camomile tea, with half a spoon of honey ^^

and maybe a tiny, tiny squeeze of lemon juice.

it's my cure-all for all ache's and pains, and insomnia, pretty much everything can be solved with camomile tea, with half a spoon of honey. and a squeeze of lemon juice if you feel like it ^_~

okay, imponderable i found was 'how d'you stop thinking about uncomfortably right underwear' there's always the stand in, austin powers style 'maggie thatcher naked in the rain' it works, although side-effects include vomiting, nausea headaches and the desire to gouge out your minds eye. imagining the torture sequence from audtion also works, but side effects include shuddering, twitching, and screaming anytime anyone goes 'kilikilikilikilikili' for the next three hours. i tend to go for picturing myself utterly, leglessly, only-gotten-that-way-once-or-twice-i-SWEAR drunk. in no time at all you suddenly startt to loose all interest in fantasy, because the idea of a woman wanting to go anywhere NEAR you after she'd seen that seems so far-fetched as to be ridiculous

Avoid meds? Me? Considering the five prescription bottles lined up in front of my computer monitor...

This headache is coming up on the 48 hour mark. I've been taking Advil every couple of hours, and that helps. Running out of coffee this morning didn't help, but I just got back from the store with more coffee, and so I'm feeling a bit better now.

In the range of medical problems I tote around with me, this is a pretty small thing. I'm used to chronic pain, but headaches make it so difficult to think.

Bah, CK, stop hurting! and... welcome back. (late, I know)

On the subject of the hero complex.... i think that both men and women have it, just that men have dominated fiction for so long that there are no cliches to match the 'damsel in distress' thing. It's just a thing where you want to know that someone else is happy that you're there. To feel needed. To feel loved. That's all you need. (starts humming Beatles song)

Ok, and money, money helps.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Ooog, I almost overslept today. One more night, then some time off, hooray!
And one of the bosses (or ex bosses, not sure where he stands right now) is here and making me all nervous. I hope he doesn't wonder why I'm typing so much.
From the last thread:
I recieved flowers from my dad when I had my wisdom teeth out in March. I brought Ex of Doom flowers when he was in the hospital. I have never recieved flowers from a SO. Though Ex of Doom did give me really pretty bamboo for Valentines 2005. See, and it doesn't die. I still have it.
Saw the big flashy "stop hotlinking my images" thing. Someone isn't happy...
I can punch well, though maybe not like a man. I can kick very well, though; better than most men. Not sure how long I could hold my own against a large male, though. Fortunately for me I haven't had occasion to find out, because I'm smart enough to just practice fon du la as much as possible. However, my hands are smooth as baby skin and I happen to like them that way! I am obsessed with soft skin, both on myself and... others
Mmmmm, there is honey lemon chamomile tea I have that I just adore. I only use it for insomnia, though, not aches and pains. I just rub at my aches and pains until they leave me alone! However, I don't have that chronic thing going on... for CK.
I have a total Hero (Heroine?) Complex; I want to help everyone. No end of trouble has come of it, though
Odds, if it makes you feel better, I think I understood what you were saying. Just think about how hideous you can be and wallow in the thought that no one would actually want to touch you and the fantasy goes *poof*! Not sure that's healthy, but it might work...

Bamboo.... that's clever. I think someone made me a bamboo flashlight once... ok, it was more like a bulb and a battery in a piece of bamboo, but still cool.

Hmm.... on the wanting to help everyone front...... in the grand scheme, i'm into helping the whole gorram verse, but on the local level... I was about to say that i'm only interested in helping people who'd appreciate it (preferably in the less subtle ways, ie actually thanking me or somesuch), but that aint so, i'm interested in helping everyone who.... well i dunno how to say it... the people that i want to help, cause they make me happy, even if they dont take any action to show reciprocation..... eh, i dunno, maybe i'm just selfish.

Rose... samsara? Isn't it..... a bad thing? I was reading Siddhartha and it implied that Samsara was the obsession of the soul with physical pleasures rather than the seeking of enlightenment. Huh. Maybe a dead white german guy who spent a few years in india doesnt know what he's talking about! Nah, it's an AP book, that can't be it.

P.S. Flowers? i think someone gave me one the last show i was in. Not the usual way, but just she was giving a flower to everyone in the cast. twas so nice. i admit it, one of my tragic flaws is that i get jealous of people who know people who get them flowers for a preformance. Dang flowers.

My dad always told me that samsara was "The art of not being there." Basically, him telling me to practice samsara was like most people's parents just telling them to stay out of bad situations. Just saying "Samsara" sounds cooler somehow than "Stay out of trouble."
*edit* But I googled it and you're right that doesn't seem to be what it means. Huh.

Is it bad that I understood Odds? Have to say that I am very glad that women don't suffer from that particular affliction. We can just fantasize away, right under everyone's noses. That must be the bonus for having to deal with other annoyances.

Hotlinking images: I usually save the image into my photobucket, so I'm not stealing bandwith. And bonus of being able to drool over the captain any old time.

Hrrmmm, today my world will be sponsored by the word "bonus." I'm going to see how many times I can use the concept while posting....

Hi All!

Phoenix Rose (the Gorgeous one!) isn't DesktopHippie just the best!! I think my new banner is the shiniest birthday present I received last week... no kidding!!! Yours is awesome too! Joss should so consider working it into the title for real

Oddsbodds - my mind too went there so I did kind of understand... I remember a boyfriend refusing to get out of the pool after we'd ... er... been for a swim one hot evening. There were others present so... If Margaret Thatcher is too harsh think of Aussie Johnnie Howard... almost as boring as John Major when it comes to looks... and there should be no twitch, but you might shudder (which come to think of it might also be misinterpreted...) Sorry - not much help...

And flowers - my last serious relationship ended two weeks after he gave me a dozen red roses and said they were just the first of many... bastard! He gave me yellow roses at Christmas too, but someone pointed out that yellow roses represent friendship... red is for passion! (& there was a third party involved in the breakup - and guess who was left all alone...

Nah - not feeling sorry for myself, way too busy for that!!

Mwaaah - Magdalena x x x

EDIT: Yay!! We just double posted Gorgeous One!! I love that!!

Rugbug - what a bonus seeing you here!

RugBug, good to know you have the ability to stay on a wild horse...sticky behind?

PR, my pleasure! Pretty (virtual) flowers for a pretty Rose.

I have always been a flower-giver...one of my jobs during/after college was at a flower shop owned by friends of the family (my second "Mom"), so I always had a job there if I needed it. It also gave me a source for wonderful and odd flowers, which I used to my advantage. They always seemed to brighten the day.

Never ridden an Icelandic, though they are so cute and cuddly looking, but the bonus with them is there is less distance to fall.

So, Mark and Brian (radio personalities whom I LURVE) had a 'top ten gallant actions' list this morning. Flowers was #3 I think, but 'twas mentioned that most women these days think flowers are ordinary, especially roses.

I disagree...just about any flower is good in my book. Except for carnations. Those are the flowers of the devil. 'Specially when they dye them blue for some holiday or such. No flower should be able to live for weeks with little to no water. That's just unnatural.

Bonus Mark & Brian list:

1. Sticking up for her when someone is being rude/mean
2. Paying for dinner (M&B thought this wasn't gallant but rather was (and should be) expected)
3. Flowers
And thus endeth my commute (all of five minutes)and my hearing of the list....

What a range of discussion.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I've had several men say that if they ever got me flowers they wouldn't get me roses because it would be "too cliche" since it's "traditional" plus it's my name. For some reason people don't understand that I love my name and gravitate towards anything that pictures the flowers.
I have never gotten roses
...Actual roses.

Thank you, Magdalena! Yes, I did actually enjoy delivering the flowers...and the smiles on the faces!

Morning, NVG! I'm on for longer today...not riding the front desk!

Never having gotten real roses is a tragedy! That's just...wrong! I can't believe that.

Howdy Tristan. Good to see ya don't have to ride the front desk pony today.

Giving roses...
I tend to only give roses on special occasions. Usually just a nice assotment of mixed flowers. My bestest friend occasionally gets a dozen pale carnations with purple tips from me for her birthday, (longstanding tradition).
My favorite thing to do (when I wasn't single), was to drive to the Stillwater Mountains and pick wildflowers for the ex. Had to drive eighty miles in the opposite direction just to give them to her.
I have never gotten flowers. I know, big brown guy wanting flowers? Mostly its the gesture. There ain't alot in this world that I need or want. If I need it, I've pretty much got it. If I want it, I'll work for it. But simple thoughtful or loving gestures are well spent on me. I like to show my appreciation.

isn't jailbait meant to be cute? thought that was the point =O

yeah the icelandics are cool, nice thing is, if they ever DO try to do anything daft, just reach down me legs and let themn run out from under me ^^

h'mm, sticking up for her, i'd say not so much gallant as should be expected if you feel she's getting a hard time.
paying for dinner is a tough one, you know, equality and all, not the easiest decision *rolls eyes*

what other imponderables are we pondering?

Well, I'm all for equality, but free food is nice too :) And I have to admit that I have a weakness for white roses. Never been much for any of the other colours, but white roses can be so very pretty.

Other than that, I like wildflowes. Even the common as much ones like daisies and dandelions. I have a few wild flower fields near me, so I can normally pick a few and make simple posies and arrangements. Not that I'm very good at it. It's mostly just plonking them into a small bud vase or something.

Jailbait can be cute, but doesn't have to be. It means that the person is under the age of consenting (18 in U.S.) and therefore any sexual relations can land you in jail.

So, you're not really jailbait. But you're still too young for me.

WHOOOT! I have finally gotten on this gorram website, first time in a week, a WEEK I tell you. First the computer died, just died, then the internet just wouldn't let me on. *sob* ah, well, I'm on now, happy again!

How's your head, CK?

Flowers: never gotten them, and don't actually really like them, that much as I have hayfever, and they're not really me, if that makes sense...
Its not very romantic, but I would rather receive a book!

Devil Horses: Not had a bad exsperience with a horse - yet. last time I was on one, I was 9, on holiday in Canada and we went on this big horse trek with loads of other people. I was the youngest, smallest one, and didn't they give me the biggest horse in the whole stables! He was he-uge! But he was really sweet though. His name was Carlos, and he kept stopping to eat all trees, and its a good job they had me on a lead rein, because I couldn't get him moving again

Sorry about the hayfever. But flowers a certainly a nice gesture.

DTH- You hippies and your wildflowers. Wait, I was the one that brought them up. And I like them too. Does that make me a bit Hippie-ish? I am lucky enough to live in an area where there are constantly some sort of flowers blooming (with the exceotion of winter). Mid spring is the greatest in the Stillwaters. Purples and blues and reds and yellows and orange. Fields and meadows of fire and waves.
I like flowers.

Welcome back, Oh She who is the Smartest of Dumb Blondes

(That's one of those posting names that always makes me smile!)

NVG: Sounds like you have a hidden Hippie side trying to break free. Let go, man. Feel the peace and love, dude! We're all, like, part of the universe... and it's all so... whoah!

The flower-loving sounds nicely hippieish to me. Maybe you're having hippiness-by-proxy?

I've never really thought about a girl getting me flowers. I'm thinking I'd probably just be embarrassed. Having flowers on my desk would threaten my manhood. I'm secure enough in my insecurity to say that.

Plus what would I do with them? Probably just let my cat eat them. I'd much rather my SO just surprise me by taking me out for lunch someday. Something like that. Since spending time with her would be what I'm after anyway. Not dying plantlife.

The gesture, not the object.

But a nice surprize picnic lunch would be a good subtitute.

Hey, SBDB, welcome back! Hope things get better for you regarding the whole computer/internet thing...you've missed a lot!

NVG, yes, it was nice to just chill today...calm, quiet day!

Hippie-by-proxy...hmm. I used to dress and act the part waay back in high school...I'll need to find the pics (unless I destroyed them all to hide my past)...John Lennon glasses, army jacket, peace symbol, attitude...whoa.

Ross Noble? Forgive my ignorance...the name rings a bell, but the clapper isn't hitting the sides...
