Why thankee Sweetheart! I do try to do my best...

I am watching 'Done the Impossible' right now, and I also received my copy of 'Firefly, the Official Companion' today - 'tis so very shiny!!! I am having a very Firefly evening! I have tomorrow off work so I am indulging in some late night posting and absorbing the scripts (phoenetic Chinese, English translations and all!!!)

Life does not suck at all...

Oh - and I have my eye on the time...

Edit: for my slowness of posting I get to say - Ooh - post it anyway MsG!!! I'm going to look now!

And I am now wondering if you'lll have posted something else at the same time as I post this one Phoenix Rose?

And thank you so very much Mavourneen... I am in the picture thread in talk story - though you might have to go back a couple of threads to find the 'real me'... I love Sigourney Weaver though so 'tis a compliment!!

And thank you

Ok so it looks like we might have a new topic:

tat or no tat?

also what are your opinions on the inking of oneself.

I will go first....

I have 2 tats. One black ink on the back of my neck and the other is a dragon wrapped around a crystal ball on my left shoulder.

I love tats. I would have more if I could afford. I have a friend working on a design for a new one. It will be another dragon. this time it will start on my right arm. the tail is gouing to wrap around my arm and it will end up with the dragon digging into my shoulder and pearing over my chest. not sure yet if I want it breathing fire.

ok, K, i know this has been discussed on (probably) more than one thread - and I really didn't mean to start anything, (just the cartoon of the day in my mail box ), but my thoughts on tattoos - what the hell - to each his own... if you like them that's cool - personally one of the most beautiful parts of the female anatomy to me is the small of a woman's back - and frankly, i see no need for adornment, like Zip said above the Gluteal Cleft....

The right tat looks great on some, but the wrong one looks hidious on others - but they do seem to be very popular.

Back!
I think that some tats are quite beautiful. There are some I might get were I a bit different. Here's the thing, is that my body treats a mere piercing as an infection to be cast out, swollen over, and nastified. How would I react to a tattoo? I do not want to find out. Also, I am a wuss and do not enjoy pain. And tattoos cost ridiculous amounts of money.
If I could get tattoos, I would have a full totem pole going down my spine, a phoenix at the top, with its wings spread over my shoulders.
Some tats are quite unattractive, but they can be artful and/or sexy. It really depends.

I have seriously considered getting a tattoo, but a small one and probably in a special spot where I would only show it to special folk... it would be small... partyly because I wouldn't want the tat to 'take over' from my own self... (make sense?) ... and partly because I do not cope well with pain!

My main issue is that I have never found or even thought of something that symbolises me and my personality susinctly enough to be worth placing on my body for all eternity! (Wombat? X'ian fish? Serenity in Chinese?...)

So, if I do find it, when I do, and if I am feeling strong enough for the pain-aspect of it all... I might!

Is that as clear as mud?

I've only ever had my ears pierced, GPR! I hope my Mei Mei wasn't in too much pain...

EDIT: good morning Penguin! I don't suppose there's much use having a tattoo... nobody would see it under your feathers!!... and I found this for you! ...

Me too. Not for long, though. I can still feel a tiny little bit of scar tissue in my left ear, which was the badly swollen one. It didn't hurt, actually, it just... oozed and was annoying and refused to heal. It runs in the family; my mom could never get her ears properly pierced either. The longest she ever went she wore gold studs, and I think that lasted about eight months, I don't remember.
Yes, I have a delicate system.

They really don't hurt all that much. Well depending where you get them. There are tender spots that hurt like al get out but for the most part the area either goes numb and all you feel is pressure or its just a little prickly.

Mostly the spots that hurt are spots that are not .....I guess the best phrase is rubbed as often. Like the under side of the arm and the inside of the legs. Also places that do not have alot of meat on them like the ankle or the spin, neck and ribs.
I thought mine hurt less then my ear piercings. And the after care is soo much easier.
But then again I think that ear piercing is probably more painfull then most others too. I had my bellybutton pierced and currently have the nipples and they hurt less than an ear piercing.

Bye bye Gorgeous MsG! Have fun with Wyatt!

Oh Mei Mei - it is funny but I was 'allowed' to get my ears pierced when I turned 16 but I had to wait until a cyst in one of my ears disappeared - I am prone to those... I never had any problems though... nor did my sisters!

One of my sisters had her belly button pierced while she was in Amsterdam... and despite having a pretty terrific pain threshold her friend heard her scream when it was done - she is a nurse and kept it clean, but it kept getting infected for the first couple of years - now though it's fine and despite having to take the ring out twice during the later stages of pregnancy it has never closed up.

I often go for weeks or months without wearing my earings but mine have never closed either...

Count me in the inked club!

I am the proud owner of one tattoo, which I love to bits. It's pretty generic, just a celtic knot in the shape of an inverted triangle on my lower back, just below my waist. I absolutely adore it though. I always knew I'd go with something Celtic as I'm fiercely proud of my Irish heritage and believe strongly that tattoos should be something that reflects you as a person. Although the symbol is in no way unique, it's special to me.

I'm also a total wuss when it comes to pain, but it wasn't difficult at all. Hurt a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought it would. I'm strongly considering a second tattoo, but keep dithering about exactly where to put it. I'm thinking of getting the Irish word for Serenity (suaimhneas) tattooed in ogham, *possibly* on the back of my neck, but I'm unsure about that. Again, as well as my love of the show the word Serenity has a personal meaning for me too.

I actually wrote an essay about tattoos and modern Paganism for witchvox.com, but they're waaaay behind in posting essays and it hasn't been posted yet! I'll have to put a link in the forsaken thread when it shows up.

More graphics available at www.desktophippie.com - yes, I've moved!
