So, at a cousin's new antique shop, I happened to pick up a book on symbols (useful for writing).

As I flipped through it, I noticed an entry on the Fox:

Quote:

Fox: A common symbol for the devil during the Middle Ages, expressive of base attitudes and of the wiles of the adversary.

So yeah. Talk about a sudden but inevitable betrayal.
