I've watched all of the 24 seasons recently and I noticed something. In every 24 season, there is at least one actor who played a minor or major character from Firefly. For example, for the season that recently aired (season 5), there have been two actors who were previously on Firefly: the guy who played Masgistrate Higgins AND the guy who played Badger. Hell, in season 3 Gina Torres had a guest role. Is there a connection here, or is it merely coincidence? And how come Fox could properly market 24 and not Firefly? Something is afoot...If you want I'll list all the occurences of this freak phenomenon. But has anyone else noticed this?

possible they had contracts with Fox...I notice a lot of re-occuring actors that are on some Fox shows...for example, it seems like every guest star on The OC (yes I watch it) has been on another Fox show. Also Melinda Clark was on Firefly, and is now on the OC...

Jeremiah, another brilliant series that had an all too untimely demise.

I noticed Badger this evening. I had forgotten about the guy that played Higgins.

Jewel is playing the daughter of the Davinci in Davinci's Inquest (whatever it's called).
I don't watch it, but at work we have tv and my associate watches it. I noticed her on the program Sunday night.

Yeah... Gregory Itzin was Magistate Higgins in Jaynestown and Plays President Logan. Mark Sheppard plays Badger in Firefly and some bad criminal terrorist man in 24.... Some kind of bio hazzard nerve agent. What ever your up to Mark, Knock it off!!!... Youve got at most, like 20 hours left to live... Jack Bauer will neatly wrap up this threat in a convenient 24 hours. (next season they should riegn down peace by hour 21... and show them reading the paper over bagels for the last 3 episodes.)

It's definately a Fox thing. Nandi from Firefly is a regular character on the OC. She plays the mum of one of the main characters, and seems to be a fiesty chick herself from what little I've seen

Somehow I think Jack will have Badger neatly disposed of in a lot less than 20 hours I give Mark another 2 hours, tops, before Jack puts him down

I've mentioned plenty of times on different threads the Firefly/24 connections have. And you can take it a step further and note that Doug Savant (the hotel manager in Day 3) and Richard Burgi (the infamous Allan York/Kevin Carroll), two guys who played Alliance officials have ended up as husbands on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

I was surprised that there's already connections in season 5. I wasn't really paying attention to it, so it's kind of a shock to hear that Pesident Logan (I wish he get's assassinated this year) was also on Firefly as Magistrate Higgings. Are you sure about that? Higging's looks nothing like Logan.

I notice a lot of people from Joss's camp have appeared both in front of and behind the camera. As for why FOX gave all its support to 24 and not FIREFLY, it should be noted that 24's first season wasn't highly rated. It was a struggling show in its first season and there was discussion to either cancel the show or re-format it the second season. But the fan outcry was even louder, and so they decided to give it another year, but in order to entice viewers, they did something that even four years ago was revolutionary.

They released the first season of 24 on DVD like a month in advance to the second season's debut.

This not only worked like gangbusters (every year, the rating for 24 go higher), but it's now a common standard for all shows to release the DVD of the previous season before the new season starts.

So 24 was in the same situation that FIREFLY was in. Only difference was that 24 caught on, while FIREFLY unfortunately didn't.

Boss Higgins and President Logan are the same actor...Gregory Itzin ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0411857/)

He's also been on a ton of other Fox shows if you look down the list. Also, the renegage cop, Lieutenant Womack on The Message was the fake father (Richard Burgi) of Kim Bauer's friend in the first Season of 24...I bet there are a ton of these little coincidences...also he's another one of the main actors on Desperate Housewives...heh

I guess that only shows the power of these actors. To go from one show to the next without being recognized and able to inhabit their characters so well that you'd never think they're from another show.

I remember when re-watching FIREFLY and then checking their IMDB profiles that I was shocked when I saw that Gina was on 24 as Julia Miliken. Julia was basically the antithesis of Zoe. Wife of a rich political mentor who got pushed around by Sherri and was essentially a coward who ended up killing herself. If Zoe and Sherri were in the same room, Zoe would've just punched Sherri out. But I wouldn't put it past Sherri to put up a good fight. On Day 3, he proved that she doesn't need weapons and that she could TALK a person to death. Mind you, it helps if said person was a old man with a heart condition, but that's beside the point.

Another connection 24 has to another great show is THE SOPRANOS. At least 3 SOPRANO actors were on 24. The guy who played the philanderous Father Phil also played Ryan Chappelle from days 1 to 3 and was basically the biggest beaureaucrat of the all. The guy who played Mikey in season 1 (the poison ivy guy) showed up for a few eps in day 2 as a P.I. Kate Warner hires. He eventually got killed in his second ep. And the latest one is Louis Lombardi, who was Big Pussy's FBI handler on THE SOPRANOS and is now beter known as Edgar Stiles.

I'm sure there are others, but that's just off the top of my head.
