I saw the Mule! It's at Universal Studios LA. I was over there last week. I also went past the hallowed ground that is stage 12 where the Serenity set was.

I include photos. Hopefully better to come when I get my analogue film developed, these are from my dig.

It looks so abandoned sitting there like that.

Why don't they take better care of it, they are gonna need it for the sequel!

Well, you got better pictures than I did! I saw it two weeks ago when I was visiting LA. We were moving too fast to get anything decent!

Nice shooting!

This reminds me of the thread about the Ariel med shuttle --did we ever secure that one?

Not that I'm advocating trying to take possession of the mule; it's on Universal ground, even if they aren't using it. The shuttle was apparently cast-off.

Still, makes for some interesting ideas. . .

For the same reason they usually don't save sets: cost. Cheaper to rebuild it than to store it.

tall_n_moody took the pictures. I just posted a copy of them here.

Aeronstorm, was the Mule close to the tour vehicle or far away? Are the metal bars in tall_n_moody's pictures from the tour vehicle or from some other prop material?

It does not look abandoned to me. It is upright. It looks like Universal left it so that people on the Unversal Studios tour could yell WASN'T THAT THE MULE?? THE MULE! THE MULE! as they go by. Makes the tour more exciting to see props and recognize them. Makes you want to pay to go on a tour and point out to the driver that you want them to stop or slow down at the Mule.

Whoo-hoo!

You knwo, I never understood that. Lust looking at that Mule, it looks like it took a lot of man-hours to put in all the detail and everything. I could see getting rid of small, easily reproduced props. But something like the Mule?

I guess I kind of figured that the big studios all had warehouses someplace oustisde LA where they stockpiled this stuff.

You beat me to it Cyber, I keep coming on here to find out if that guy had mananged to buy the ambulance. I haven't heard anything since his last post in 2005. I do hope someone can find out if they got it and rebuilt her. Anyone with info and links, please post them. I hear they need help in a rural area of Ariel.

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting.

So where in Universal *is* the mule? It looks like it's near the Jurassic Park props on the tram tour?

I got to see the mule at the Serenity Fan Fest just after the premiere. Glad to hear it's going to stick around Universal Studios for a while!

It looks like it is in pretty good shape...Kaylee won't have to spend too much time getting her back up to speed!

And if Universal won't give it back to us WHEN we get back on the air, then Browncoats we MOUNT UP and spring our Mule...when Mal gets back we ain't leavin' nobody behind!

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

The mule was close tot he tram on the first part of the tour - my picture was crappy since I almost missed it! The bars are from a tarp-roof that went over that part of the tram route. It was still really cool to be THAT close!!!

It's always in the News archives and I have bumped it again.

Shiny pics! Glad to see they still have it there, just waiting to be put in another movie...
