CYBERSNARK

So, went on a road trip today (my mom was ferrying some people to Ottawa, and they let me tag along).

We've had some freezing rain (and normal rain, and sub-zero temperatures) here, following some snow. Driving conditions were good, but many vehicles have a crusty layer of snow/ice coating them. Of course, with the sun and the engine-heat, such things tend to melt and either slide off when stopped or fly off at speed.

Anyhow, we were tooling down the highway, comfortable and relaxed, when a fair-sized chunk of ice came free from the hood-area and clattered over our heads.

Being me, my brain immediately reacted thusly:

"What was that? Was that the port buffer panel? . . Did the port buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason?"

I didn't actually say it, since most of the other folks in the car were no-taste heathens who wouldn't know Firefly from The O.C., but I had a goofy grin on my face for the next few miles.

And just to be a total nitpicking fanboy, I will mention that the part in question was the PRIMARY buffer panel (it actually came off the starboard side of the boat, so PORT wouldn't make a lot of sense anyhow).

But I loved your story, and just wish you had said it out loud. We Browncoats must not fear embarrassment!

I don't disagree on any particular point.

No no no!
You SAY it out loud! Good and loud and clear, and when everyone looks at you like you're insane you look straight back at them in disbelief and say, "You have seen Serenity, haven't you? Nooo? EVERYBODY should see Serenity!"
