Injustice is hardly a word one would normally use when discussing a television show. And yet, after having become acquainted with the wonderful world of story and characters that is Firefly it is the first word that came to mind.

I realize that any show involving any degree of SciFi has a roomful of TV execs sitting around with their fat fingers on the kill button, just waiting for the day the numbers dip below some imaginary line. But really, there are shows of (loosely) the same genre out there that are absolutely horrible but manage to live for years and years. How then can something so truly well done and – corny as this sounds – as special as this show be struck down? Does that seem right to you?

Sorry; venting. I’m just irked to discover something so good only to find that it’s already over. It’s like someone just showed me a huge diamond and then told me there’s only coal left to choose from. Put it this way: I’ve never been compelled to write in about a TV show before.

I’m glad they got a chance to resolve some things in the form of the movie; that’s something at least.

Anyway, if they’re still handing out brown coats, I take a large.

*Hands Jax A Browncoat*
Welcome aboard. You'll find many friendly folk here who share a similar story, and many who were here from day one, who've been on the line for a long time. We appreciate the reinforcements. Maybe we'll hold this valley a little longer.
Being new, make sure you check out the following:
The Unfilmed script for the episode "Dead or Alive"
The 3 Serenity comics (takes place between the series and the movie)
The River Tam Sessions, 5 clips of "Viral Marketing" released on-line before the movie featuring Joss and Summer.

I've been a fan of firefly from the start(in fact all things Whedon) but I never realised there was such a community of fans out there since all my friends think I'm mental. I'm glad out that there are like minded people out there

I'll be in my bunk.......

Welcome Jax to a real nice independent "bar" in a quiet non Unified area of the 'verse...

Here we keep company and we keep moving forward toward the next bit of Firefly... Joss is with us.. the BDHs are with us and we are all together in this.. IT AIN'T OVER

we just have to hold a spell.. so pass the cards around and have some mudder's cus, I think it may be a little bit of a wait..

Chindi (I could do with a few less dishes to wash...)

Jax:

Welcome, fellow Lost Causer! The thing about us Browncoats is, we just don't know when to quit. Kinda like Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox fans...

So, pull up a chair, enjoy some amiable banter and do try the Quixote Quiche. It goes great with Guyana, er, Browncoat Punch...

Salutationally,

zoid

There is some hope then. The Bo Sox did eventually win the World Series.

The River Tam Sessions can be found at www.session416.com. Each is only one or two minutes long; they purport to be security footage of a series of “sessions” between River and a doctor at the Academy. They’re fun and fascinating to watch.

The unfilmed “Firefly” script, “Dead or Alive,” can be found here on FFF.net at http://www.fireflyfans.net/feature.asp?f=45.

And for those interested in the “Serenity” comics, It may be difficult/impossible to find the individual issues at this point, but they’ve been collected into a single graphic novel style trade paperback Dark Horse is releasing, I believe, January 25. They bridge the gap between the series and the movie, and read like a lost episode of the series.

Well, that explains it then. I'm originally from Boston.

In any case, I humbly stand corrected: it ain't over till it's over.

No, it's been over before, and yet here we are, we don't give up that easily. Just stick with, "It ain't over."

Welcome, good to have you.
