Buffy season 5 was to be the end, and IT WAS GREAT!
Buffy season 7's finale was AWSOME!!
Serenity (if it is indeed a finale) was MONUMENTAL!!!!
Angel's S5 finale was (well, I hear, and I WILL find out for myself) JAW-DROPPING!!!!

Can this boy end a story?
I like Mr. Whedon.
Whedon good.
Lack of same is bad.

Yep, he's definately got the goods. However, Angel S5 was a little disapointing. As far as Im aware, they still werent sure whether it was 'the end' or not...I would have liked some more 'closure' on Angel (and on the whole Angel/Buffy issue actually)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I'm probably one of the few who liked Angel Season 4 more than Season 5, and yet the final scene is as good a way to end the series as anything I could have thought of.

Of course if it had been picked up for a sixth season I would love to have seen the aftermath of that scene.

What? Like Angel becomes human again? Too happy for Joss, I think....

Nah, they should have *all* been killed. That would have been closure.

Yeah I agree. I think the final end should have been similar to 'The Wish' - you know, eerie music playing as each one of the characters go down. The impression of the Buffyverse I got was that all the Forces of Good were ever doing was buying time...

What's with the 'kill em all' types?
That's as bad as 'no one dies' types.

They need to move off the edge...

I'm not a fan of the old "lets kill someone off for ratings" endings :P More so when its for shock value than for emotional value. If someone has to be killed, I like to see some mourning, funeral etc done properly. When you've gotten to know a character, I often feel like its "this guy dies, NEXT SCENCE!" and as a viwer you don't get time to come to terms with it :D

But I'm biased, 'cause Joss managed to kill off a lot of my favourite characters (Anya from Buffy, Fred + Cordellia from Angel, and I liked all of the Serenity folks).

On the Angel note- I found that whole show pretty weird. I enjoyed it, although the storyline seemed...weird, and the ending left too many questions running through my head. I can only hope that the ending was because of uncertainly regarding another seies and not intentional.

I really hope that "Serenity" wasn't the last installment from the 'verse we're going to get. Killing off two of the main series characters was probably an additional nail in the coffin though, and perhaps a sign that there's little hope :(

OK, fair enough. But a few more would have been nice. More dramatic. More apocalyptical. Less "there are enough left so if we get another series, we'll be ok" as mentioned above. A bit harsh, I know, but that thought crept into my head and spoilt it a little.

There's hope. It may just take some time.

Naw. I had my fill of that with Blake's 7 and Forever Knight. That's what they do when they want to end something and don't want the fans to bug them about bringing it back.

Joss seems to go with the idea that life in general doesn't just stop at the end of the story. There's always more and there's always someone left to live it. Much like RL.

Sorry gotta say last episode of Angel was a real let down.

I don't care who lives, who dies, I just want some closure on the issues raised, any amount of closure would do.

Like Firefly/Serenity, there are still things unexplored like books past, Mal/Inara, but it gave you some closure, plenty in fact, so I'm happy.

Angel on the other hand, what happened to the prophecy? Angel or Spike the one mentioned? Do they win or lose? Does Angel get with Buffy again (straight answer on that one please Joss, don't care either way, just wanna know). And I have to say poor Wesley, he was such a great character.

I can't blame Joss, he got kinda pinned with the cancellation very late on, hoping to revive it etc (wish it had carried on)

Buffy had a good ending too.

Joss Rules.

Of course, this is just my opinion but Spike ends up being the one the phrophecy mentions. Angel signed away his chance to become human in order to gain the trust of the Circle of the Black Thorn. Angel, being that he really does not like Spike, neglects to tell him this later. Ah, so like him. Concerning whether they win or lose, if you listen to the commentary on the DVD in the finale, you may get a better explanation about this question.

Well, I can explain it to the best of my recollection. Whomever was doing the commentary (I forget who it was but it was not Joss Whedon, surprisingly) said that the point was that they would always be fighting. They would not stop. If some of them died and some of them lived, the ones that lived would continue to fight. That, I think, was the concept behind the show that the writers were trying to emphasize. The eternal struggle, a war that never ends.
