Hi everyone,

Only recently stumbled across Firefly/Serenity, as I don't have Sky. It's sad that one of the few decent sci-fi shows gets cancelled by muppets in suits.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello from the UK, and wondered how many fans from the UK are on hear?

Take care all

I'm not from UK but will say hi. And welcome.
But I know we have some from your side of the pond. Almost encompass the Earth. Have a wonderful woman named PhoenixRose from Australia.
So you know our verse is large. Don't be shy. Start a thread on any topic you would to share. We love to talk Firefly and have fun. Some our threads are just for fun. Ypu hang out here and you will meet some wonderful people.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Welcome Vortex!
Magdalena is from Australia, I am from the USA But I know how you got us confused as we tend to post at the same time and say very similar things And we have the same avatar.
EmmaRigby is in the UK, and so is citizen. There are several others, but I talk to those two the most so I remember their names. EmmaRigby is in Madagascar right now, and citizen posts mainly in Real World Events, but at times he graces us on other forums with his wit.

Thank you Traveler

Currently watching the series from start to finish again after watching Done The Impossible (didn't PhoenixRose make an appearance in that?), so figured it was time to sign up

I knew the 'verse was popular, but not how much until watching the fan documentary!

'nother Southern Brit here, lol. Currently posting from Sunny Sussex.

Agree about the muppets in suits as well. I think we're maybe luckier in the UK, that the studio exec's aren't that bad over here yet.
Isn't the only time the US studios have cancelled a decent series though, and probably won't be the last. But to have cancelled Firefly, which looked to have a promising future was a crazy decision.
Let's remember, the studios hated Star Trek when it first aired..........and look at how that's doing now. Maybe the studios need to start asking fans what they want, rather than what the studio wants.

I hadn't been that gutted since Streethawk was cancelled (be gentle, I was all of 7 when I was a fan, lol).

UNSEEN

Guess I should add myself to this one. Wish I knew about that screening sooner, only an hour or so drive away. I became aware of Firefly as an overall Joss fan but was put off importing the DVD's due to the `western-themed` thing.

Then I gradually heard more and more about the fan struggle (which I'm disappointed to say now I didn't get as involved in as I should have with it being overseas), bought the DVD set on UK launch day once I saw it on the shelves and the rest is the familiar tale of addiction that anyone who sees it goes through instantly. ;)
Whether I'm `hardcore` enough to call myself a Browncoat I'm still not sure or confident enough on. To my credentials on that... imported the US dvd of Serenity *and* bought the UK version *and* the HD-DVD (even though I do not and will not own HD-compatible junk for many years yet at a guess), read the entire script for Dead or Alive, I have three international posters, an actual Serenity prop (Maidenhead Bar metal tankard from the prop store of London site), just about every shred of printed material on Firefly/Serenity I can find and all of the figures. Mostly for the fairly terrible representations of most of them. ;)
Anyway, this place is indeed great for meeting interesting people and talking 'Verse.

Hmmm....yeah lets hope Universal weren't paying too much attention to the number of people that attended yesterday's screening. I guess there the cinema was maybe 10% full? If that...

I had a great time though, Serenity is awesome on the big screen, especially the sound! And you pick up details that you might miss on the TV (or I did anyway). Two of mine were:
1. What is Kaylee doing when Wash tells her to heat up Serenity? Looks like she is smelling a bit of cloth (please don't let them be Simon's pants...)
2. Wash backing away from Kaylee in Maidenhead after she says 'Tell that to Inara' and storms off! I laughed out loud!

So, Anonymous 1, who were you?
The guy in the Blue Sun shirt?
The guy who laughed really hard at every joke? Those are my two most likely candidates for some reason!

Hey Vortex and welcome.

Me from just outside of Leicester.

I know some fans (most of whom I converted) of the show but no one else around here who posts on any FF sites.

I don't know of any UK FF sites either but we do have one for Summer (yay!!).
Like someone else said it would be difficult to find anything new to post on a UK site that isn't covered elsewhere. The folks round here would post whatever news they got irrespective of what part of the 'verse it related to.

Enjoy the site and all Firefly has to offer.
