I have not come across any mention of Kaylee's home planet. I tried "Out of Gas" because there is a scene where Mal hires Kaylee, But all Mal says is, they are on a rock. A lot help that was. This site has a list, with short descripts, of all the moons and planets mentioned in both the series and movie but none of them mention Kaylee. The only resource would probably be Joss Whedon. Even if it was never mentioned in the show, Joss may have planned some episode in the future that would bring this to light. There are a lot of holes Joss did not get to fill before the show went off the air.

I'm sorry this does not help. Your question prompted my own interest and I explored the above resoures myself with no luck. Someone else may have better knowledge of this. As I watch the series in the future will try to see if it is mentioned.

Now I'm really curious about it too. No mention in the official vis. companion or the RPG (the back of the RPG book does list most of the habitable planets/moons in the 'verse and more than a couple look possible).

I believe it's Jinan,I read one of the fanfictions(on this website) & it was set on her planet I can'r remember what it's called or if the fan who wrote made it up or not but hey if nobody's offically said her home planet you may as well have Jinan has her home planet.

A lot of fans just choose a planet name for their fic. I've never seen that one used. Harvest seems to be popular.

Yup, there's no official planet so you get to choose. Harvest sounds nice, actually. Plus it's nicely ironic for a rock of a planet with high unemployment (if the info in Out of Gas is anything to go by.) And you could call any fic about the planet itself 'Harvest Home'
