I feel sorry for whatever woman falls for me. Cause that would never work on me at all. I'd be begging other people to take them off my hands. Sweets don't do a darn thing for me. Rugbug- not offended, just like carnations in my classroom. I think it's good for the kids to have flowers in the room. Also think it's good for them to have live plants and such:)

Zeek- ok fine then for you I'd make something like nice homemade bread with herb crust or lovely cheese breadsticks:)Always pick what that person enjoys and make a nice basket. Ah, carnations! Pretty flowers, and they are quite sturdy. I was lucky enough, while working at the flower shop, to be able to see some of the first really deep purple carnations that had been engineered, not dipped, to make them purple. Very beautiful color!

Oh Rugbug, no problem. Carnations aren't my favorite either. Tulips are nice, but they can get expensive. I always liked the deep color and thick petals. I have always loved lilys. Numerous color and shape combiations.

And yes MSG, food is good. Just got to be careful with the sweets,(diabetic). But what a way to go!

I know I've not been about much..sigh. It's that my school hasn't gotten my computer hooked up to the network, nor do I have a password or access, so I keep having to wait until I get home to get online...This little problem should be fixed by Wed of next week( fingers crossed)

moment of Southern joy...I just had a tomato( ripe home grown tomato) sandwich on crusky french bread with mayo..mmmmmmmmm I can almost taste summer in that sandwich. Plus, about a million childhood memories. I miss home sometimes:)

MSG, I always associate you with food...that's a good thing, but every time I see a post by you, my stomach starts grumbling!

Would I relocate for an SO? That would really depend. Right now, no, I would not. I am in the beginning stages of building a career (late bloomer, I know) and moving would damage that base. After a few years, sure. Two years ago? Yes, I would have packed up and gone in a heart beat. I was almost prepared to pack up and go to France with the ex, but I'm glad that never happened. Never really been in the situation where that was an issue, though. Good imponderable!

Yes- as I have mentioned we all know I'm a food slut:) On the new religion thread EngineAngel mentioned she is jewish and all I could think was mmmm noodle kugel. This also explains why I spend so much time at the gym in an attempt to balance out the fact that I love to eat:)

I would probably relocate for my SO, but I'd be really sad. I'm very close to my family ( with the exception of my husband, my siblings and their spouses are my best friends)and I wither a bit if I'm away from my daddy for long periods...and I'd miss my mom too:)

I too have never had to consider moving for an SO, but I have considered moving. And I always come back to being a California girl at heart. I'm not sure I could live anywhere else. Plus, there is the fear of moving out of CA and never being able to move back b/c of cost of living. I think I would be more willing to move if I owned my own house and could rent it out 'til I decided the move 'took.'

But it is so tempting, especially when looking at housing prices, say in Austin, TX. I could BUY a house twice the size of what I am living in right now and pay less mortgage than I do rent. That's sad.

But again, I never lived further than 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean. I don't even like the ocean all the much (or rather, the beach...I HATE sand) but I like knowing it's there if I need it. And bonus: you can go kayaking and hang out with the sea otters.

So, I guess the answer to moving for an SO is, maybe. Would have to be "the one" and he'd have to have an awfully good reason for not wanting to move here.

Moving for an SO? It depends on what stage of the relationship. It seems to me that if one were to move for a girl/boyfriend, then said SO would feel obligated to stay with you, or otherwise would feel absolutely awful if they broke up. But moving for someone where the feelings were mutual n maybe thinking about marriage, well then that'd be a different story, and absolutely... in the hypothetical. If i had to move away right at this minute from my life, I couldnt, cause, well the SO would, as aforementioned, feel pressured, and I would lose all my theater friends (not to mention my commitment to the current show).

Where in California are you Rugbug? Cause 10 miles aint far, I live... well i dunno the mile count, but two hours by car from teh ocean. It aint a trip I make often, and i dont especially care for the beach. It's either too hot and sun-burn-y or too cold.

Rugbug- you think Texas has good prices? Check out Kirksville Missouri ( my sister and brother in law just moved there for their medical school) They bought a 2 bed 2 bath 1400 square foot house on 1/4 an acre for $47,500 ...yes $47,500 ...I almost swallowed my tounge. Of course who, in their right mind, would want to live in kirksville? However, housing prices in California are profoundly distrubing. I can't believe y'all fork out more than my mortgage for rent on some tiny little place, but hey the ocean is a lovely thing...'course you move to Georgia/ North or South Carolina and you'd get the ocean at a greatly reduced price:)
Must go tutor and then make dinner...not sure what we're having. Maybe stuffed pork chops (stuffed with mushrooms and wild rice) and blanched broccoli with hollandaise, hmmm and nice crusty french loaf:)

Heart of the Central Coast. I can EASILY bike to the beach and if real determined I could run. It's just about the same assessment of where I grew up. Run might be pushing it there, but definitly bike.

Yep Austin it is. At least for the time being.

I grew up in San Diego as a kid too. So, I know both sides of it. Granted the family fun center and the 20 something life are quite different. So, I guess it's unfair to compare the two. Still I think I'd take CA if I had to choose. Austin is not bad by any means though. You know...other than all the Texans running around.

I still can't understand how people can be so gullible as to buy anything with a slogan that has the word "Texas" in it. These people do realize Nissan is a Japanese company, right? Bah! At least Austin is one of the most enlightened cities in Texas from what I hear.

Rugbug- I was accomidating to a Mexican and look where it got me (two kids, house searched, more bills). Okay that was a bit out of line. I should say illegal immigrant. Anyone wish to debate that one. I have proof that they are not all here to work and make money for their families. But as for the Californians, I'm glad. The locals seemed to need some new breedin' stock. Alot of them were gettin' dumber and many of them looked alike.

Zeek- From what I hear Austin is the town to visit when searching for art and culture in Texas. Still well rooted, but has attracted folks from all over. Hope to visit there someday.

ADD: Missed that one Zeek. Same reason why I won't visit Mexico. Just too many Mexicans.

Property values on Prince Edward Island are crashing, in response to every-damn-other lick of economy on this spit of land swirling the bottom of the bowl. This house was bought for 20,000 dollars (back in the mid eighties, but still). It's price went up to about 100,000 for a while, due to numerous enhancements, and the whole "Oh, look at us, we built a really big bridge" phase, but now its back down to half that. Although, on this Island, it is physically impossible to be more than 14 kilometers from the ocean. Just something to ponder if you're feeling... insane... enough to try living here.

Would I relocate for a SO... I'll have to get back to you when I get one. Don't know what I'd do. I might. I might not. Just don't know.

Flowers give me hayfever, and I wouldn't give the wonderful gift of sinus conjestion, itchy, runny eyes, and allergy headache to anybody I particularly cared about. Even if they didn't, I find it odd that society uses a short lived device, which is inevitably going to wilt and die, to propagate romance. It just strains the mind a bit.

Food, though, that never grows old. Need food to live. Better food is a good thing.

Religion. Don't talk to me about religion. Seriously, don't.

Relocating for a SO... No, not if it was just for them. If I was madly in love with someone and they said something like "We should move to Mississippi, I just got a job there!" I'd be totally, like, no. But if they said "We should move to Oregon/Hawaii/Europe and I have a job there!" I might go for it. It would have to be a place I liked. However, I would probably stay somewhere for a SO; i.e. I wouldn't leave for a job if they wanted to stay. Does that make any sense?
Wow, I expected to miss more. Guess everyone's over in the religion/belief thread. And no, I have no idea what's up with kaneman, but it can stop any time.

I relocated once before for an SO. And boy, do I wish I hadn't. But then folks who have read an earlier post know about the loon patrol I had to deal with. I may have to relocate overseas with husband at some point, but I'm hoping he'll get a US posting if we do!

Flowers - I had roses at my wedding. Deep ivory cream and a beautiful deep wine-red called 'Grand Prix' (husband is a petrol-head, so I had to.)

I'm staying out of the religion threads, 'cos they worry me, and I'll only end up upsetting folks.

So...where the hell is my Firefly Companion? It's published in the UK, it's available, and it's going to take 4-6 WEEKS to get to me? What's up with that?

Morning all:) It's Mr.G's birthday today so I may not be on much as we have a full day planned. His brother is even coming to stay this weekend ( from Idaho, yes I know FMF it doesn't exist, so I'm not sure exactly where he will be coming from, but it'll take him about 6-7 hours to get here:)I think I caught CK's headache, but hopefully mine will go away more quickly than her's did.

I enjoyed reading Kaneman's attempt to insult Odds in one of the Putting Faces with Names threads. That was funny. Odds did an admirable job of remaining mellow.

Must go find the Kaneman trail from last night.

CK, it's kind of creepy that he's nice to you because he thinks you're pretty. Anyone know how long he's been on the site? I wonder if Kaneman is another River6213 alter. She mentioned saving people's pictures from the PFWN threads. That's kind of creepy, too.

And for the religion threads: all the one's I've been a part of have remained very civil. Good discussions and very little name calling. A few insensitive comments, but nothing to horrible. They've by far been the most civil I've seen with such a wide range of beliefs represented.

I used to love that comic. Not sure how good of a movie it will be though. Especially with Nick Cage playing John Blaze. (GR's alter ego)

Food- Not so much of a big thing anymore. I used to love eating cake and pie and such. last friday on me B-day I did not even have a piece of my cake. Not sure why, just didn't want. Weird, never happened before.

Move for an SO. Well I kinda did. When I got out of the Army I came home to visit and was going to move down to Florida with friends. I was friends with my now wife in HS but we never dated or anything. Well I started hanging out with old friends and she was there. Next thing I knew I was staying. Damn her for locking me in this frozen wasteland of a state!

Think the lack of notification is FFF.net related. I didn't get notification that my fan graphics were commented on. I assumed they were dying a sad and lonely death.

Mmmm... coffeee... my preciousssss... in typically Celtic fashion I tend to drink milky tea, but I love mocha more than I can ever say. It's hot chocolate... with caffiene!!! It's the most wonderful thing in the world
