RAINSTICK

hi there,
i just signed up and wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself to all you other fans of the 'verse. i guess i'm quite an exception in that i am german (after all, the show only ever aired (in part) in the states). i came across firefly and serenity via a dvd review in empire i think it was, about half a year back. i checked out the official site after reading the review, got instantly hooked, ordered the dvds of both firefly and serenity, and got even more hooked. i don't know how often i have watched the show now, too often perhaps, but i am not sick of it yet. i even got my younger brother into it too (well, a bit at least). now i have taken the final step to geekiness (no offense) and signed up to a fan-board. here i am. hope we get along well.

Welcome Aboard, Rainstick,
It's always fun to hear how different people came across Firefly and Serenity. It's also fun to hear that more people are learning about the 'Verse around the world. Just so you know, you won't find anyone on this site that feels you can ever watch too much Firefly. We watch the episodes over and over.

We're glad you found your way to FFF.net. If you ever need anything, just get on the Cortex and send us a wave. There is always someone around.

I made a web site to introduce my friends to the 'Verse.

Welcome Rainstick!

You aren't alone; there are several Germans who post regularly here. I know Esther is German. She pops in and out sometimes.

Have fun here- we're a friendly bunch. We look forward to seeing you in the threads!

There's lots of other Firefly stuff besides the series and movie. Check out the unfilmed script "Dead or Alive", the viral videos, the fanfics here and on stillflying.net, the books...

i'm from near dortmund (100-120 km east of Cologne). a side note on that: when i saw the alliance cruiser named "Dortmunder" in the first firefly episode i was quite surprised. didn't expect a spaceship in an american tv series that was set in a universe dominated by a sino-american alliance to be named after a german city. funny that.
but at the moment i'm in london actually, studying.

Welcome Rainstick:

No offence taken. We are geeks and proud of it.
Don't worry about watching the show to much. You'll find people here who have worn out their first set of DVD's and are working on their second. Actually I don't know if you can wear out a DVD. But you give it a try.

So welcome to your new home.

The show has aired in many countries, though admittedly the airings were all after the show was already cancelled. Three episodes (Trash, The Message & Heart Of Gold) had their world premiere airing in the UK.

I emigrated. I've lived in Germany eight years altogether, but five of them were at the very beginning. I didn't always think this way, but now there is definitely "the old country" and "home". I live here in California with Klinsi.

Not to worry, rainstick. Double posts are a fairly common occurrence around here, so we're all pretty much used to them. There seem to be some pirates lurking around ready to hijack any duplicate threads, so they never go to waste.

So, I haven't seen our supply officer FollowMal lately. That means you haven't been issued one of her shiny new virtual browncoats. At times like this, I offer new folks the option of one of the used coats I've recycled. Neatly brushed and patched as necessary, but the fit is catch-as-catch-can. Here's one that may not be too bad. Wear it with pride. Its last owner did. If you run across FollowMal, ask her for a new coat and drop this one off in my repair shop for the next recruit.

Welcome rainstick! Always glad to see a new recruit! Don't worry, you can't watch Firefly or Serenity ' too often '. It's just not possible Make yourself at home. Serenity might not look like a big ship, but she'll fool ya! There's plenty of room on board for you and all.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Or not! DonCoat's browncoats are right shiny and a lot of folks choose to keep the sweet, warm worn in ones. And that'd be fine with me. As DonCoat noticed I've not been about, been busy with real life ( sadly ) and unable to be around as much. I also seem to have lost my good right hand woman, RadarRese, who usually helps me keep track of folks. I am hoping to hear from her soon, she is much missed.

Anyway, welcome to the 'Verse RainStick. I do indeed hand out new browncoats and if you'd prefer a new one, let me know.. just PM me. Otherwise it seems that DonCoat has you taken care of. I'd imagine that there will be folks along soon to offer you strawberries and hopefully shimmerwine. I'll be back for the shimmerwine! Enjoy yourself, share the 'Verse with others, that's the chance we have for a sequel. More folks=more movies or tv.

I hope you come to love this wonderful place as much as I do.
