Ive had that kind of synergy with one ex girlfriend.

And I dont think Ill ever feel comfertable taking advice from Pamela Andersson. Its just wrong!

Have thew absolute dealbreakers in a relationship. One thing I wouldnt stand is if the person thought less of me for being a browncoat, as long as she respekts my interests though (and me) im fine with most kinds of people.

Spooning is lovely. On most Sunday mornings Significant other and I curl up with my head on his chest. We sleep like that too. It kills his sholder but he said he's not willing to give that feeling up. Damn now I'm feeling all mushy!
I think I'll call him at work now.

I have absolutely no problem talking to people, but then if there is a hint of attraction, I turn into a fool. The fool can manifest itself many ways, most commonly in the "aaaahhhh, he kissed me!"--now what?, but also I just forget how to speak.

I thought Kip and Lafonda were totally cute!

But onto me. I don't think I could date a guy shorter than I am. I could handle someone of equal height, but not shorter. I'm 5'9", so not too tall. I think that's the height of the "average" man. Nothing drives me crazier than when I see a guy who is like 6'5" dating a girl who is right around 5'. It's not fair!

As for my reasoning, I think it's because I would feel huge and more awkward than I already am.

I'm only 5'3" and significant other is 5'5" it's kind of nice we fit together well. Although I'm still a little too tall for his tastes.
Being with someone whos' much taller is nice but one time I was showering with someone and got poked in the belly it was a little odd.

Okay, another plea for advice here.

I've just been chatting to my friend whom I occasionally sleep with (the one I mentioned a while back) and he confessed that while staying with his ex-girlfriend last weekend they'd ended up having sex. My immediate thought was OHMYGOD I'm going to loose what we have and I'm going to have to cut him off if he gets into a relationship and it'll all be awkward and horrible.
Then he said that they'd agreed it was just a one-time thing and he didn't plan on it happening again and I was happy again, just glad that he'd had a good time and REALLY pleased that he'd told me (I hate to be the last one to know stuff, or be protected from stuff for my own good!)

Not sure what all of this means. My sister keeps insisting that I am far more serious in this 'thing' than he is and that I'll only end up getting hurt, but the fact that I wasn't jealose tell's me that I'm not in love (never have been so don't know what it's like).

I know this whole situation is a little unconventional, but what are people's opinions? Am I risking a really great friendship here (it seems to have worked for over a year now but things get more complicated when others are involved)

I'm off to bed now, but I'd love to read your advice in the morning.

SAMEERTIA

comes out of lurking mode

He told you. He was honest. And that's the best part of all!

I've identified as "open-relationship" for quite a while now. I've had primary lovers and 'ummm...friends' and occasional fun-dates.

The key is honesty, with your partners and with yourself. It can be a shocker to suddenly learn that your umm...friend just slept with someone else when you weren't prepared to hear it, but I'd much rather hear the truth than be told a lie!
And by the same token, he has a right to know if your feelings about him or about the relationship change.

So... here's a question for you. Are you seeing other people, too? And have you discussed that with him? I find I'm far less liable to feel hurt and left out when I'm having fun, too.

Just a point of note; my primary and I have a "24 Hour" clause. Spontaneous things happen sometimes, and we work through those, but for the most part it's "I've got a date Saturday, and I want to play with this person. Are you comfortable with that?"
(Safer-sex is always a MUST! No matter what else is happening. )

I've almost always had that happen to me. I don't know if anyone remembers me talking about my last boyfriend's full-body orgasms, but I would always have one too. And then during sex I would come with him as well. Basically every time, except once I think.

I've missed a lot again! Most of it was talk from tall women, though. I am a fairly petite girl and am lucky if my dates don't tower over me. I try not to base whether I would date someone on height, but really I don't always like it when they're a lot bigger than me. Ex was 5'10" and that was about right.
Deal breakers? Have to say fanatical Christians are not a group I would date. Probably even just practicing Christians. Views would clash so badly that it wouldn't work (yes, speaking from experience here. Sorry if I sound like a horrible person.) or if I caught them in a lie. Don't date liars. Basically not respecting my views or not cherishing my trust. Or if they hated Firefly.
I have a healthy diet and all, but I do eat meat. Don't think it has anything to do with anything, but to each their own.
Totally agreeing with Sameertia on the honesty thing here. Can't give advice on "friends" like that cuz I've never done it, but honesty is good, is possitive, and if you're enjoying it...*shrug* Also agree with the testing thing.
It's so good to be back at this discussion! Did I miss anything?

Deepgirl - I have absolutely nothing to say to people I don't know. I am horribly shy, but if I am at work, or somebody does something to a loved one - you can't shut me up. I guess its just that I am not good at small talk, and don;t want to bore people.

Thanks Sameertia and PhoenixRose! Your advice makes me feel lots better. I honestly thought I'd have a lot more people disapproving of me but I'm glad that you're all sweet and openminded!

I was a bit worried that some complicating possessive feelings might have crept up on me unaware but something Sameertia said got me thinking. No I am not in any other relationship at the moment (or even close to being) and I think this is what I'm feeling jealose about, That I'm the stay-at-home boring fall-back option whilst he's out there having fun. I think it'd be best all round if I found myself a proper relationship (I know, easier said than done! Maybe I'll meet someone through PhoenixRose's singles thread!) and we went back to being just friends. At the moment it does feel a bit unequal.

By the way, thanks for pushing me to ask about the safe sex. It had crossed my mind but I didn't want to offend him. Now I realise that I have every right to know!

Oh my, take a couple days off from the 'boards and looks like I've slept through most of two or three whole sequels to the imponderables :)

Just a couple brief responses to a wide range of topics here:

Cuddling: Yes please! I've sort of got intimacy issues sometimes that I'm trying to work through. Being comfortable enough to just hang out and curl up together is usually a good sign to me that things are going good. Plus... why not? Sometimes wish I could detach my inside arm, but an occasional limb falling asleep is a small price :P

Piercings: I'm OCD. I can't even wear a hat or glasses 'cause they bug me. So no jewelry for this guy. Not a huge fan of piercings on women, either. Current GF has a tongue stud, and I'm not a huge fan but I'm learning to cope.

Deal-breakers: Well, on the subject of piercings... It's possible that one of those "other" piercings could be a deal-breaker. I love tattoos on women, but piercings just seem odd to me. Like if something like that had "occured" naturally, like a tumour or something, I'd get it removed (not have it jewel-encrusted). Being in my mid-20's, though, I have to realize I'm sort of out-numbered, though. I suppose I'm a tad archaic for this century. So who knows... I really hate those belly-piercings, though, even though they seem to be growing ever more prevalant. .

Anyways, just trying to get caught up again. Not like I can pass up a chance to throw my opinions into the mix.

There's two sets of genes in my family. The short/fat gene and the tall/skinny gene. Guess which one I got?

Speaking of such things, I have a question that may have already been answered. I've heard that some men like a little extra padding on their women-folk. So out of curiosity, what do the men on this board prefer?

DeepGirl, I am not sure when this question came up, but I have no problem answering it again. I do not really like stick figures, with bones sticking out all over the place. I prefer rounded curves..."padding", as you call it. Softness is good!

I have a few questions, one of which I posted in the middle of an earlier discussion...and it got lost:
Breast implants...what makes women want/get them? I realize there is a pressure by society (read: stupid fashion magazines/stupid males), but there are plenty of women who just get them.
I can't really understand why you would want to alter your body by placing things into your bodies.
Ladies, help a confused male out?

Also, sleeping temperature. I like to have the room as cold as possible (think meat locker) with several coats of quilting above me and naked as a jaybird. How do you all like to sleep?

Regarding breast implants, I say make the best of what you have. There's no reason a woman can't be beautiful with what she was born with.

Regarding sleeping temperature, I prefer it moderately warm with a pair of really comfy pj's.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I am 5"6' or thereabouts, my legs are long for my frame, my waist is short. My jeans never drag, but they don't always reach my waist, which I find uncomfortable (as for jeans that are actually designed to ride low, well, you can imagine)
Implants I don't understand. Would never, er, particularly "need" them myself, but speaking both as a woman and someone who likes women, I do not like fake boobies. They are not soft, they cannot be fun to play with, they generally have no sensation, and they look ridiculous. I'm sorry I can't enlighten you, Tristan; I don't get it either.
Sleeping temp, I like it to be warmish, at least over sixty, with a few layers of covers, though I also enjoy the naked as a jaybird approach (though sometimes I have to wear warm fuzzy socks and tuck my hands under the pillow because my fingers and toes get very icy) and, I have to say, it is always nice when there's another person in there with me... also naked as a jaybird, of course. They add their warmth, and you know, coziness. Seems like it's been a long while since I had that particular pleasure.

I have never understood why a woman wants implants. But then I have resonably large breasts. I want mine reduced. I can understand it in the case of mastectomies, but that is about it.

Sleeping temp for me should be cool but with lots of blankets, even in summer.

Deepgirl, most of the men I have known like voluptuous but toned. Stick figures just make me want to give them a sandwich.

I'm small chested, always have been, was made fun of long ago... but I would never give it up! I haven't bought a real bra since high school, can go free if I want.

Actually, I know more women who have gotten reductions than enhancements! Big knockers get in the way of sports and stuff, and the kind of attention showered on the well endowed is not the kind I want.

Even so, I don't believe anyone should be stuck with the body they're born in, not if they're unhappy with it and the technology exists. Dye your hair, get a tattoo, peirce away, have big boobies if it's your thing. Whatever! You'll find somewhere else out there who likes things the same way, if you look long enough.

That's my theory, anyway.

Sleeping naked is a must! I prefer it cool with lots of covers and a warm body to snuggle with - I get cold easy! A warm room with just a sheet is all right too, if there's a breeze from an open window or a fan.

I do like tattoos and piercings. I've seen a lot of tattoos that are really well done. And piercings are okay in moderation.

Never felt completely comfortable sleeping naked, though. Too paranoid, I guess.

well im a guy but the science behind it is that large breasts show a womens comming of age and that they are ready for babies so modern day implants are a way of tricking guys thinking that women are ready, even if they dont want children on a subconsus level.

women have large breasts for breast feeding and when they are developed its the sign that its time for sex and lots of it, then babies

Yeah, I'll answer the "padding" question again, too :)

I've dated women of all shapes and sizes, and from my own quite limited experience, I find I rather prefer a gal with some meat on her. Plus I've got a bit of a gut myself, so I can't really hold people to any terribly high standards. Things get hot and heavy it's nice to have something to hold on to, and bones just aren't as fun to caress...

I think as long as we're talking somewhere within the boundaries of good health, it's all good :) Some people are naturally skinny, some people not so much, and variety is the spice of life after all.

Okay so to be honest, I like all the various shapes and sizes of women. Its just those "My poop smells like roses" bunch that I ignore. I've had those kind call me "stuck up". F 'em. OK... but their argument is this: red meat causes impotence... have better orgasms. Is this just for men? I'm confused.

So - the guys here are so far unanimous about wanting to snuggle with a soft body, and yay to you! But out there in real life it seems a lot of men (and the same can apply to woman) want a pretty arm ornament, skinny woman big breasted woman are a trophy. It's so sad.

I have a question. My ex didn't ever want to wear a hat of any kind, because he was mostly bald and if he walked in a room with a hat on, then took it off, there'd be that moment when everyone sees and that's just too unpleasant. So he'd walk around all winter with a frozen head. Poor guy.

Any thoughts about the big hair loss thing? Hair restoration: it's like the male equivalent of boob jobs. In a way.

Hair loss...for awhile there, I thought I was going to lose mine (father and grandfather both began losing hair early-I know, it usually runs from the maternal side...), but it turns out I am not going to. I had accepted the fact, and was going to see how I looked bald. I do know that it freaks some men out (comb-over anyone?), but not so much myself. I would not have been happy in the beginning, but would have accepted it.

ah yes, the Trophy Wife - i saw this happen to a friend - i'm not sure how long she was married to this guy, but not long after his business became very successful, he divorced her and found his "perfect" woman. My friend was really torn up about it for a while, until several of her friends pointed out how much better off she was without the bozo.

Speaking as a guy, i don't know why we do it... it has to be an ego, mid-life crisis, thing... and, believe me, not all of us are like that, but it really does make the lot of us look like uncareing, insensitive jerks... and you are right to criticize.

i'm not much help in the hair issue... i'm pushing 50 and still have the hair of my youth... (just a touch of gray... thank you)
But that winter without a hat has to be harsh... i work outside a lot, and on really cold days, have to have my Mad Bomber... really locks in the heat.... but to answer your question.. if i were to lose my hair - it's gone - no rug for me... but i'm just an old fart and not trying to impress anyone....

National Orgasm day? Neato! But it seems to have already passed.
On the issues of body piercings and tattoos I don't really give much thought to people looks if I like them I like them. But I enjoy hearing the reasoning behind peoples tattoos. For the most part though I think tattoos on older people look just plain tacky! And piercings on really young girls creeps me out (tounge studs).
I like skinny girls but then again I guess I wish I could be one. I'm not fat but always had hips and a chest. The hips make it damn near impossible to find pants that arn't a clouple of feet too long for me.
While I'm not even close to healthy I hear that eating right and excercise does increase you're bodies reaction to sexual pleasure.
Okay I think this is the last thing discussed I love to sleep in the buff it just feels better.
Especially on crisp cool sheets. I usually only wear PJs is I'm feeling ugly or I'm angry with Significant other.

An I carried such a torch

Wow, I missed a lot!

Piercings: As long as there weren't too many of them, I could go out with a guy that had them.

Height: I could never date someone that wasn't taller than me, I think it goes to the instinctive thing....I want to be protected and cherished.

Sleeping: The room has to be cold enough that I don't die from heat under my pile of blankets.

And since many people have expressed problems with finding pants that fit: My problem is finding pants that are long enough AND have a small enough waist. I guess there aren't many tall skinny girls out there (no matter what lies the magazines may try to tell you).

Hey, if any men are really worried about the baldness you should head over to the partay thread! They seem to have a surplus of hair there! Admittedly it has turned rampant and vicious so perhaps not the best rug to go for!!

Personally I think as soon as it begins to go then a guy should just go whols hog and shave it off! I do like a shaven head!! (Although on some it just looks downright scary I must admit)

I had that thought about shaving my head when I first had the fear...but I have been told by my loving wife that it might look weird. Up until a year or so ago, the shortest my hair had gotten was shoulder-length. When I cut it short (had to look professional for the job), some people did not recognize me. Hair has always been a big "part" of my self-image, but I have reached the point that I could deal if it decided to leave.
Other males feel this way?
How do females feel about going bald? I know it may be rare, but it does happen...

I think men should be proud of their baldness. I know that it can be a large blow to self-esteem. But it shouldn't be something that they should be afraid of. Besides, there's a lot of men that look sexy bald.

Ah! I was only gone a little while. And not ive got a thousand things to reply to.

First off, I like slim girls, that might make me a bad person but its just my preference. Although I do not like the skeleton look of supermodels, creeps me out.

Secondly, breasts. Wouldnt want a gal of mine to have implants, there not half as fun and usually not very pretty since they look all wrong on the person.
Also Im not very attracted to big breasts. Like small to medium ones in general. (although there have been exceptions)

Third, I sleep in a warm room with very varm and nice sheets. Im used to sleeping in a icecold room in the same sheets since thats how cold my room in my parents house was before I moved, havent gotten used to it yet. Sleep in my underwear since I live with a my brother and a gal and they occasionaly barge in to ask me stuff or borrow stuff, mainly my brother who I often find playing computer games next to my bed when I wake up in the morning. Cause of the heat issue I would probebly sleep nude otherwise.

And lastly, I have medium long hair (ends just below my shoulders), and I like my hair. Dont look forward to balding, but I dont think its any real threat since my dad has almost all his hair still.

Did I miss anything? In that case poke me and let me know.

On the hair loss thing: Not exactly looking forward to it, myself. I've already got thinning hair, so I don't know just exactly how bald I'm going to get, but it seems like it's definately in the cards for me. Right now I've just got the really accentuated widow's peak thing going on, and my hair is thick enough I can sort of hide it. So far it's okay (I think it makes look a bit more dignified :)

I've promised myself, though, that I'll never have a comb-over. That's just a little sad to see sometimes.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I have to say, here, that I am a big fan of hair. I might feel differently as I get older, but I personally like a man with a lot of hair; something to run my fingers through. Soft hair is a huge plus for me in a partner. If I loved someone, I wouldn't hold hair loss against them, but it might make me a little sad.
As for losing my own hair, that would also make me sad. If it were to ever fall out, I think I would pull a Sinead and just be bald. But I love to have my hair played with as much as I love playing with hair, so I would be sad.

Wow huge thread, i think that some guys look better without hair and just look crazy with hair but thats some guys NOT ALL OF THEM.

I dont seem to feel cold, i can wear a t-shirt and jeans to -3 C and still be ok after that i get cold (think its a birth defect or sommin, i was a premature sezarian or however you spell it).

Another thing is that the demographics page shows that there is nothing in common between us except that we are mostly white and this page shows we all love snuggling and a little padding.

strange.

I would die if I went bald. I would just look creepy without hair unfortunately- I'd definitely have to go out and buy a wig!
Implants- personally I would never get them as I happen to like the size of my chest but I do understand some women wanting to get them- although, plastic surgery is not cheap, so where do so many women get that kind of money?! That's something I wonder about.
Sleeping- I like sleeping in a fairly warm room with some nice cool sheets and wearing a small amount of clothing- have to wear something though as I do not live alone.

I'm glad I get 5 minutes to check in on the weekend, to check the bald comments!

I had the bald (well, almost) boyfriend, and it didn't bug me a bit. I liked hugging his fuzzy head. But I have to admit part of the draw to Mal/Nathan is that pretty pretty hair, I bet it's soooo soft, and long enough to grab hold of...

A-hem. Anyway

Going bald myself? That would suck, but I think I'd just shave it and get a pretty tattoo on the back. Good thing about being a scientist - I can look weird if I want!

But I'd buy lots of crazy wigs too. Ala Samantha in Sex and the City.

I have another topic to broach, but I'm going to wait till Monday so I can follow the responses!!
