Is there something wrong with having only one thread for a subject, particulary when the first thread is short and started on the same day? Not to mention in the right forum! Is it so horrible of me to get just a little bit tired of seeing the same gorramn subject pop up time after time after time? If it's not this, it's something else, and if it's not something else it's another thing! If people haven't noticed, the archives for this particular forum don't even work anymore, probably because they're so jammed with people posting repeat threads and/or threads in the wrong place! And people keep doing it, which pushes threads off, likely never to be seen again unless someone googles them or stumbles across them somehow.
So excuse me so very much for paying attention and actually wanting this site to run smooth because I happen to spend a lot of time here. I didn't realize that made me such a bitch.

I won\'t be missing it one little bit. It was pretty good in it\'s early days, now I see it as merely \'Star Trek spin off\' in different clothes, dull and uninvolving. As for Atlantis, pah, no thankyou.

I've watched Stargate since it began but I'm a mild fan of the show,I just watch it cause it's occasionally interesting plus cause I don't have digital TV there aren't many sc-fi series I can watch,it had it's up's(series 3,4,5,6,9,10) & it's down's(series 1,2,7,8).But it isn't that bad that it's finishing cause it got 10 series & a spinoff series,it didn't end like other series("cough"Firefly"cough"),it wasn't cancelled cause of poor ratings or reviews it finished cause ...well everthing has to finish someday. It had a good run, occasionally some great episodes, great actors/actresses,& a huge following. So let's go through the gate one more time & say good bye............ scrap that,Stargate Altantis is having a 4th season.

Hey,sexy Desktophippie pass the whiskey...please.

I take it Morena hasn't made the scene yet ? Last I saw, Valla's Ori daughter was a pre-teen , and growing up fast. I missed the last 2 eps, so I'm a bit behind the curve.

Dammit.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I will miss the show, but it has had a good run. Guess it ending will make seeing Morena on the show a bit bittersweet, course us browncoats are used to that.

Pass that whiskey DesktopHippie and I'll tell you about the first time I ever went through the Stargate.

Not a big SG fan. But I am sorry that it is being canceled.

Why do those stupid shows about everybody loving some dufus or the King Dufus of some such stay on tv and good shows get canceled?

And yes, I know there is another thread on this topic.

So what.

100% agree with you, lol. Duplicate threads are annoying - especially in the wrong area. (Damn, slipping into my old Mod. ways there).
And agree the lack of archive is difficult at the moment. Seems to work occasionally, but not very often.

Know I mentioned the same about threads on how to promote FF recently - but fortunately thanks to 11th Hour and Haken, we now have a dedicated area for those discussions

CAPTURE

Star Gate was just one of those dependable sci-fi shows. Yea, most of their story lines were "borrowed", but the thing about Star Gate is that you knew you would always get a Science Fiction story with a little humor. They didn't take themselves too seriously and they just did their job. not to mention they also became a haven for sci-fi actors who lost their shows! I'll miss it, but hey we still have Atlantis, and they pretty much follow the same format!

*peeks head out from under covers*

I'm going to get flamed for this. Horribly. But...it just has to be said.

I hated Stargate. Truly. With a passion, even. The main reason behind this is the fact that I watched a lot of my favorite shows (Farscape, Invisible Man, The Chronicle, hell, even Lexx) get cancelled while this one stayed on. For Joss-sake, the original film wasn't even that good.

*hides back under covers*

I'm sorry, I just...had to say something.

EDIT: On a more positive note, Ben Browder and Claudia Black were on that show. And let's not forget Morena. So it wasn't a complete loss.

Not surprised. They lost me when they made the show 'Fargate'.

What would be nice is that they canceled it to make room for a new Firefly series. . .

No worries Deepgirl. You can dislike stargate all you want.

I njoyed season 1-3, and that was it. After that, the show started sinking, and though it kinda recovered in season 8 (its stand alones were fun, but its "overarcing" episodes were CRAP), it never really got better.

But, anyway... pass the whisky, Desktophippie! I feel like doing a dance, but not this dance...

or this one

what? if we're going to get crazy with whisky, we need weird graphics, preferablely animated.

I can't say I hated it...I never could find it interesting,
I watched when Jewel Staite was on (er, I guess that was SGAtlantas? Is that still on the air? because IMO it was way worse than SG1), and I was looking forward to seeing Morena....
but the show is definitely no loss and I think they need to make more episodes of EUReKA, and definitely a mini-series of Firefly/Serenity!

I never did like the show, but even for those who did, it's hard to feel too bad about a show getting cancelled after 10 years. Has there been any other Sci-Fi show, aside from Dr. Who, that has run as long?

That, and I stopped watching SciFi when they cancelled Farscape, so it effects me little, either way.

What do you expect from the brain trust that runs the scifi channel? These folks have been f'ing up from the get go. They spend God knows how much money on one lousy original movie after another, stuff that would be a stretch to call a "B" horror flick. Yet they come up with something original (can't remeber the name of their first program about the crew of kids on an ark), something with a following (Farscape), and they s*&t can it. They take on a cancelled show from another network (Stargate SG-1 Showtime) beat it to death and then dilute it (Stargate Atlantis) when that doesn't work lets try and salvage it with actors from shows we know people watch...Farscape...firefly. To those of you who watched Stargate my condolences, welcome to the ranks of those who mourn science fiction's gems; farscape, firefly, etc.

I don't see why they wouldn't air Morena's episodes. Using their own language, "SCI FI Channel confirmed that it will not renew its record-breaking original series Stargate SG-1 for another season", which means that, yes, the show is in its last season, but the season hasn't finishing filming. In fact, they are still in the first half, I think, so they should have plenty of time to bring all their arcs to a logical conclusion and give the show an end that is as satisfying as possible at this point.

Erm SG1 is the longest running American Sci-fi show. Ever. Everythings got to end sometime, personally IMHO this is getting to the be the right time, shows tend to start getting silly and running out of ideas if they go on too long. SG1 isn't there yet but it's starting to show signs that is rolling down that path.

It's better to let it burn out than turn into Sliders.

They want it to go out in dignity.

However, I might just kill that real quick, with some fun for those who love both SW (IV-VI, duh? The Classic trilogy) and SG-1.

To be honest, SG1 wasn't exactly a favorite of mine, either.

I don't know how much of that is anger toward SciFi for continually sinking scads of money into producing crappy movies that should have come with three heads in the bottom right corner (Long Live MST3K!!) and how much is just that SG1 was eventually a mediocre show.

I have to agree that now may be the chance to push for a return of Firefly. But as has been said on threads before, the wallet is the only thing these bastages understand...right now our BDS and BDM is making money without them having to do one single thing except rake it in. Once you take that money away--hit 'em in the wallet--they have to sit up and pay attention.
