I'd say that the ending to MILLION DOLLAR BABY was something of a happy ending. She died in piece instead of living her life as a vegetable, and Clint got some solace at the end with the lemon pie. Considering the entire flick, I'd have to say that wasn't too bad.

An update. Over the summer, I saw SUPERMAN RETURNS twice. Now I was expecting a really kick ass movie and a worthy heir to the two Donner flicks. Not only did I get that, but I did something that I have never done while watching a comic book movie.

I almost cried. I didn't cry like a little girl with a skinned knee, but I came pretty close at this moment.

Superman: [to Jason asleep in his bed] You will be different, sometimes you'll feel like an outcast, but you'll never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father and the father becomes the son.

Please tell me at least one of you almost or actually cried at that. If you can cry at freaking ARMAGEDDON, then I'm sure you'd be crying at that moment too.

"There's only one "Return" ok, and it ain't "of the King", it's "of the Jedi."

"Maybe we should start calling your friend 'Padme' because he loves 'Mannequin Skywalker' so much, Right? (imitating robot) Danger...danger...my name is Anakin...my shitty acting is ruining saga."

Excerpt of internet teaser for CLERKS 2.

I can't even THINK about Where the Red Fern Grows!

The end of Saving Private Ryan.
The end of Field Of Dreams.

I've been known to cry at adverts, so it's probably better to say what doesn't make me cry

but what comes to mind is:

the lion king (somebody? anybody?)
actually most disney films, it's not a good one if it doesn't make me cry... lilo and stich particularly, I started at the beginning when her 'friends' were being mean and kept going.

and I recently saw grave of the fireflies and blubbed the whole way through

I don't cry at serenity anymore, I did the first few times but I'm immune to it now

"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

There have been only two movies that have made me blubber, although I have teared up during countless moments of Firefly and Serenity, even at the unsad times, like when there is a scene which absolutely defines a character. [sniff]

The Lion King had me before the title appeared. The whole anticipation thing culminating in the break in the clouds. Whoo!

The end of Rudy. Must have been a a half dozen viewings before I got my resistance up. Don't watch it anymore...

There are hundreds of sappy, manipulative cinematic moments that I've let get to me over the years, but these are the only two that fit this criterion.

"Well, here I am."

There haven't been many, but there have been some.

Return of the King. Seeing that in the theater for the first time was a bizarrely emotional thing for a 17-year old dude.

Big Fish. You sit through the whole thing, and then at the end once you realize what the movie is actually about, it's just pure gold.

Shaun of the Dead. Seriously. When a zombie film creates characters that you really, honestly care about, it completely rips your heart out once everything starts to fall apart. It's taken several viewings, but the movie gets to me now. See also: Serenity.

Also, I have been known to shed tears whenever I hear the Jurassic Park theme.

LWAVES

The Return Of The King: When Aragorn tells the Hobbits that they bow down to no-one.

Switched At Birth: TV movie that gets me everytime the Dad tells his daughter that he isn't really her Dad (must be SO hard to do this in real life).

Leon: The obvious scene when he's lying there and Matilda is walking away.

The Green Mile: Gotta agree for the same reasons as stated further up.

E.T.: When you see the red glow in the cask. Did it then and still does it now.

As for TV shows (some have been mentioned) in Buffy when Willow has been bad and is expecting to be punished and Giles asks what she wants and she replies that she just wants to be Willow. What a heartbreaking moment.

Can't say that FF or Serenity have made me cry but I do get misty eyed at River's "You found me broken" scene.

Big Fish, Where the Red Fern Grows, and The Green Mile? What are ya, a buncha sissies?

So count me amongst the sissy ranks. They got me too.

Anyone ever seen Reflection, the last part of the Samurai X OVA series?

Like I said, list me amongst your ranks.

I'm such a chick.

ADD: Also- Leon, Hero, and Unleashed. Someone smack the manliness back into me.

Ok so I forgot about Harry Potter 4 until some sadist brought it up...I just can't stop crying. The sight of Harry clutching the body in hysterics kills me.

Oh and strangely the opening of Jack and Sarah ( british movie with Richard E. Grant) because I've read his book and know what hell he went through in real life with his stillborn baby and it just breaks your heart to see the look of sheer agony on his face and know that's where it's coming from.

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2

I know it's one of those movies that is *supposed* to make you cry, but Schindler's List makes me blub like a baby every time. I'm okay(ish) up until the final scenes when Schindler breaks down, remembering all the money he's wasted. By the time they show the survivors placing stones on his tomb I'm a complete mess. Even listening to that haunting violin solo makes me misty.

Some good ones listed here.

"Glory" always gets me, when the white company shouts "Give 'em Hell, 54".

Guilty as charged.

Also at The Road Home, one of the very best movies I have ever seen.

It tastes of salt Chrisisall
