OK, this is my first ever thread (swallows nervously, and glances around) so bear with me here.

Here we go...

Let's say you had the chance to meet one of the crew of Serenity (and just one), which character would it be, and why?

I'd have to go for Kaylee myself - simply because (as I may have mentioned before) there's more than one Simon that likes her. She's fun, quirky and has a good heart.

What about the rest of you?

I'd want to meet Mal.

He has such a good heart. I'd buy the rounds and play pool with him and just listen to the stories I hope he'd tell.

They are real!.....aren't they

This is a good question, I would have to say "Wash"

The reason being, it seems like we know so little about him, and short of the series coming back, another movie, official novelization, and a minor miracle involving a stomach plug the size of a graefruit- we never will

Hmmmmmm... tough question... do I really have to choose just one? In that case I'd probably say Zoe. I'd like to know how she manages to keep her emotions in check the way she does without coming across as totally inhuman. And I'd ask her to teach me how to be as cool as she is

How's business?

Well, reality is just what our eyes and senses tell us it is, so.....

Seriously though, I agree - in some way the crew is real to each and every one of us (just not in a crazy kinda way! lol) and it's a sign of how good the show is that we care for it, the ship and the crew like real people - and like a family.

I'm of two minds here:

I'd LOVE to sit down with Book and pepper him with questions. Wouldn't that be a doozy of a lunch.

Probably, though, I'd have to go with Mal. We're very similar, and I'd like to ask him about it.

Then again, staring at Inara up close would not be a punishment either....hmmmm.

Can I just change my answer to Yes?

Sadly, if they were real, most of the crew would have nothing to do with me. I'm a civilian living on (the equivalent of) a Core world. The chances of my encountering a Rim transport crew socially are pretty much nil. Even if we ended up at the same venue, I think the conversation would be guarded and short (except maybe with Kaylee. That would be fun).

Nor do I move in the higher social circles Inara frequents, so I'd never have a chance to meet her, either.

The best I could hope for, I think, is a conversation with Simon on the basis of shared school memories ("Oh, you went to the University of Sihnon, too? I did a semester there."). I'd like that.

Okay, not going with one of the standard answers here, and I'll explain why.

River.

Because - it would never be boring. You never know what's going to come out of her mouth at any given time. It would be a trip.

I would just want to make sure she saw me as a friend. I would NOT want to be around her during Fruity Oaty Bar commercials though.

Cool thread mate.

I'd have to say Wash - I've always like those funny, slightly awkward characters with limited physical menace and not much passion for fighting, but loads of heart and loyalty for his friends. Plus, he'd be a scream.

Or Kaylee. Ahh. Kaylee. She's just so gorram purty.

Mal...I adore all the characters, but it's Mal that's closest to my heart. Probably has something to do with the fact that he was based on Joss himself (need I go on?). Might also have something to do with Nathan's adorableness.

Great question :) Don't be scared you are more than welcome to say your peace here :). Its an obvoius one but Mal. I like Mals values, his convictions. He is not a bad man but he's not a social person. He cares for himself but he also cares for the people under his wing. As long as Mal and his closesest are well he is happy. Very like me and thats why i like him and that's why i'd like to spend time with him :)

Well, Kaylee would be my obvious choice. I'd likely resort to mumbling and babbling like a moonbrained schoolboy with his first crush, but it'd be worth it (Plus she'd likely be able to figure why my car's making such a racket. So it'd be win/win all around :)

But, she'd likely spend all day being whimsical about Simon and such, so... my second choice would be Book. I'm still dying to learn what sort of mysterious past he'd been hiding, so I couldn't pass up a chance to take a shot at getting him to open up. I'm sure he's got plenty of good stories, too. And while we might not share the same belief structure, I'm sure we'd agree on many of the same values. Be real shiny to get to pick the brain of someone with that much hard-earned wisdom.

Actually I'd have to pick Zoe, if for no other reason than I doubt Wash would be comfortable with me hanging around alone with his wife so would tag along. Two BDH's for the price of one.

Seriously though, I think Zoe, of the whole crew is most comfortable with the situation she finds herself. (Of course that may be subject to change WHEN the sequel comes out...) But everyone else has issues regarding their situation and I'd love to delve into how Zoe manages to stay so centered.

Okay I admit it, I'd do lunch with any of them, including the kid that throws-up all the time.

You know that was my thought. She has the most interesting lines that make no sense at the time.

But than again I might to talk with Book too. Someone we didn't get as much background on would be good. I want to learn more about them.
