Mmmmmmmmm last nights dinner was so good! Such yummy steak, aspargus, and loaded baked potato (I'm sure I spelled aspargus wrong..oh well) :)

wifey can cook! WOOT tho the steaks were all me...muahah. and the bernaise sauce. yum. Whenever she makes it I quote the line from History of the World Part 1: Don't get saucy with me, Bernaise!

On an unrelated note: The new Iron Maiden album (released this week) A Matter of Life and Death has some real GREAT songs on it :)

Not really into the harder stuff like Iron Maiden (maybe I'm a little too young to be part of the 80's hard rock scene, though). I did enjoy the new Bob Dylan album, although I've only listened to it once...it could be great, I just don't know yet! I'm kinda curious about the new John Mayer album coming out. His last, the John Mayer Trio album was so good, I'm hoping his new one will have a definite bluesy feel too it...bluesy...now I'm thinking about blue-cheeseburgers, thanks a lot you guys.

WHITEFALL

Ah yes, Mr "there can be only one" G.... a fact several people on this thread keep regretting, hehe.

Ok, here's my post of the day! Hmmm....

Hell Week (TM) is proceeding apace, and, for those who don't know, it's not a week where i get lots of homework, it is the week that leads up to the opening (and closing) of a show, Charlie Brown in this case. The issue with homework is, i only have 2-3 hours awake at home on any given day, if i get what would usually be a large amount of homework, i can get sorta floored. hasnt happened yet this week tho.

I do enjoy it though. I heartily recommend this business of spending your entire days hanging out with people, it rocks. People are so cool. People being.... people who are friendly and awesome, which us theater folks be . Not to be confused with the other sort of 'people'. The kind who are generalized stereotyped masses who um... aint people.

Here's a funny story. In Civics, we kept talking about the importance of representetive government vs direct democracy, and my teacher has, on several different occassions, asked variations on the question "Why were the founding [ parental figures ] concerned about putting power in the hands of the people?" To effeciently counter this question, I took a pen and a spare sheet of paper, and wrote in big read letters:

"BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE STUPID!!!"

And I show my teacher this sign whenever that question pops up. So far, he's let me get away with it. Good antics fun stuff. I could have said "because people are flawed, and act only in terms of self interest" blah blah blah, but I like my sign better.

See! I'm working on that "making school and theater my life!" thing.

Oops, I need to get some biology done.

Keep the preffered faith all!

Hey Whitefall - thanks for the daily!

I grew up in that very environment & know exactly what you mean - there are a few of us here at FFF.net! 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown' - I have never done, but I have heard about it - probably a little more in the American psyche than the Australian, but it has been done here before - chookas Darling!

Mister G... how could you? Just rub it in why don't you? With you and wifey though - it's probably a good thing that I live as far away as I do coz I am actually losing weight - if you were within range I would, no doubt, be gaining it!!

I love your quote JP... it is just perfect - I had thought of those words but never thought to put them here in wome way! U2 Rock!! They had to cancel the end of their tour which meant thay didn't make it to 'New Melbourne' where I live - but they are coming back now that the Edge's daughter is on the mend and will be here in November. Yay!!

Listen to 'Walk On' and tell me that isn't a Firefly song. (Well, check out the chapter headings in 'Zen and the Art...') And that second song on 'HTDaAB' is very River - "I want to take a trip inside your head, spend the day there..."

I find a lot of songs spark something FF in my head. I have a writing playlist, with some very odd mixes on it.

Yes! You are so right!! I will have to listen to that album again!

I know it's been done before in a thread here but there are so many songs that make me think of Firefly these days!

...then again it could be my one-track-mind...

...no! There's another track too but then it all vcomes back to the verse in the end...

Even my favourite Pink Floyd song which has very happy memories for me is bringing me back to Friefly these days...

Morning, all!

ASOFT, sorry I asked a question and disappeared on you...I lost track of time and had to go home from work! Does sound like you have quite a load there...if we can help, let us know. I think if we all pool our experiences, we can get you through some stuff..

Emma, excuse my English, but WTF? Did I miss something? What happened that a Dr is threatening surgery?

LA29, with love and respect...I may have to start calling you Frankenstein! I am kidding...you've just had a lot done. Ouch. to make all things better.

TrogMan! Welcome back! I may not be the one to answer your imponderable at the moment, but I'm glad to see you back!

PR, thank you again. Strangely enough, the impending divorce is turning out alright. We are still living under the same roof and are quite cordial to each other...still eating together, watching movies, etc. I was hoping that we could remain friends, and it appears that may happen.

Magdalena, I got your email and am responding in between postings...it'll get there soon!

MisterG, not only do we have MSG teasing us with descriptions of her delicious cooking, now we have you, too? Oy, not fair!

Ok...more coffee, then I need to check out the photo links on the D*C thread...see what I missed. I shall return!

Morning all:) Hey there may be only one MisterG, but all are welcome to share in my cooking:) Drop by any time.

Emma- HUGS I've had a few operations(4) and though each made me nervous, it all worked out fine. Just remember to follow instructions and also to have someone there when you wake up( trust me you'll really want a drink of water instantly)HUG and is there anything we can do to help?

Nv- I know the bill feeling. Don't you remember when you were a kid and got money it was yours. You just happily spent time figuring out exactly what you wanted to buy and I always thought grow-ups could do the same only they had more money. It was so terribly disappointing to find that with paychecks come bills.

hmmm I don't really think a gender holds the "forgive and forget" gene. I really think it depends on the person. For me, unless you've repeatedly done something truly horrible, I'm pretty much a let it go kind of person. I always assume the person didn't mean to hurt me, unless I have ample evidence to the contrary....that said, rough patches suck!

Top 'o' the mornin'!

Emma, I've recently been faced with surgery and it kind of freaks me out. When I initially broke my arm, they put surgery off b/c they didn't want to mess up my shoulder: They thought it would heal fine on its own. Well, it didn't, so every six weeks surgery was brought up. Now, 11 months later, I wish we had just done it in the first place. I would've healed faster and probably had less lasting effects. Without surgery, I have a frozen shoulder, I am still looking at many more months of physical therapy, cortisone injections and quite possibly, surgery. Blech!

I agree. I think it's individual based. Sadly, I am one to hold grudges. You only get a few chances with me. Hurt me too often and it's over, with no going back.

HUgs rugbug I know shoulder injurys can be really tricky and painful. Our neighbor had one and it wasn't healing and it turned out there was an infection in the muscle tisue and it ended up being quite a deal to fix with multiple surgeries... so hang in there gorgeous and eat lots of dark chocolate while you hunt for your soulmate...hey see then you could have someone to take care of you and all:)

Hello, all! Sending out wellness vibes.

Tristan and PaganPaul: Hugs and mush! You hold until your Soul Mate shows up.

Trogman: Women hold a grudge, no question! My ability to remember that awful thing he did, while he has no recollection at all, has been a source of friction in relationships.

There's actually a joke about gay marriage being easier because:
Man 1: Do you remember what happened the last time we went to dinner with them?
Man 2: No.
Man 1: Neither do I.
Man 2: O.k. then.

I don't even want to think about how long lesbian fights could last.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Sorry y'all, I swear here, but it's to make the point. I promise it's not gratuitous.

I am not a "forgive and forget" type. If someone wants my forgiveness, they have to fucking work for it. Words only get you so far; once you overstep your bounds, you have to actually do something. Most people are not willing to change or work or make it up to me, so I've never forgiven those who I feel have betrayed me. Well, I've gotten to the point where I don't want them to die, but I don't want to talk to them.
My mom, on the other hand, always gave lots of chances and forgave very easily. That bit her in the ass a few times, and now she's a bit less free with it, though she's still more lenient and forgiving than I am. I wouldn't say it has anything to do with gender, or even genes, it seems.

Hey Rugbug - that sounds so painful! I injured my ankle a couple of years ago and the conflicting advice was coming thick and fast - it is confuzzling... I am so sorry it has gone on for so long!

I am still sending vibes your way Emma - hope you feel up to visiting today so that you see how many of us care! We love you Darlin' take care and let us know how it's going - you know we're here to listen!

Tristan - thank you again! I am loving the emails!!

Hmmmm... ponderin' - I agree that there is no real gender issue according to my experience. Both male and female tend to react according to their personality - ability to live and learn. I personally feel that life is too short and emotions are too precious to hold a grudge for long... it takes up too much energy! But I have friends who are positively stil having nervous breakdowns over things that happened years ago... of both sexes.

EDIT: Hey GPR! Love the postal-overlap! WE do that often! I know what you mean about earning forgiveness - I just figure after a while I don't hold the actual anger - I really don't give in to hate either - it's not a productive emotion. Most of the time I get angry when others whom I love are attacked and that is why I have been cursing the 'ex of doom' lately! feel free to get it out of your system with me anytime!!

I forgive for my own peace - not for the other person's, and often when not forgiving is more damaging and kind of 'redundant', but really I am pretty easy going and try not to let the negative emotions overwhelm me - not always successfuly... but in the end I 'let it go' - yeah - that's the way it is - not so much forgiveness but 'letting go'... I don't let them have the power to make me feel bad anymore - it has taken years in a couple of cases, months in others - but in the end - they don't have that power over me...

Uh Oh! - I sound like a guru!!

I guess I forgive simply because I have the attention span of a gnat and am naturally sunny enough that I let very little get to me:)Plus it's just such a waste of energy. I mean if they did it by accident then you're cruel to hold it against them, and if they did it on purpose, then they aren' the sort of person you should waste a second's thought on. But again that's just me. I really think it's personality not gender that determine's grudge holding....though I will say my mother -in-law's a champion grudge holder...she can go years.

I know. I am not a good Buddhist

I tend to be equally mad when I see others hurt; those that I care about. Maybe a bit moreso. It, of course, depends on the level of hurt. Some people I care about have had things happen that fill me with burning rage, and I can't say I've been hurt badly enough myself to feel it at that same level.

Well, see, I let it go (usually) but I don't forget. And if the person hurts me too many times, or too badly all at once, I no longer give them a place in my life. That's what I mean by holding a grudge. I can't just wipe the slate clean and see them as a fresh new person.

Tristan: I can't imagine being in your situation. I never want to be there. I'm reeling over what's going on with you...so what must you be going through. I know that's a bit odd to say, seeing as I only know you online, but I loved the way you talked of your relationship with your wife. You seemed very centered and aware, blah, blah, blah. And then this. Eek. Even PaganPaul's talk of his relationship and then his recent revelations has me spinning about.

MisterG and MSG: you guys better keep it together. I don't think I can take anymore seperation/divorce talk right now. (been some in my real life as well).

As for the shoulder: well, I really shouldn't complain. It is much better than it was...or than it could be. I'm just getting a little tired of it. I've been going to PT for almost 7 months, three times a week. That gets old. But, at least I can ride...and mostly without pain. Oddly, I can't reach for the remote control without pain, but I can jump my horse around a little course and be fine. I guess my shoulder is telling me to get my arse off the couch.

Thats some funny stuff. Seems more painful to do nothing than to do the things we love.
Stayed up 'til two this morning with BabyV. She was happy pretty much the whole time. That in its self is a little odd.
I really don't know where this is going. Court on Monday. Custody hearing and sisters criminal trial all in the same morning. I have a bad feeling there may be some BS loophole or oversight that will allow her to get the kids back.

Probably just worrying too much. Just hate to think all of this will fall in and disappear.

So, getting real, I'm afraid to be without them. They have been my saving grace for the last few months. I honestly don't know what I'll do without them. Eventually my sister may get them back. And what about my BabySis? She's pretty much given up on everything else except BabyV.

Think I'll return to my alternate universe for a bit.

DAYVE

Domestic troubles…? Domestic troubles…?

Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

As you may or may not have noticed, I haven’t been around here in a while. And now, when I check the thread, I see all manner of turmoil in the ranks. To quote an old Grateful Dead tune…”What a long, strange trip it’s been..”
I sometimes think of my marriage like that…sometimes stranger than others….but (and I’m not bragging or anything here); the wife and I recently acknowledged our 26th year together. I say acknowledge, because after that many years, to celebrate... well not so much. But 26 years…man, I know marriages that didn’t last that many months… Also, as the years roll by, and as our anniversary comes up – I always give her the option to opt out…. Maybe someday she’ll take me up on it (doubtful).

So, for what it’s worth (coming from a non-regular imponderable-err), Tristan, Pagan Paul and anyone else suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune…my condolences or congratulations… take what you will and leave the rest.

Ponder this: You spelled 'Jingleheimer' wrong. The way you've got it spelled, it would be pronounced 'Jingle-hee-mer'.

Sorry for this interruption; but, I just can't stand people's names getting misspelled. I mean, we are all unique individuals, and yet all the same, all One.

Aww! You guys are the best! Just look at all the well wishes on here for me. Shucks! You make me feel guilty for moaning when I'm not more sick (after all there are some serious problems being undergone by people here.)

Don't worry about me, it's nothing too serious. I've had this irritating um, swelling in my gut (edited to remove technospeak and ickiness!) for a while now but the doctor's trying another huge dose of antibiotics before we resort to the knife. Wheeee! Look at the spinny lights!

It's not going to keep me from my Firefly convention next week though!
Oh ! I've just realised that I'm going to have to cut out (or at least down on) the binge drinking I was planning. Pooh!

Anyway, back to the imponderables. Forgiveness? Tricky one and one I'm still working on. I quite often think I've forgiven people and then the next time they do something to upset me all the old bitterness comes back. Anyone have any tips for improving my mental health by allowing me to let go of stuff?

I felt the need to post this...for all of us:)
Instructions for Life” by The Dalai Lama

Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
Follow the three R’s: Respect for Self, Respect for Others, and Responsibility for all you actions.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
Spend some time alone every day.
Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life, then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it second time.
A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
Be gentle with the Earth.
Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
Judge your success by you had to give up in order to get it.
Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

Both. If I'm even a little sad, and I put in John Denver (cut me some slack, it's the music of my childhood) I get the urge to slit my wrists. As much as I enjoy the greatest hits, I CANNOT listen to the music without getting depressed.

Was listening to a mix the other day and it had some Fresh Prince...I mean Will Smith on it. That just made me have to get up and shake my groove thing.

Early ska puts me in an easy going laid back frame of mind. Although I usually only feel like listening to it on beautiful sunny days. So maybe it's the day...or the combination.

I clean to The Sundays for some reason. They're mellow, but upbeat enough that the time passes as pleasantly as it can whilst scrubbing toilets.

Yeah, I get the same urge from hearing John Denver too.

But really, I hate the way most of the younger women in my life listen to music. One or two songs on a CD for "Nostalgic" purposes,(Though sometimes they won't admit to it). And what the hell is up with having to change CD's every song or two? Just listen to the whole damn thing, or at least half, already.
What I really don't get is this:
I was driving with a my best friend one morning after a long night at the bar shooting pool. I started listening to Tom Petty and skipped to Mary Jane's Last Dance. She suddenly got very angry and ejected the disk. "You're thinking about her, aren't you?" she asked. "Yeah. So?", I said. She proceeded to tell me how jealous of the ex she was, and they never even met. SO F-ing what if I was being nostalgic. I put up with so much from women over the years.

Done for a bit. Need to work some.

Because you don't like his music or b/c it depresses you.

One word: iPod. or maybe back farther: Napster. Downloading music means you only have to listen to the songs that drew you to the album in the first place. You no longer have to listen...and usually grow to love...the rest of the album. It's so easy to switch from song to song.

Well, NV. If I was interested in a guy who persisted to wax poetical about an ex, I would get upset. If we were just friends, not so much. Doesn't mean you can't enjoy the memories, just don't let me know about it. That's all.

See, that makes sense. But why would someone who'd been with most everyone we knew at the time get all sandy in the britches over me having a fond memory.
As much as I hate being alone, I can't believe how well it is starting to suit me.
I tend to look at romance in a very grainy light anymore. My personality is less than spontaneous because of bad timing, (or bitchy women). I've been burned and blown off so many times I just don't like the idea of showing up with flowers or kidnapping someone for lunch.
I am ruined and fear there will be no return of the the "Sweet" NVG that I hear about all the time. Just gettin' tired of hearing how sweet I am from everyone but the women I persue. Everyone around them mention it in layers, but none of it seems to matter.
I told my family that I have accepted this as being my life. Cleaning up messes, helping everyone, helping with the kids, being pretty much broke.
So, not to sound too greedy, Where is the F-ing incentive?
Being patient sucks!

How do MrG? Funny how women hold grudges and remember even the slightest of details. If only we could use a female brain for our coputers memory. Problem is that if something disagreeable happened with another computer, yours would have a terrible memory lapse and "forget" some of the things you want to see. Either that or it'd ignore you for a while.

Just got like fourty notifications on my E-mail. Kinda cool to see all your notifications arrive at once.

Probably out for the night folks. Maybe I'll be in a better mood tomorrow. Sleep may help a bit.

NV- I feel compelled to share a profound truth I learned when I was 17...Sweet will get you stomped on. Bitter is better:) Well ok not like nasty hateful bitter, but bitter in the "um no this is my life and this is what I am doing and you're not voting as my physical and mental being are not a democracy" is better.
I say this as someone who right now feels guilty that I am not over helping my brother and sister in law do yard work in their new house ( after teaching all day, having a meeting, then tutoring for 2 hours)I feel bad that I'm not taking care of them, but I have really worked at saying NO and taking me time and letting people clean up their own mess or wallow in it. It's worked for me....maybe you should take a me berak and go do something fun for you....actually I think we all should

OK everyone go empty your bank accounts, buy plane tickets, and meet me in Vegas. Then we can all run wild like crazed monkies

... I emptied my bank account and it got me as far as the station - but on the bright side I am picking up a Companion (Firefly &/or Serenity) today after work!!!

Actually - if they keep bringing out shiney things to do with the series I might never have enough money to meet you all in Vegas... Any of you want to fly to Australia..?

Tristan - I am drinking real coffee as I write this! Not the instant variety!!

And BTW - I can't find my BDM!!!!!!!!!!! *hyperventilates and passes out*

Sweet is just the label I'd been given. Ain't runnin' with the damn thing. Can't stand it. I know better. Guess it's just the stigma that will follow mw 'til doomsday. On a brighter note. Aside from staying late off the clock to finish more budget crap, I'm going home to continue my fic. Seems there are at least ten people reading it, just not much feedback. Don't know how to take non-critcism (No clue how to spell this late in the day. F-it. Who cares?)

Mags, I may make a trip in that direction some day. Been looking at the Atlas for research and there seems to be lots of ground to cover in you part of the world.

Off I am to write and play with the kids. May eat and sleep in between here and there.

Hugs to all.

...OK let me tell you that that is exactly what I do as well... I can never find a CD coz I am always doing the 'domino' thing as I call it - the U2 CD is in the Robbie Williams cover, RW is in the InXS cover, InXS is in the Pink Floyd cover and so on...

Thank you sweet MsG - you have calmed me no end!

Oh heck - now I'll have to buy the soundtrack CD too!!!!!!! *panics all over again...*

EDIT: recovers enough to read NVG's post - hey NVG (I will refrain from calling you sweet if you like!) You are so welcome to come and crash if you end up in 'New Melbourne'! There is a lot of country over here and nowhere near the population of the USA - we number about 20million here and the mainland is not that much smaller than the mainland of the US (not including Alaska...) You could ride your bike for days and days and really enjoy yourself!

You might want to avoid watching 'Wolf Creek' before you do though - or maybe I should come with you... I think the only way I will be doing something like that since 'Wolf Creek' came out is with a strong, resourceful guy like yourself... hmmmmmmmm..... LOL!

Love to you both (OK and all other imponderers reading this...) - Magdalena x x x x x

EDIT again: I just heard the funniest thing - Paris Hilton was charged with drink driving coz she couldn't walk in a straight line or count to 10!!! Did anyone think that Paris Hilton could count to 10???

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Morning everyone!
Ah yes, music. It used to really annoy me when my friends would have, like, CDs in their cars and they would stop the album after one and a half songs and switch it out. Bothered me to no end! I have most of my music on my computer on shuffle, but I'll listen to an album all the way through on a pretty regular basis; or just a lot of one artist.
Sometimes I look for music to suit my mood. More often than not, I just skip around on my media player until it lands on something I can stand listening to. My moods have been strange of late, and sometimes I just can't stand a certain style.
Sometimes, though, I can put on Jovi or the Goo Goo Dolls and be in a great mood just because of them. Other music is good for bringing my aggression out.
Hey magda! Movie still missing?! I really hope it turns up! Soon!

WHITEFALL

Yah! FMF's back!

Ah, my post of the day... we only have three rehearsals left before we open on wednesday, and... well, we're screwed. But eh, as my favorite director told me, she said "it's the magic of theater, don't worry, it'll all come together". I can hope.

In the meantime, I have a ton of work to do and almost no time to do it. Reading up on you all takes a lot of time!

And here's a thing... as to whether we really "know" each other, I say we do. We know each other in the purist way people can know each other: the way we want to be seen. Now, we might not interact as well in life as we do online, but only because we deal with people differently than we want to. We express ourselves, and represent ourselves, as we choose when we're online. Kinda pretty if you think about it.

In other news, I heard today that my summer-long plan to write a play and submit it to the thespian festival next year is almost surely dead. The deadline is in two weeks or so, i'd need my sponser's permission, and of course, I'd need a play, that I never quite managed to write, and wont be able to during hell week. It's hard to write a 30 min play that you know will have no props, no set, and only 3 days to learn it, while making a western based on the 'life just keeps going' feeling of firefly. Oh well, pipedreams: they belong in pipes. Wish i'd been a little more organized.

I need to get working on my math. Keep flying guys.
