Today I recieved my first piece of mail from the Browncoat Post!!!!

If you are not aware, Saraha started a pen pal letter wirtting campaign for Browncoats to get to know each other the old fashioned way...through the post mail!

I got really excited seeing my first letter, from none other then Saraha! The rusted rown ink and firefly wax seal were defintly highlights!!! Thanks for starting this Saraha, I know it will be lots of fun!

If you are interested in joining, here is the original thread where you can sign up:

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I sent my info in as well. I can't remember the last time I got an actual letter. It has to be at least 4 or 5 years.

This is such a great idea! Props to Sahara!

I'd be a lot giddier if I weren't all tuckered out from working 13 hours at an airshow yesterday (Vintage warbirds, it was awesome! More than one reminds me of Serenity!). But I'm giddy deep down inside, where it counts.
I'll get the new addtions out this week. I'm still trying to figure out how. I might send new lists to everyone, or just send lists to the newbies and to all the people I've already mailed I'll just email the updates.

I'm so excited!!!

I know it's too early, but I can't wait to get home and check my mailbox.

I sent out a Browncoat Post Dispatch via email (I know, I know, but I had to find a more efficient way to just get the addresses out, there were a lot of additions!) with an updated list. If you didn't receive it, or can't read it, let me know.

SimonWho you could always type our your letters and print them. That way you can be a part of it and not worry about the handwriting issue.

Sahara you are amazing for doing this! I'm gonna write a whole bunch of letters when I get home later tonight!

I have a question. Since it's browncoat letters from browncaots to browncoats are the letters written on brown paper? I'm just wondering?

That's exactly what I plan to do. My handwriting could qualify me to be a doctor it's so bad.

I got mine, too! It's kinda weird to get handwritten mail these days, and it put a smile on my face that's still there!
I plan on getting a bunch of postcards to start with...should be going out by the weekend!

Thank you again, Sahara, for this brilliant idea.

Don't thank me yet, let's see how this works out.

And I promise not to judge anyone's handwriting, if you promise not to judge my atrocious spelling.

Brown paper, white paper, heck, you could use pink paper with sparkly bits for all I care. It's for fun! Although now I am going to look for some brown paper!

Ooh, pink paper with sparkly bits... I'll have to go find some Hello Kitty paper to send you. Assuming my ego lets me buy the stuff, that is. *looks for big, manly emoticon* *doesn't see one, so goes with the closest one* (hey, it kinda looks like rambo. He was manly )

I got the list in the mail today, thanks. Time to start writing.

Hmm... that thought hadn't quite occured to me yet. Oh well, such is life. I'll send you something, though. Even if the postage is expensive

Actually, I think it's slightly more expensive for me to mail overseas than it is for people to send it here (from the US, at least but I think that Europe is about the same assuming that I'm reading the postage chart right).

Letter (Japan -> US) 110 Yen (~$.96 US)
Postcard (Japan -> US) 70 Yen (~$.61 US)

Letter (US -> Japan) $.85 US
Postcard (US -> Japan) ???

Yeah, I was pretty surprised myself since it usually takes about a week to send things back and forth.

Well, you see her pretty much everywhere here so I reckon you're right about that. Well, that and she seems to show up a lot everywhere else, too.

Darn tootin' it's manly. *sticks out chest in an attempt to look macho. Looks around for a beer and some power tools to solidify the image, but doesn't have any tools. Hopes the beer is enough...*

it is only 75¢ for a postcard to Japan,
same as Ireland and England...

Canada is just 55¢
(I've made a list so I don't have to keep looking it up each time I mail a card)

Thank you again Sahara for all your work!
You are really going above and beyond the call of Browncoat duty!

Yay! I got my first letter yesterday. And Sahara, you have beautiful handwriting!!!

Unfortunately, I have my final show of the season this weekend. (I'm an actress.) So, I will be super busy with the festival appearances and stuff that I need to do.

Please, my fellow Browncoats, do not think any less of me if my mail is a bit later arriving than others. I promise I shall go hunting for postcards first thing Monday morning. LOL

EXOTICK

Oops, I went to get postcard stamps and regular stamps today. I wanted to get some special stamps to use....and I ended up buying wedding invitation stamps....I didn't realize it til I got back to my office. I just said "oh those are cute, give me those purple ones".

So if you get a letter from me with a wedding stamp, it's not an invite, it's just me being oblivious as usual.

kisses
