I love Firefly. however, I give a slight edge to Battlestar. I think the character development is better as is the story (due to volume of episodes). It has everything FF has except the humor. Great acting, effects, drama etc....What do y'all think?

Not a fair comparison. Battlestar Galactica has more content to work off of. What's the matter with you boy? This thread deserves to be put straight into Troll country. But to be fair and answer your ill thought out question, I will pick Firefly.

That's a hard one. BSG is really good and I enjoy it a lot. I can't WAIT until October (if I'm still alive) to watch season 3, but Firefly is also good, and I would feel like I'm a total sellout if I didn't pick FF over BSG so I pick Firefly as the best.

The very tiny amount that I have seen of the new Battlestar suggests that I should definately see more. In a perfect universe I wouldn't have to choose. My tentative decision, based on admitadly incomplete information suggests that both the incomplete Firefly and the continuing BSG are wothy of praise. It's a 1-1 tie with no penalty kick nonsense as far as I'm concerned.

I love them both.

Sometimes I in the mood for something on the lighter side then watching all of humanity cling to life.

I love both shows. Both are sci-fi with a twist of realism. But I'm going to have to say that Firefly is my favorite of the two.

I still say the Fleet will find that the Earth is all used up and abandoned...

I love both shows, but if I had make a choice between the two, Firefly would win.

I like Both, because their both very, very good Sci Fi. Both lead the way into a new way of thinking and producing sci fi shows (also BSG is the only one AT THE MOMENT set on a spaceship )

Oh, and everyone knows about the Firefly in the Mini Series?

I dont like BSG. I've seen it before I saw Firefly and I was bored really. I know this show is very nice, but I couldnt find smth intresting of it. There isnt any character that i like. And the BSG verse is too much dark for me. So i pick Firefly indeed

JOHNBOY

I have the first season of BSG on DVD, and the first (and only, sob!)season of Firefly on DVD.

Sat down and watched all the episodes of Firefly. They are great. A whole heap'o laughs, and a bunch of drama. Great acting from everyone. Wonderful dialog.

Sat down and watched the episodes of BSG. They are great. Very thrilling. Lots of stuff going on, great acting from all but a couple of the crew (and we all know who they are..). Wonderful dialog.

But, you know, here is the thing; much as I enjoyed both when I first watched them, I can still go back to the Firefly episodes and enjoy them again. But when I put the BSG DVD back in I get halfway through an episode and I start to get....restless.

I don't really know what the difference is, but I think it has something to do with the lack of humour in BSG and the fact that the characters are so...so...unlikeable.

Apart from Baltar, of course, who has real charisma.

But all the Firefly crew have charisma.

Even Simon.

So I guess that's why I want to revisit them time and time again. And why I don't really want to revisit old BSG episodes again.

Cheers,
Johnboy

Completely agree with Johnboy.

You can watch the Firefly episodes over and over and still pick up something new. With BSG you watch it you have seen it, although I must admit I really liked season 2.

It has to be Firefly for me, waiting patiently for it's return.

Certainly, Johnboy nailed it, even as for disliking the BSG characters (even Starbuck can be obnoxious) but adoring each of the Serenity crew, even Book!

"Apart from Baltar, of course, who has real charisma.

But all the Firefly crew have charisma.

Even Simon."

I'm on a BSG list and just suggested that Sean Maher should be the next new cast member because he would make a great Cylon!

But James Callis is the star of Battlestar as far as I'm concerned. The rest of the cast are just backdrop for the Baltar-Six drama. And now the Six-Baltar drama.

But to answer the question, Firefly is by far the best sci-fi show ever done. It is rich, multi-layered and each viewing is as fun and fresh as the last.

But yeah, Firefly is more fun. I understand how grim Galactica's situation is, but would it kill them to develop a sense of humour ('cause it will kill them not to, realistically).

Plus BSG did that "one year later" thing, that I hate in whatever franchise does it (cheap copout, to give us "character development" without actually developing the characters). DC Comics, Star Trek: New Frontiers, I'm looking at you two.

Both shows are excellent, but I'm going to have to go with Firefly. I think that if both shows had been on, we would have seen a lot more character development and a more in-depth story with Firefly. But, like I said, both shows are excellent.
