I watched the BDM and Firefly this weekend, and once again I am absolutely blown away by Summer Glau. I don't know how good a dancer she was, but boy does she take on a really difficult part and just [i}make it. I still can't believe it was her first job. Talk about hard to live up to!

She guest starred in a season 3 Angel episode, where she played a Russian ballet dancer. You get to see some of her superb dancing there. Plus she has a very convincing Russian accent!

I will have to check it out. Lost track of Angel after the first season.

I never saw that episode. *cries* I'm seeing Angel on Fox cable right now but I've missed some Season 3 episodes, including that one, Waiting in the Wings. They've just started Season 5 now...

It is pretty remarkable when you remember that it was her first major acting job. I can't imagine anyone else as River. It would just be somehow...not right.

I guess that's also a nod to Joss or whoever did the casting, to be able to see all of that ability in a relative newcomer. Part of what makes the 'verse the 'verse is the dynamic of the cast as a whole and how they can allow you to get lost in the show and really believe that they're not only a crew, but a family as well.

Huzzah for them all!

Mine is an evil sugar high laugh! Bwahahahaha!

She is an amazing actress. When I first watched the BDM and was not yet a Browncoat (hard to imagine, eh?) I was just like, "This is stupid, Simon's white and she's some sort of mix of Asian and something and they don't look related and it's not believable." I did like the movie, but just not their realtionship. But when I saw the show...changed my whole perspective, their love seemed just so real. Lovely acting from both Sean Maher and Summer Glau honestly, made it seem like they were truly related. The whole show sort of just sort of connected and beautiful. Okay, I'm finally done.
