Yay! So happy! I never started a thread either so Yay!!! Hmmmmm... pondering - what is your guiltiest secret film enjoyment that you are embarassed to admit that you enjoyed? ...and why? Mine is 'Independence Day' - I saw it when it first came out and was impressed by the special effects, and I have to admit I was a huge fan of Brent Spiner from 'Star Trek:TNG' at the time and enjoyed his performance - however I fell in love with this gorgeous actor who was about the only one not to go over the top with his performance and who looked drop dead gorgeous in his blue Air Force uniform... Adam Baldwin... I have seen this move more times than I care to admit! ... although maybe I have a darker secret than that... coz everyone will forgive me for drooling over Jayne.. er I mean Major Mitchell.. oh Adam! ... won't they?

Hey, Independence Day isn't bad! Of course, I love Will Smith without bias, so... Um, I can't think of a movie I watch that makes me blush when I think of someone finding out about it. I'm not a big movie person, though. Don't see many of them (except when I was dating a movie geek) and certainly don't buy that many to watch over and over. I will say that I'm a huge sucker for the Disney films of my youth. The Aristocats and Aladdin and the Lion King and them. Armageddon I know it's silly, but it's fun! I laugh every time I watch it. And, erm... well... *coughsteelmagnoliascough* Now to distract you - my worst first date movie ever, and not the guy's fault. We decided on the traditional movie and dinner theme. I *think* we were going to see a star wars prequel, but it was booked out. So, we had a look at the different movies available, hummed and hawed for a bit, and eventually went for one that we assumed was a romantic comedy. It was called The Secretary. And, well, I can't find a reference on IMDB, but it was... sort of... well, the movie was an exploration of sexual dominance and submission. Kinda. Very arty. Not a first date movie. Morning, Everyone. Well, I can breathe again. The Philly container I was stressing over a few days ago was received at the warehouse this morning, and the load is intact. The seal was broken at port to inspect it (and yes, they found contraband - a case of champagne for my boss!) and I was sooo worried some nasty thug would steal $50 k worth Italian leather sofas. Whew! Didn't happen. In terms of movies, my guilty pleasure is Time Bandits. I just love that stupid movie! I'll watch it whenever it is on. Steel Magnolias is not one of my favorites. I saw that movie for the first time a few weeks after I was diagnosed with kidney disease and it scared the crap out of me! "Have you ever been with a Warrior Woman?"

Hello wonderful people!! Well for an idea off the top of my head you guys went with it and have meade me laugh so much! I went to bed for 10 mins and woke up three-and-a-half housrs later - and guess what's on TV that I have never ever seen??? A Knights Tale??? There's Wash!! ...I mean Alan Tudyk!! So I imagine I will enjoy that - for all the right resons of course! So ... the Crying Game? I went to see that with my Dad & he was more embarrassed than I was - to be sure! There is an Australian film calle 'Monkey Grip which was released in the mid-late 1980s - it starred a Play School presenter, Noni Hazeljurst & Colin Friels - and involved many explicit sex scenes - which since I was just 18 at the time were pretty educational - but my 16-year-old sister and I were wishing the ground would open up and swallow us! Thank you dear Penguin! I will look that one up because I am a huge Mark Harmon fan - used to lovwe St Elsewhere in the 80s and never have got over him! (...ooops - did I write that - Out loud?) EDIT: Ah the joy of postal-overlap! Hello dear Mav - I am so glad that your containerly woes are behind you! And... yes as a *cough* ...fan... of Steel Magnolia's I do think you would not enjoy it! I love the accents though! (I'd love to do the play one day - though I suspect I am looking at a different role to the one I used to covet!)

Oh, coffee is the stuff of life...and fresh-ground in our office by lil ol me! Knights Tale has to be my guilty pleasure movie, too. Generally, I am a stickler for historical accuracy in movies (Gladiator made me twitch numerous times), so I was fully expecting to be disappointed by this one...and I was. But. But, when the first thing I heard was Queen music during the first joust, I decided to suspend belief and just enjoy it...and I really did. So, yes, that is my guilty pleasure movie. This thread is ours, which means anyone should be able to start a new thread if the old one gets too long. Makes me happy that people wnat to keep it going! Hi Kelkhil! I have another guilty pleasure now that you remind me of it - the Scream trilogy - they are so funny/scary! Silly things but my best friend is too scared to watch them... I like the humour! And I too disliked 'Gladiator', never saw what all the fuss was about... but I am enjoying A Knights Tale for all the same reasons - it is not supposed to be taken seriously and it is really corney at times, but I'm enjoying many of the comic aspects... it's just when a film wants to be taken seriously and it sucks that I can't stand it! ...Heath Ledger would apprear to have a skinny, hairless chest though... bit disappointing that... (Not that I care if any of my FFmen have skinny &/or hairless chests - just that someone with Heath Ledgers voice shouldn't look quite so 'adolescent' when he takes off his shirt... Edit: that was... Hello INeverMarried! - what part of the UK are you from? It's 12.30am on Saturday here folks (Yes - hello from tomorrow Tristan!!) and I am watching A Kinights Tale as I type this - "Oh No! They've found out he's not really who he says he is!!" (...and Alan Tudyk's hair is funny!LOL!) I understand the anime thing too - not that I am in to it these days, but when I was a child my friends thought me a little weird that I loved 'Kimba the White Lion' and 'Astro Boy' so much - it was their eyes and the funny way they spoke that I adored!

OK, now I'm catching up with yesterday... Rugbug - re meeting up right away - I never did! I went on four dates from match.com, and each one had at least two weeks of swapping emails beforehand. Maybe it's a Vermont thing, but each guy waited for me to make the decision that we should meet. They offered their phone numbers, and left it up to me to call or not. Nice boys.! There's nothing wrong with insisting that you wait to get to know them over email, and then maybe a phone call or two, before you meet face to face. That's the whole point of the internet dating thing (or it was for me) is meeting people and yet avoiding that really awkward date with someone you don't know at all and end up not liking but you're stuck with them through dinner. Don't worry about being rude. Just insist that they stick with email, and don't even follow up if you're not interested. I was trying to be nice, but that doesn't work. Polite good, nice not so much. You have a hopeful, huh? You gonna swap info before your membership expires? ----------------------------------------------- I'm the president. I don't need to listen.

I guess because Eliza Dushku and Kirsten Dunst play cheerleaders I guess. And come on how funny is the "spirit fingers." Those aren't spirit fingers, these are spirit fingers. I was surprised when one of my friends said that her younger brother and another friend were watching it one evening - both 'boys' were in the youth group which I ran at the time - I said, "Why would they be interested in 'Bring it On'? Bit of a chick flick I would have thought", but she gave me one of those looks and just said - "the car wash"... I was floored!... my young boys were growing up... Edit: I also love 'When Harry Met Sally' and can quote huge chunks of it... 'tis a sad fact, but there it is! ...of course the "...I'm gonna be 40!" line isn't quite so funny when you are 39, but it was hilarious when I was 32!! ...now where'd I put that DVD...?

oh!! i LOVE 'bring it on' as well, mainly cause elisa dushku was in it.. and i do love cheerleaders (yet ANOTHER cool thing we don't really have in OZ) ummm.. lets see there are so many movies to choose from...oh! another would be 'centre stage' cause i trained as a classical ballet dancer for about 12 years...before i realised i didn't want to be a professional dancer...and that movie really struck a chord with me...also i just really like any movie with any kind of dancing in it. im also a HUGE fan of all Disney movies..especially the cool older ones, when they were all musicals and had storylines based on myths and fairytales... and i just spent the last 2hours or so watching My Fair Lady on cable...one of the best movies ever... (OMG, Magdda... you posted that it was saturday, earlier, and when i read that i had a total random moment of.."it's SATURDAY??? does that mean it's saturday NIGHT?? where the hell did saturday go?? i thought this was friday...did i just totally miss a day?..what day was today, anyway??" oooooooohhh, yeeaaahh, i'm abolutely on the ball right now...consiering t's 2 in the morning ********************* If Cavemen and Astronauts had a fight....

I really shouldn't have gotten the truck muddy. Took eight hours of hand buffing to clear up 16 years worth of oxidation. But it was very fun. Oh well. Still need to wash the windows. She's so whiny in those movies. I guess it don't help that she's so gorram cute. I love the Sixteen Candles referances in Harold and Kumar (another guilty pleasure).
