Well... Tie me up with a magic lassoo for saying so, but the idea of a Wonderwoman movie doesn't really move me.

Curiously, the lame, tacky Lynda Carter version was quite good, and pitched at pretty much exactly the right level - slightly cheesy, super powers obviously, but never exactly sure what she was about, apart from wearing a costume well.

And that stopping bullets with jewellery stuff. Just asking for a bad carpal tunnel in later life. Although your average bling-laden gangsta may have cottoned on to something there...

There never was any feeling of badassedness, was there? Would arch-villains tremble in their Gucci loafers? Kaylee was more menacing.

Yeah, i know what you mean. She's almost as pathetic as Batman. The Bruce Wayne version of Batman was quite good, slightly cheesy and campy. It got kinda annoying that he had bat-gadgets for every situation, batarangs, bat lassos, bat-etc, i mean just how big was his utility belt. Holy guys-who-work-in-their-pajamas, Batman, just how less of a badass can he be. His arch-villian would only lose to him because he can't stop laughing at how pathetic he is.

Um, would you be referring to the Adam West Batman? They're *all* Bruce Wayne Batmen...

I don't disagree on any particular point.

Thinking of Wonderwoman, what do you all think of Morena as Wonderwoman? Cool or what?

Gelassenheit means Serenity

I think you're missing about ninety percent of the point of most of the superhero movies. For me the whole batman movie thing was sex appeal of the male variety. Well when Val Kilmer was Batman (movie sucked; but, he's gorgous).

Wonder Woman, it's not about the show/movie it's about little girls dreaming of being fantastic. And the object of young mens wet dreams.

Did somebody actually suggest that Batman is pathetic? If you are saying this based on some of the earlier Batman movies, I might agree. But if you have read any of the Batman comics, he is one of the coolest super heroes ever.

Yeah, totally agree, and not just because we have similar names here, Roland. Batman has such a bad rep just cuz of Adam West's fat ass. Suggested uber-bat reading for non-believers: "The Long Halloween" by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, and "Year One" by Frank Miller and David Mazzusomethingorother.

Batman is a really interesting and tragic character; the man who has everything and yet has nothing. If you haven't seen "Batman Begins" you should be shanked. My eyes watered.

As for Joss's Wonder Woman movie, the jury is still out. I need to see a trailer or something before deciding on it. But it's Joss. Writing about a strong female character. In a skimpy outfit (Wonder Woman, not Joss...eww). So I have faith.

There's also the DC Tooniverse (Batman: the Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited).

Batman (either Bruce Wayne or Terry McGuinness) and Wonder Woman are equally badass. JLU's Wonder Woman really captures the superpowered Amazon motif, with Diana being all snarly and willing to solve problems by hitting them until they stop being problems.

They've even managed to make the otherwise-ridiculous "invisible jet" cool (it's not invisible from the inside, it just has a cloaking device. It's also not a "jet," it's a starship, with multi-environment capabilities --air, underwater, space, even FTL drive).

Also a fair bit of humour and wit (though JLU has made Batman a bit lighter than his original series). I can imagine Joss being a fan.

I, too, am unexcited by the idea itself, but I'm interested to see what Joss Whedon will do with it. I have no doubt that if he's given the freedom to do what he wants, we're going to see something that is exciting, witty, a little dark, a little frightening, and very funny. This doesn't mesh at all with my memories of the 70s Wonder Woman TV series, but then look what Joss did with an idea for a show about guys with six-shooters and a spaceship.

True. Joss has a lot of experience developing realistic female heroines that are both special, and vulnerable. In another words, they can be related to very well.

Just the major mistake of saying Batman is pathetic, unless you're talking about the Adam West Batman only.
