sorry still a bit sleepy so I'm not as chatty as usual:)

So here's an imponderable: Would you ever forgive your SO for having an affair. A neighbor of my parents ,who is a terrific woman, had her husband leave her for another woman. Then about 6 months later he came back and she forgave him. As far as I can tell, their kids forgave their dad too. Is it just me or is that seriously weird?

MSG, no problem. There really are a lot of discussions going on elsewhere that I have no desire to be part of...I'd rather sit in here and wait.

I have talked about the affair thing before, but I'll try to sum it up. If my SO was in love with the other person, then no way. The relationship would be over then and there with no chance of reconciliation. If it was a random fling, there would still be now way, but I would be less likely to hate the now-former SO for the rest of my natural life. Cheating for me is a combination of emotional and physical; not saying that just physical is good, just that it would hurt me less.

Dangit, FMF is sad again!

While she gets her tale of woe together...

Cheating: I still think it's a question of breaking your word, and I still think it's a horrible thing. But my guess is, in the case you mentioned, the reconciled for the kids. The guy wwanted to come back, and the woman probably recognized that it'd be better for all involved if dad just came back. No divorce, no visitation rights, no alimony, no step-dad, etc.

Envious of the MsG and the babymaking. Envious of the PR and the Sushi.

Happy for them, but wish I was partaking of the life goodies as well!

FMF- but you have a dancing pickle and aim to find a boy toy...so that'll be nice.

I don't think they got back for the kids. The youngest "kid" was 20. It was just seriously weird. I just don't see how if your husband walked out, you'd welcome him back...hmm takes all kinds I guess.

for FMF.

Well, at least some of us are being all happy, that's good at least.

Here's a thing... I was in Heathrow literally last week, getting on a trans-atlantic flight. And yet I'm not really creepified by what's happened. I just figure 'meh, it'll be two years or more before i'm back on a plane, what does it matter'.

None of this near death junk for me.

hmmm sounds odd, but I guess I'm not on the inside so I can't be all judgemental about it. It's just their oldests son is my friend and their only daughter is my sister's friend..and well basically they are kind of like a second family and I just find it a bit confusing...

Anyway, more fun to ponder this one. If you were a superhero, what kind of costume would you wear?

I'm thinking I'd wear an all black cat suit with a mask and a really great swirling cloak.

That's a really fun inponderable, MSG!

I think I'd wear something mysterious looking. Something dark with a cape and hood. I'm a sucker for a cape. Although for superpowers I'd choose invisibility, so I guess the costume wouldn't matter much.

Speaking of invisible super heroes, I knew a guy whose dream it was to be Jessica Alba's costume assistant on the set of Fantastic Four. He read somewhere that her costume was so form-fitting she had to be smeared in vasaline gel every day just to get it on. Every time he talked about it his eyes would go all distant and his voice would just trail off.

Guys are weird.

I would never forgive a SO for cheating. They cheat once, it's over - kids or not. When a SO cheats, they violate the trust that is one of the foundations of a relationship. When you share your life with someone in such an intimate and connecting manner, it's important that you are able to feel comfortable with them and trust them.

Superhero outfit...something without a cape, I'm thinking (seen The Incredibles? ).
Probably a long brown coat, butterscotch pants, maroon shirt, some nifty suspenders...hey, wait a minute! Doesn't that superhero already exist?!?

DTH, I can understand the costumer's glazed look...vaseline and Jessica Alba...

Yeah, I've seen The Incredibles, but I'm still a sucker for a cape. Especially a massive billowy one that I could sweep around me as I dissapear mysteriously from sight. There could even be eerie mist!

I can understand Jessica Alba, but vasaline??? It's all... gooey... and icky... and not in a good way. Plus you'd likely slip and break something in the heat of the moment.

Another superhero inponderable. What would your superhero name be? I'd choose 'Nightfall' for my mysterious dissapearing invisibility power stuff.

Yes, I have thought this one over before. Behold the geekiness that is me

DTH, yes, vaseline is all slippery...sort of in a good way, if your mind leans that way. Not saying mine does! Just, you know, the thought of someone like Jessica Alba (she is not my goddess, and probably wouldn't spare me a second look, but...) covered in a slippery substance...yeah, it's a weird thing. Forgive us our momentary Neaderthal back-sliding...

Super hero name? Um...is Mal already taken?
I'm not really sure; hadn't thought too much about it.

Um hate to burst all your bubbles guys, but to get into a tight latex costume you use baby powder cut with cornstarch to prevent friction...but you could still be in charge of rubbing powder all over her:)

Um Zeek- do you have a moral objection to moving? or to long distance relationships that might end in moving? That'd be what I would suggest. Visit, talk, spend time live and over other communication devices and if it's really cooking...pack up and move. (Note please secure employment and living space prior to this)

I'm an Aries. War and destroying things seem to be my preoccupation. Tryin' to push that back a bit, but it seems to be second nature. Don't get the chance IRL to do it much anymore. Well arn't ya'll a pervy bunch? Kidding. I'm a little unreliable with the internet access now seeing as I don't really have a home. Not quite homeles but almost. Oh well unemployment is really annoying me (it's been 4 days). Not having much of anything to do all day is obnoxious when I know it's not because I simply have a day off from work. Oh well enough about that. I'll have moved and started job hunting soon enough.

Superhero costume? I have to have a utility belt and a cool mask. No cape (the incredables) because that would frighten me. Probably be a verson of the batman beyond costume.

Age difference-I think it should have more to do with a maturity difference. Although dating someone still in development as an adult 18-25 when you're settled into your life shouldn't happen. It frustrates the settled and stunts the growth of the other. My two cents

I'll miss you all while I bounce about.

Howdy Imponderables,

Got caught up yesterday in RWE. Phew...never really been over there before.

And now my putt putt is broken and they want $500 to fix it. That's not really THAT much, but it's only a new battery and a fuel line flush. It was $100 alone just to 'diagnose' the battery. I need to date a mechanic.

Superhero costume: Hrmmm, I'm with FMF, if I was in superhero shape, I'd go with very little. Maybe Lara Croft-ish or Leeloo from The Fifth Element.

Well I'd move, but I have my job here. I really like the team I work on and enjoy what we do a lot of the time. Long distance is just no way to start a relationship in my opinion. It's just too fake. So, that leaves me with moving on or quitting and moving somewhere for someone I've never gone on a single date with. I don't like any of these options.

Zeek- Um again start with a visit. Go on a date , or two, or three, and see if what you think is true...then you can make a better decision:)It may be the person isn't as great as you think...or maybe they are and you want to consider moving or something... but you can't know unless you visit and actually go on a date with them. If you give up you will always wonder what if and I agree that just jumping up and moving for the possibility of a relationship is insane...so arrange a little vacation and spend some time...then you'll know for sure one way or the other:)

Zeek, greetings. I have had the distance problem in the past, and it is indeed a problem. Some of them worked out for awhile, most did not. I am not trying to put a damper on your hopes; just I have not had much luck with that type of relationship. If possible, getting close to that person is of paramount importance...either they to you or you to them. Then, there is a better chance.

MSG, I know about the talc thing and latex...I just liked the sound of a slippery liquid being required...it's been a weird day and I am in an "off" mood...took that thought and ran with it!

Fire good.

Hey, Copilot! Been missing you here!
A utility belt and a mask...that would be a great costume ...and a good power to go along with that would be the power of absolute surprise!

Hey, RugBug! I've been following the RWE discussion...why do people have to start things like that? Two things to never discuss: politics and religion. Neither one can end well.

Between Copilot wearing nothing but a mask and a utility belt, and RugBug in a LeeLoo outfit...I'll be in my bunk...

It must be a very long distance. But love knows no bounds. It seems sensible to consider your current life. Are you faced with a lack of options? Where do you work?

MSG- The flipside to being an Aries is the the burning, though intense, is usually sustained by passion and anger. An Aries has tons of energy but only as it relates to battle or challenge. Not to mention the emotional distance caused by the clashing of mind, body and spirit. Sounds kinda manic depressive, don't it?

h'mmm, superhero costume would DEFINATELY have to involve a trenchcoat, either fine cotton or good quality wool ^^

maybe leather biker jacket and trousers under it ^^

powers would definately be sort of shadow-influenced, being able to be hugely stealthy and hidden and all manner of things, or travelling at high speed between shadows, that could all be fun ^^ (vague i know) either that or just having a sword...or both xD

as for jessica alba, being lathered with an unknown lubricant substance in order to get into her costume...well...i'll be in my bunk *coughs*

NVG, I still love you, man!
I don't want to load this thread down with costume stuff, but briefly:
She has armor, Kaylee, one of the Harry Potter schoolgirl outfits (and not the prim and proper kind), and some kind of demon-thing that our friends will be doing there. I have Mal, Dread Pirate Roberts, and a Rohan-esque armor outfit. I will probably be spending most of my time as Mal, though.

Kind of an Imponderable to tie this in...anyone in here enjoy dressing up in costumes on ocassion? I don't necessarily mean for role-playing purposes or fantasy, I just mean in general...ever take an evening and just throw things on and have fun for the camera? Or is it just weird people like me that sew all the time and have a closet full of Renaissance and other out-of-fashion clothing?

Even a trip just to date a girl seems odd to me. I mean I just got back from a vacation where she was one of the ones there. Even I have to admit the fact that I'm on vacation and having fun has to have helped my impression of her. So, really I'd just be hoping that some day we end up living near enough to each other for something to happen. That could take years and years.

P.S. I've never liked the long distance thing much either.

I have the body for many intersting/menacing costumes. I'd love to take action pics in variations of armor and weapons. Tired of all the practical modern stuff I use (or used).
Still like sportin' the suit jacket and all the variant outfits. Really would like to take a girl somewhere all gussied up and the like.
Feel like I play so many roles throughout the day that dressing up seems a bit redundant.
But how I love shinying up from time, surprizin' the livin poop outta folks.

ADD: Forgot about Zeek. Sorry bud. Got side tracked (Ms. Incredible? called asking a work related question. More on this later)
I tend to shy away from pondering on the whole distance thing. Had nothing but bad experience with it in the past. The one good thing that comes from meeting someone long distance first, you end up knowing the real person inside first. I hate the thought of dating anymore. Two people tryin' to look good in front of each other for whatever amount of time. And if they really like eachother, they will most likely do anything to look better every time. Buncha BS I can't stand.
