This idea just randomly occurred to me a few days ago.

What song would you guys pick to describe any Firefly character?

Since it's my thread, I'll start. "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West for Book. I was just listening to it, and I thought it kind of fit him.

Bon Jovi - Dead or Alive for either Mal or Jayne not sure which it fits better for
Crowded House - Don't Dream its Over for Mal

I don't know of any others I think Inara Wash Zoe Simon and River are tough.

I've actually been thinking about this one. Too much ipod time on the treadmill I suppose.

Simon and River- Coldplay, Fix You. If anyone knows how to make videos, this would be the best one ever. I've wanted to do it but my knowledge in that area couldn't fill a thimble. Also, U2's Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own would be a good one.

Jayne- AC/DC, Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)

Mal and Inara- U2, Trip Through Your Wires

Mal- U2, In God's Country

Book- Rich Mullins, I Will Sing. Never thought about it until now, another good one.

Kaylee- Allison Krauss and Union Station, Every Time You Say Goodbye

That's all I can come up with right now. I know I cheated a bit and had a song for a relationship instead of a person, but if you don't like it, don't read it.

I had a few for the cast, but one that just seems to fit is NIN "Fragile", it describes River and Simon's relationship well, I urdge you to listen and see in your mind the things that happen between them. Funny, they're my least favorite chatacters, but there are songs that make them pop in your head.

Listening to Creed's "Six feet from the edge.", I think I found a match for Mal. Good Thread.

Edit: Six Feet is DEFINATELY Mal.

I will have to agree with those saying that Mal's song is Creed's Six feet from the Edge. Or maybe Sum 41's song "Thanks For Nothing", or Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt".

For Simon and Kaylee's song, I think I would have to go with a local Blues/Rock trio from my home city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The song is called "Rollar Coaster Love" by The Perpetrators.

For Inara's song about Mal, it would be another local band here from Winnipeg, called "Art Fag" by Vanderveen (the song has nothing to do with the title. Really.).

My choice for a song for Mal and Zoe would have to be "My Old Life" by Superseed.

For Book, I would have to pick Johnny Cash's rendition of "Personal Jesus".

For Jayne, it would either be "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" or "Money Talks" by AC/DC.

i was going to say Black Dog by Led Zeppelin for Jayne, but that is absolutely perfect.

this doesn't really fit perfectly, but i think Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult fits for Mal. when i saw Out of Gas i thought of Mal's bravery in the face of death and i think of that song.

Well, given Kaylee's comment about what gets twixt her neathers in Serenity, I think Cindi Lauper's "She Bop" would be appropriate :)

I think Jonny Cash's cover of "Hurt" could be made into a really incredible fan video, but I can't decide if it should be Mal or River centric. Probably River, since whenever I hear the words "The needle tears a hole" I think of that scene with the doctor jamming the needle into her head.
