I must say it is a very shiny book myself. I bought it two days ago at Books A Million and it is well worth the money to get some deep insight into all the aspects of the show. Now I'm just ready for Volume 2!

Keep flyin'.

For some reason I thought this wasn't coming out til next month. Guess I'm hitting the store tomorrow!

oh my, I walked into Dr. Comics and Mr. Games (Piedmont, ca) yesterday looking for Serenity's trade paperback and I saw it sitting there on the new arrivals shelf and I didn't care. I had to buy it. I was jumping up and down. There may have been staring.

It is THE shiniest book ever. I am reading it slowly, not all at once though that is tempting. I am seriously contemplating buying another one that I can cut up and put all the pretty pictures on my wall, because every person should have a firefly shrine. I am in love with it.

CAN'T WAIT FOR VOLUME 2!

lol.

What's the betting that we have 3 different bookstores in our town and NONE of them will have it in when it gets released

....

better pre-order it.

And that might be just the hint the bookstore needs to get some extra for their shelves.

FIREFAIRY, I also thought of buying a second copy and cutting out all the shiny pictures...but I don't think I could bring myself to do it.

Got a call from the local Barnes and Noble last night that the Companion came in. Went & picked it up. It was the best day ever.

The Borders website (bordersstores.com) claims that the publishing date is August 2006. Which seems more accurate, given that people are buying it... in August... 2006...

My darling Phoenix Rose,

Please don't be cranky. I also went to B&N, and they said that it was in their warehouses already. Take it from a former employee, you can't always trust the website, you have to go to a store, and ask an associate to see their warehouse inventory. I have mine already.

So please my dear, simmer down!

Mal: You know, you ain't quite right.

I can't get it anywhere yet either. A call to Borders and they tell me 1st Sept, B&N said they would have it for me in 2 days then when pushed admitted that they don't get it till September, and my Amazon order won't come till 3rd Sept. I am not happy.

The B&N web site also says it ships within 24 hours, so which is it?

Btw, I called every B&N in the San Francisco Bay Area and they are all sold out! Said the only store that had any copies left is in Gilroy, which is about an hour's drive away (without traffic)!

I did go to the store and was told in no uncertain terms that they had no copies and would have no copies until September and I was basically an idiot for thinking otherwise. When I said I'd heard it was out, in stores, and being bought, eyes were rolled at me. So yeah, not in the best mood.

Not sure what happened where you are PhoenixRose. My Barnes & Noble had 5 copies sitting on the shelf. Granted they had them in the Roleplaying section instead of the TV/Film section, but they had them.

Must be some stores are getting them early & putting them out.

There's a lot of confusion about the release date on several different sites. Looks like they may have messed things up just a bit.

I'd say chance your arm and see if it's there on Monday. We'll likely have to wait a bit longer on this side of the Altantic anyway.

*sigh* and I was hoping to send it to someone for their birthday on September 21st. Can't see that working out!

PHOENIXROSE- Did you try comic book stores too? Thats where I picked mine up yesterday and I also saw a copy at the Waldenbooks yesterday too. I was really surprised cause things take a while to get to Alaska. The big chain stores had no idea what I was talking about when I was frantically calling all of them. But those mom-and-pop comic stores were rather friendly and cool.

Hmmmm, not a bad idea, but most of the smaller stores don't open until after my bedtime. I'm really tired of working nights, you know that? But I've got a day off, so maybe I'll stay up and go check that out. I only really know of one place even remotely nearby, though.

I ordered my copy from amazon.co.uk in april and was told I would receive it june 21st. June 21st came and went, I emailed them, they apologised, they had the date wrong, it should have been july 21st. July 21st as empty as June. I complained lots, amazon apologised again and took delivery charges off my order, they now tell me I will receive it next week.

Seems to me that no one on either side of the atlantic knows whats going on, least of all little ol' me. I just wanna look at the shiny pictures soooooooo much.

Choo, your sig looks fine on a monitor that has the definition turned up, but a little big at the lower definitions.
Also, there's an odd black bit by Mal's head that should be smoothed out and made rounder. There's my graphic artist coming out again.

But I've got the book in my hands. It exists. Two 8 1/2 by 11 pics of Mal page 27 page 79 and lots of other pics of Mal like page 81 82.

8 1/2 full page pics of all 9 characters. Scripts for Serenity episode. The Train Job. Bushwhacked. Shindig. Safe. Our Mrs. Reynolds. English translations after chinese words.

I pre-ordered it at a Barnes and Noble store in the United States. Not from the website. They called me when they got it. Maybe they weren't supposed to release it to me or something. But they did and I AM NOT GIVING IT BACK!

Did you pre-order it from your store?

Maybe the warehouse will send it out to your store like it did to the store I shop at.

Or at least if you pre-order it they will hold you a copy when they get their shipment.

I got a First Edition. And we do not know how many they printed in the First Edition. If it is like normal Firefly/Serenity stuff, they did not print enough. And then people have to wait for the second printing.

Heh, nevermind. The same template was used for the firefly class cargo ship license at the bottom of page 140, and it looks like the text was just copied from some generic legal document about trusts from the Olympia National Bank of Washington. Only the large-type title and sub-headings were changed for the prop. Ah well.

I've had mine on order from Amazon since it was announced and I just got an e-mail from them saying the release date had moved up.

Lo and behold, when I checked my pending orders, the delivery date now said Aug. 29 - Aug. 31!

I loved the Serenity Visual Companion and I'm really looking forward to this one. (Not to mention that it's part of a two-volume set!!)

Barnes and Noble called me last night[wed.] and said my book was ready for pickup. I asked about it on Sunday and they told me it was in their warehouse and they could have it for me in three business days. I'm picking up my copy today, and I encourage browncoats to ask for it at the store. The guy told me it was scheduled to be released next month, but if it's in the warehouse they can get it anytime. PR, I don't think anyone is trying to play a trick on you. I got mine yesterday from B&N. Called the store last week, they didn't have any copies, but the website had it as available, so I ordered through them. Just checked Amazon, and if I was motivated enough would do a pretty screen print and show that it says in stock and that I could have it in my hands by tomorrow, if I wanted to pay an arm and a leg in shipping.

It is beautiful. Big, shiny pictures. I didn't have much of a chance to read it yet, but I am sooooo excited.
