It's "ketchup", dagnabbit! The only thing that comes to mind when I hear catsup is cats wating dinner ("cats" "sup", get it?).

Pay no mind to the last comment. I'm suffering from severe mental fogginess (otherwise known as being at work too long).

How about "finely blended tomato-based concoction that one uses to flavor other edibles"?

Or, hey, catchup! Naw, looks silly...ketsup! Um, ok...never mind.

Does anyone really use "catsup"? I mean I have seen it, but I can't really think of where besides maybe on some generic store-brand bottle...

In spite of what you may have heard about, "Catsup," and, "Ketchup," the correct term is, in fact, "Heinz 57."

Angry that you have it and he doesn't is all.

See it's the law of conservation of condiments. Whenever you mix some over here some of the metaphysical stuff disappears over there.

But as long as we're talking about combinations here, honey and butter all the way. Spread some on a piece of toast or some pita bread. Mmmm, yummers.

This is what is technically referred to as a comdimentree. (Pronounced "Kon-De-Mon-Tray"). Another example is a "salad" consisting entirely of packet-derived croutons, bacon bits, and dressing. I'm sure anyone who's ever been a starving student can come up with other examples.

That always seemed so cruel to me, the little ketchups out there roughing it on the range, fighting to survive, making plans for the future, and then one day, without warning, BANG! Killed and sold off to sit on a restaurant table until all of their precious bodily fluids have been forced out of them and devoured with hamburgers or fries.

Poor little things never saw it coming.

I'm suddenly reminded of my time in Italy (I love that place by the way) I was Assisi and was waiting for spaghetti for ages. Then it occurred to me, this is a small restaurant in a small city on a hill. The didn't have space to store the spaghetti so the had to go out and kill one, but they were on a hill, not the natural habitat of spaghetti so I had to wait for them to go out, hunt down a spaghetti, catch it, kill it, and boil it up for me.

It was worth it though, nothing like a freshly killed spaghetti.

-

If you don't see how this related to the ketchups and their natural predators the bland happy meals ... well you just kind of have to grok it for yourself.
