welcome. Start with Firefly because it sets up what will happen in Serenity. Both are exceptional, but I personally love Firefly more than Serenity. That's my opinion anyways. Enjoy

Please, stick around and discuss the ‘verse with us. You’re lucky in that you’re seeing it all for the first time; you’ll love it.

Definitely watch the series before the movie. Although you do not need to have seen the show to enjoy and understand the movie, the movie takes place (largely) after the series and you will have developed a much stronger emotional connection to the characters. Everything in the movie will mean more to you if you watch the series. Plus, you’ll be able to spot and appreciate the occasional nods to “Firefly” (such as the heartrending solo guitar rendition of the series theme music at the very end of the credits).

EDITED TO ADD: Oh, and Gixxer's right, be very careful about spoilers on this site and elsewhere. Folks around here try to mark movie spoilers, but we've started to slip since the movie's been out for so long. And believe me, you don't want to be spoiled, it'll diminish a lot of the enjoyment.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I concur with the others that it would be best if you watch the series first, and I will go even further in warning you about spoilers, both for the series and the movie.

Get away from this site until you have seen it all, then come back to discuss. Unfortunately there are some very big spoilers in some of the thread titles themselves.
