Well, it was too good to be true, and far as timing is concerned. It no longer is on sale, whether it was a typo or not, plus I didn't see a preorder discount of $10.
oh well....

Talk peace but, carry a BIG stick.

I think this is great. With most series costing $50 or more, sometimes $100. It will be eaiser for people who have never seen, heard of Firefly to be shopping around Christmas time. For only 20-30 bucks a lot of people will probably give it a shot. I mean, Wow the complete series for only $20, why not.

Did you try to look online? I did that and it wasnt available. I had to go in to the store physically to get it.

I preordered today. Thank you for the post. At this price you could give the sets away as christmas gifts.

I rolled into Suncoast yesterday and bought it for $21.59 (after tax). The preorder cost was $19.99. This isn't available online, just in the store.
Go get it asap, it's got to be a typo. That store is so damn expensive for everything else.

I just went there and paid for mine last night, but the best part was the cashier. I told her I wanted to pre-order a dvd set and with obvious hope in her voice she asked "Which one?" I said "Firefly" and she let out with a triumphant "Yes!" and explained she was a huge Joss Whedon fan (and proceded to spend the next few minutes trying to get me to pre-order Buffy season 5).

It sure was shiny to find another enthusiastic Browncoat in San Diego!

Thanks for the pointer--At $20.00, I was able to get one for myself and one lend out as I try to evangelize other people on what they missed--all for the price of a single copy! It makes a much better Christmas gift at this price, too.

Just for people who might not know and/or don't have a Suncoast nearby - Sam Goody is the same company and is also running this special in store, pre-order only. But according to the lady at the counter - even in store after the 9th the price will only be $30.

Yep. This is legit. Just phoned the local Suncoast. In-the-store pre-orders are $5.00 down for the deposit, with an additional $14.99 plus tax due at pick-up.

The price elsewhere has been averaging around $36.53. (Checked with Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Amazon.com, Buy.com, DVDPlanet.com, and Deepdiscountdvd.com).

This is an incredibly sweet deal.

Also, at least at our local Sam Goody, in store the DVD is written up as Firefly: Season 1. I like the sound of that much better than this 'complete series' crap. Have to wonder if just maybe we have a browncoat in management/marketing somewhere in the corp?

I ordered 3 copies today at Sam Goody for $20 each. So the sale price is still good. The clerk had to order it from a hardcopy catalog number. When he checked the price for Firefly on his computer, the price was listed at $45. He gave me the catalog order anyway.

sa-WEET! At that price I can use the $15 certificate I got from Suncoast when I pre-ordered LOTR:Two Towers. Heck, it'll practically be free!!

makes me glad Amazon cancelled my order when I didn't make the 45-day deadline for payment.

I just got back from SunCoast and their new Catalog is out with the updated prices. $29.99 for Firefly. I wish I'd read this message board a day or two earlier!

It's the 30th here, and I still got it for $20 today. Odd.

My damned efficient store must have put the new catalog in their folder as soon as it arrived, instead of slacking off and doing it after the store close.

Maybe they get their mail earlier in the day than your store.

Either way it was annoying, but I'll pony up the extra $15 since I already ordered it from Barnes & Nobles.

11THHOUR

My local Suncoast store (L.A. area) is still pre-selling the Firefly DVD for $19.99 as of Dec. 2nd.

There's a good chance this will change after the sets arrive on Dec. 9th. But I prepaid the entire amount so they'll have to honor the $19.99.

Also- If I heard correctly, you might be able to get it for $20 up to the ninth. I could be wrong, don't quote me.

looks like it depends on the store management

one friend of mine went Sun 11/30 and was able to get the 19.99 price, another person from work went 12/01 after work and was told $29.99 (same store)

so I'd say its worth calling and asking- even the $29.99 is less expensive than Amazon and Best Buy- last time I checked anyway
