If they're gonna cast an anorexic, drug-addled twit for Wonder Woman, shouldn't they go the whole nine and hire Paris Hilton?

Lindsay Lohan to play Wonder Woman?

Lindsay Lohan is desperate to play Wonder Woman in the forthcoming movie version of the comic book superhero.

The 19-year-old Freaky Friday actress admits she'd like to showcase her talents outside of kid and teen films, but feels the role would be too fun to turn down.

She says: " Wonder Woman would be cool.

"I'm trying to find roles right now that are different to anything I've done to show my abilities, to show that I have some sort of stretch in me. Because most of the things that I've done so far are aimed at younger girls and are light-hearted."

I think I just vomited in my mouth a little right now.

A resounding no to that idea. If she worked out enough, my money's on Jennifer Connelly to snag that role, since Chyna just doesn't look right these days. And they'd better give a role to the original Wonder Woman, come on, Linda Carter was awesome. They'd at least have to give her some sort of "Elder One" role, or even WW's mother.

how can one argue with reasoning such as that?! Infact hire her with such a large salary that Nicole Kidman will look like white trash... And then, give her a huge trailer, deck it with all the goods and push it off a cliff. Its the best thing to do in everyone's best interests

Really? My money is on Morena after Joss' 'pause for irony' comment on the Serenity DVD.

Anyway, yeah. I hope Joss keeps it "in house" too. Morena's already got the dark, flowing hair thing too.

I shall hold you to that with Morena; I can sees it, and she has that look to her that could pass off as modern greek, and less white gal from ancient greek island.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Ok, no need to panic. This is just the ramblings of a goofy pseudo teen pop star.

Joss would never do this to us. He couldn't. I would rather be served up to Reavers w/ an apple in my mouth then see Lohan get the role of the Amazon princess.

Now Morena on the other hand would be perfect for the role.

I was under the impression that she was had gained the weight back and had regained her voluptuous figure, especially up top.

Sweeeet!!

j/k - My 'source' was simply a passing glance at a grocery store check out mag row where LL was on the cover of whatever. She looked darn good. Dunno how old the pic was, or how much it was touched up, but generally that stuff is done to cover up and make look thinner, not flesh out and make look bigger.

I really don't care either way, I just find it funny that folks hate on her so much.

What'll they think of next? I'm sorry but first of all she's way too young for what I thought they would cast for Wonder Woman. I thought they'd cast someone in their mid-late 20's. I know they can find better. Yikes. What's next? Tom Cruise as Iron Man?? Sheesh.

Did ya not notice the crack whore body on that girl ? She lost a ton of weight when she didn't need to, and ended up looking like a stick. A sad, scary stick w/ bad hair and no chest. The girl has curves, and then they were gone. I say it was a phase she was going through, happens frequently to kids her age. Hopefuly she'll keep herself healthy. I don't know if Joss will get the final word here. Big studios like seeing big figures. They know that Linsay Lohan already has a market that she will bring with her name. If you try to sell Morena next to Linsay the studio is just going to laugh. I'm a little scared here.

I would be so torn if this happens. I really want to see what Joss comes up with, but I just couldn't see some moron playing any role that Joss has written. You have to have some acting chops to deliver Joss dialogue. Ugh

I'm in the Morena for Wonder Woman camp too, though I do think LiLo might be able to pull off Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark, I mean. The modern jeans and T-shirt version, not the old Donna Troy bell-bottomed tights one).

(Of course, the current WG has a pretty involved origin story, one that requires Diana to have been around for over a year [in order to have befriended Helena Sandsmark, Cassie's mom]. Plus, WG's only really interesting IMHO when Superboy's around for her to play off of, and that means a whole other bag of gummy-worms.)

Okay, I had heard about Summer Glau possibly being cast as Wonder Woman, but hadn't heard about Morena. I did some searching and found this little article on Iofilm.co.uk...

"There was clearly a lot of camaraderie amongst the cast, good-natured banter batted back and forth and they laughed at each other's jokes, which is always a good sign. There was a lot of male love in the room for Summer Glau, an ex-ballet dancer who plays River Tam and who trained to do 95% of her character's stunts. Joss (we're on first name terms now) will be making Wonder Woman next, and I wouldn't be gasping in surprise if Summer dons the spangly hot pants and armbands. Although she's a bit short to convince as an Amazon."

And on IDon'tLikeItThatWay.com...

"Now that writer/director Joss Whedon has wrapped Serenity, his full attention has turned to Wonder Woman and finishing the first outline and the story's basic structure. No word has surfaced on casting, but there are some reports that Morena Baccarin and Summer Glau are now the two leading candidates. Both actresses fit the role physically and both worked with Whedon on Firefly and Serenity. Other reports have Katherine Hiegl in the lead. Other reports say that I wore a Wonder Woman Halloween outfit until I was 13, but whoever says that is a god damn liar, and can't prove it despite what they say. That video of a boy spinning around with a golden lasso could be anyone, and to be honest, I was really more into Catwoman."

My feeling on this is that Morena looks more the part of WW, but Summer's dancing background would probably make her better for the fight scenes and such.

If wishes were horses, we'd all be eatin' steak.

Much as I hate to say it, I seriously doubt Joss has the clout to cast someone as relatively unknown as Morena or Summer for such a high-profile project. He may not even get a lot of say into who gets the part.

This is a tentpole movie, which will have a lot of cash (both in terms of budget, and marketing)riding on it. Add to that the fact that female-led action films don't have a very good track record at the box office.

So, regardless of how good Joss' script is (or isn't, who knows?), I imagine this is one that the studio is going to play as safe as they can. Which usually means putting the biggest name possible in the role.

I hope it's not Lohan. I'd totally get behind a Wonder Woman starring Jennifer Connelly, as she's possibly my favorite woman in the world (on the list of people I DON'T know personally), but it doesn't really seem like her kind of role.

There's no hiding the fact that the girl loves to party. Maybe not in the Tara Reid level, but then who is ? I'm not here to gossip, but Barry Bonds says he never used steroids either. I'm just saying that those who really know probably won't talk....'till their book comes out.

I thought about this some more, and I'm less inclined to think LL is right for the part. She's not old enough, for one, and Lucy Lawless it too old( but still smokin' hot too ).

So I really don't know. Morena is damn sexy, and could act the part, but could she pull off the physical part ? I know River could, but there are questions about her as well. Easy on the eyes, for sure, but an Amazon warrior? Then again, why not ? she doesn't fit the '70's version, but look at what was done w/ Battlestar Galactica..... sometimes the updated version is better.

Actually, she's publicly admitted to being bulimic, and to at least trying drugs.

It's not her physique that's a problem, it's the fact that she doesn't exude the kind of strength and confidence that Wonder Woman has. It's all about the attitude...

To which I say, apples and oranges. Just because they're both comics, doesn't mean it's an even playing field.

Superman is a much, much more popular character. That's one of those situation where people are going for Superman, not who plays him. We are talking about arguably the best-known fictional character of the last 75 years.

Wonder Woman is not nearly that popular. I'm sure there are people who would go just for the character, but not nearly enough to turn a profit, or even break even.

And superhero movies with a male lead are a proven quantity right now. Even the under-performing ones make a profit (Hulk, Daredevil).

In the female superhero department we have Catwoman, Aeon Flux and Ultraviolet. All massive bombs, stars or no.

Plus, as I said above, I don't think Joss has the clout. Bryan Singer has directed 2 of the most financially and critically successfull superhero movies so far, as well as having an multiple-Oscar-winning film under his belt. He had enough clout to cast who he felt was best. Joss is much more likely to be forced to cast who the studio thinks is best.

The actress who plays Wonder Woman must look like an Amazon for it to work. I'm thinking at least 5'9" or taller. Lohan is a little short, as are Summer Glau and Morena Baccarin. Gina Torres (5'10") would fit the bill. Some other taller actresses who look like they could pull off the action/stunts that would be decent choices to play Wonder Woman:

1. Katherine Heigl
2. Jennifer Garner
3. Uma Thurman
4. Saffron Burrows
5. Famke Janssen

Height can be faked. Look at any Tom Cruise or Stallone movie, or the Lord of the Rings if you want a drastic example. So I'd be much more concerned with acting ability and characterization than an easily-disguised heith issue.

That said, I think Famke Janssen is a great idea.

Woodman,

The only two on your list I'm familiar with are Heigl and Thurman. Heigl was a porker when last observed, and Thurman had zero muscles. The character has to at least be strong-looking, athletic, to pull it off.

Is age a factor here, anyone? If so, our Zoe -- other'n being the wrong color based on the history of the comic series -- may be too old.

(Edit) Saffron Burrows is 33 and doesn't look right to me. She's also English. Accent??

Jennifer Garner is also 33. In some photos she looks okay, but no telling how old the photos are.

Janssen looks to be a weakling in one photo I saw of her.

Suspect the desired age for this character ought to be about 24-28. Thoughts?

Nothin about Linday says "Woman" to me, Catherine Zeta Jones, now that is a woman. Maybe Lohan could play "Wonder girl", or a bumbling character like "Batmite" was for Batman. I heard "Tara Ried" did an audition too, with her left fake tit hanging out.

P.S.Maybe if it was "White trash girl"

AM I NOT MERCIFUL?!?!?!?

REGINAROADIE

My two cents on the Lindsay Lohan issue.

She's already tainted Robert Altman. Please leave Joss Whedon alone.

I've never seen the appeal of Lindsay Lohan. She's done nothing that's convinced me that she should be taken seriously. Her whole "rivalry" with Hilary Duff is moot since their both talentless hack who'll be forgotten in less than ten years.

And MEAN GIRLS is a film I abhorr since it's basically HEATHERS without the black humor and dark satire. And also an example of how Hollywood rewards mediocrity and shuns greatness. The hack who directed it, Mark Waters, actually has a career becasue of this movie where all he did was rip off his older brother Daniel who wrote HEATHERS and has been struggling ever since.

Lohan is obviously way to short for the role, however I wouldn't mind seeing her in a skimpy Wonder Woman costume.

Anyway, I think Famke Janssen is the most obvious choice.

"I'm trying to find roles right now that are different to anything I've done to show my abilities, to show that I have some sort of stretch in me. Because most of the things that I've done so far are aimed at younger girls and are light-hearted."

WHAT abilities??

Lindsay Lohan is one of those names that can't get through a day - nay, an hour - without appearing in a tabloid. And what do all those names (Lohan, Spears, Simpson, Hilton, etc.) have in common? The uttermost lack of anything coming within a micrometer of talent. (Not to mention that with the exception of Lohan none of them are even vaguely attractive, heightening the paradox - and mind you I lean toward womenfolk.) What's her game, trying to extract a collective cry of "Oh, hey, flesh!" from all of us??

I mean, seriously, look at Uncle Joss's knack for choosing talented performers. Lohan doesn't have a prayer against his past casting experience. Morena looks the part, Gina can surely act the part...and Summer? She's the best of both worlds.
