Seems like Slither is getting some good reviews and especially the Captain. This (along with Firefly/Serenity) maybe the movie that really gets Nathan noticed. That way he can push for another Serenity movie.

Will be there and I'm not even taking a blanket.

Anyone in Salinas/Monterey/Santa Cruz aimin' to see this here flick? Cap'n asked so nicely, *shrug* I figure we oughtta go. But if we're gonna do it, we should have a right shindig...
'Course, it's a mite hard to do that all on one's lonesome.

So, anyone round about these here parts? 'Be mighty obliged if you'd drop me a line.

Railean,
Where can I get a pic like that! Is it posted somewhere? Because I need that at work. Oh, yeah.

On topic, my husband is a projectionist and he called as he was building Slither when it arrived at the theater today.

I am very jealous of his Nathan looking abilities.
He'll be walking by a theater and oops, theres Nathan on screen. Gorramit. I want that job!

Done my duty Sir! salutes

Hope you had a nice Birthday Captain!

Sorry - couldn't stick around for the credits though...power went out at the theater just as the movie ended! The Movie Alliance told us to wait to find out what happened - but the whole load of us rebels escaped out the back door!

Loads of gross fun - and of course our boy was shiny (and gooey!).

I saw it with a friend. Wore my brown coat, too. The movie was actually pretty good. It definitely had some gross moments and some good laughs, too. There were only eight other people in the theatre, though, so that's unfortunate. I was hoping this movie might shove the Captain into the public's eye, but I think Slither is a harder sell to the general public than even Serenity was... Oh well. Even still, I'll see if some other friends will see it with me next weekend. Gotta support the cause...

Bump for Our Captain!

This weekend and part of next week may be your last chance to see SLiTHER on the big Darn Screen!

International fans, you may want to check if you can buy advance tickets...and if you can get a refund if the release is cancelled because theaters THINK people will not come to see the movie.

Ate popcorn throughout, except when laughing too hard. And once, when I jumped at something that hadn't been spoiled already. Was grateful to have had all the spoilers.

Had to go to a matinee because I didn't want to come home in the dark (such a wuss I am).

I have done my duty, sans browncoat regalia as I went after being at a funeral today and had had no chance to go home to change.
A fellow browncoat and I both had ugly weeks and decided we needed to see the Captain more than we needed to hold dance class. I'm mighty grateful she came with me to let me know when it was safe to look.
Gross, but an incredibly funny movie.

Me, too!

This film is packed with information you can't collect in one viewing. Partly it's the fast and furious pace of some sections and partly it's the wealth of detail that Gunn puts in the background of so many shots.

This is on my DVD list and I plan to give the Pause button a serious workout.

James Gunn (SLiTHER director) reported this on website http://www.jamesgunn.com/index.html too.

"4-07-06
Firstly, SLiTHER was listed this week as #1 on Entertainment Weekly's "Must List." "

So I ran out to the store to buy EW and you
subscribers must get the next issue first.

Is the EW issue you are talking about #872?

Whoops, found FOLLOWMAL's answer on the Appreciatin' Nathan thread at www.serenitymovie.org

And here is the FOLLOWMAL's cover pic:

Entertainment Weekly #872 April 14th.

Bumpin' this for Birthday Boy...

Seriously, 'coats, this flick needs to be seen in a theater first, unless you have the all-time Huge Screen (10' diagonal might do, and full blackout conditions except for the EXIT sign) Surround-Sound home theater.

*Then* you can get the DVD and wolf down steak tartare while watching.

This probably won't be on screens much if anywhere past this week.

The good news is that the production budget (according to James Gunn)was only 15 million USD, so even with marketing $ included it could make its money back sooner than Serenity.

New Zealand and New Zealanders have been involved in lots of firsts - but movie screenings are not one of them :(

So, June 1st?

CURSES!!! I'll be winging my way over to Australia that morning and will be nowhere near a cineplex for two weeks. I'll probably miss the whole thing unless thousands of NZers rush off to see it.

Thank goodness for multi-zone DVD players ;)

As for the DVD release date, one hopes they'll wait a decent interval, just for form's sake.

While I'm not for a wholesale suspension of decency (as Simon indicates, it can be all one has left, out in the black) I believe that the Decency of Intervals could be bent for this DVD.

There's so much detail to be looked for. I caught enough to know this flick will be very satisfyingly viewed with Pause and Rewind.

Nathan is Bill, not Mal, and there's only one lashy shot that I noticed. Also a soft little good-ol-boy paunch. LOL. Gunn films from different angles than Whedon's. It's a different look for the same guy, but plenty of goodness.

Note that although "gore" is mentioned in discussions, there's very little. It's slime and goo, latex and CGI. Oh, and pulsation. Lots of pulsation.

Raving again...don't want to spoil it.
