Okay, the reactions I'm getting to the water-falling-from-the-sky thing ties in nicely with the previous imponderable.

One of my closest friendships is with a guy I met online. We both posted on a Buffy board and hit it off pretty much instantly, even though we were both on opposite sides of a massive argument about an event taking place in the Buffyverse. We started emailing each other, and became very close friends. Even funnier, his better half started writing to me so she could check out this Irish girl who at that stage was writing to her fella almost every day (they're English) and we ended up becoming really close friends too! Which had the guy pretty worried for a while since we started to team up and plot against him. Just a little. Only for fun. Honest!

*ahem* Anyway, the reason I mention this couple is because the guy is turned on by thunderstorms. Something both I and his better half have teased him mercilessly about! I just wondered if any other ponderers are the same? A heavy rain can be sexy, but thunder? Is it because thunder normally means rain, or is it something about the thunder itself? If it is the thunder, is that a guy thing? Any women out there fond of thunder?

Back to Internet friendships ... I met another close friend of mine on the same Buffy board! But since she lives in Ireland and we both know each other offline now I don't know if she counts. I know I've felt as close to online friends as I have to offline friends.

Magda, my sweet, have pleasant dreams!

Mavourneen, I actually had a visual of me trying to put a glass of beer on her head...and then the visual got all bumpy, confused, and violent. I don't think I would survive trying that!

"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

What? are we Dancing at Lughnasa? I look out the window here in fleshiest part of the Michigan Mitt and see the unending rain, sad because we're not in the Emerald Isle. Landscaping has ensued here at work and the lawn temporarily is no more. In its place the mud field of the peasants from Monty Python and the Holy Grail stretches out to the sidewalk. And the only thing in my brain are the altered words to a Sting song:

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of water
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we walk in the fields of mud

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of water
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of mud

Will you stay with me, will you be my love
Among the fields of water
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky
As we lie in the fields of mud

See the west wind move like a lover so
Upon the fields of water
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth
Among the fields of mud
I never made promises lightly
And there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left
We'll walk in the fields of mud
We'll walk in the fields of mud

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of water
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of mud
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of water
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of mud
When we walked in the fields of mud
When we walked in the fields of mud

Tristan, I hope the second date is like that. But maybe with the original lyrics restored.

eh?

mud, mud, glorious mud,
nothing quite like it
for soothing the blood
so follow me, follow,
Down to the hollow
where we shall wallow in glorious mud.

Now there's a flashback from my childhood. I think its about hippos, or some such.

Be a nice pretty and gather me kin along with ye. They're in Donnegal. Although my Goddaughter's in London now with her hub and kid, and her brother's an eternal student at Edinborough, my favorite cousin and her man still keep the homefires burnin'.

Quick story, then. My cousin (Germanish like me) married the Irishman and moved there. My cousin's father (my great uncle, German enough to make ChrisMoorhead quake) visited there a few times. But it only took the first visit for him to decide where he would want to have his ashes spread when the time came, so enraptured was he. And so it came to pass. I envy him to this day; I've yet to visit that most magical of all earthly kingdoms. *wistfully sighs*

Yeah, I'm up on the Modern non-stereo-typical Irish. The Scots on the other hand, I have to really pay attention to. And even then I never sure if they're really speaking Gaelic and I'm just nodding to keep from looking stoopid.

My cousin's brother--obviously also my cousin, but I wanted to disambiguate--was almost a professional photographer by trade, and could still give Ansel Adams a run for his money, and he took the most incredible pictures there. Craggy, moss-covered cliffs, but not too tall, overlooking the sea. Breathtaking. I have a picture of it in my mind's eye. Mist and wind. Better stop. Becoming misty myself.

Wow, Tristan. A date already? By that sentence you can kind of tell that I think it's a little fast, but who am I to say? I'll just say have fun and take it slow. How's that?

DTH: I love thunder. and lightning. Interestingly enough, Match.com has a thunder in the list of "turn ons" along with dancing, flirting, erotica, power, etc. So it's not all that uncommon to be turned on my thunder.

Xander: It's just bowling.

Willow: It's *bad* bowling. I-it's a double date, with all of us, and they're gonna know!

Xander: How are they gonna know?

Willow: It's a very intimate situation. It's all sexy with the smoke and the sweating and the shoe rental...

Xander: You're turned on by rented shoes?

Willow: That's not the issue.

Ok really love thunderstorms and I won't go TMI, but mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Sean Bean- Oh yes please, though I feel compelled to point out that the only way you'd get him on the porch is to bring his daughters with and make sure there was no Sheffield game on...If you saw making of Sharpe's Challenge- I dearly love him on the phone with his dad at like 2 am trying to get football results because the computer's crashed and he's not sure whats going on...Plus the discussion with his daughter about why, even though he said he'd bring a gift home and all, he is not capturing a monkey for her.
Super cute but a bit sad when he says he won't because the mom monkey will miss the baby and I'm not sure what she says( guessing it's something about mom not wanting the baby) but he says " even if the mom wouldn't care, the daddy monkey would." based on his divorce stuff..that's kinda sad.But a good sign he's a great dad....which makes him even hotter:)

I remember seeing the Lipizzaner Stallions on TV and, aside from the circus atmosphere instead of the staid nature of regular equestrian events, they were simply amazing. Their site says they came from the Andalusians. Another shrinkage attempt? Because to me they definitely appear to favor the Arabian side of the heritage when it comes to size. No?

Ok That's a first. I just caused a fight and had to break it up...sigh. NEVER wearing this sweater again! So here's what happened. I'm wearing a square necked sweater which I examined this morning to make sure it wasn't too low. I sometimes forget that many other people are taller and apparently though straight on it's fine, if you're around 6 feet there's a view of a some serious cleavage...so some tall kid I don't know comes by my class door and says " nice rack" which cause my 5th period boys ,who are coming up to the door at the time, to dive at the kid and begin punching. Got them separated and settled this, but I am never ever wearing this dratted thing again!!! argh I can't believe I had to sit there with the principal while we explain how the fight started and he's just looking at me ..he's cool and all, but asked me to be more careful about what I wear....great now I'm the slutty teacher(*(&^%)*&%^%&*(*#$ sorry just kind of embarrassed and irritated...ignore the venting rant!~

RugBug, I guess it does appear a bit quick. However, this is a trial run...we are old acquaintances who found we have lots in common and are going to meet for dinner to see what's what. Not one of those "let's get married tomorrow" things...just both os us looking to have a good time in each others' company. Thanks for the concern, though.

SBDB, not sure if anyone answered you, but yes, Photobucket is free. Does this mean we get to see you soon?!?

Thunderstorms. Yeppers, I am one of those guys. Not saying that when one happens I go hunting for females , but if I am in the company of a willing partner, it becomes that much more intense. Just something about the booming, the pressure, the wind, rain, hail, etc. Very primal.

Mavourneen...under the keg? I'm trying to picture that....

MSG, sorry to hear about the fight, but I do think it's kinda chivalrous (in an odd way) that one of your students would pummel another for a comment like that. I probably would have done the same thing in his shoes.

Aww, don't be upset msg! You are not responsible for the fact that most teenage boys are uncontrollable sacks of hormones. And it's kind of sweet that your class stood up for you. Even if it wasn't such a good idea to start punching the guy...

Back when I was training to teach computers, I had one teacher who could be very bitchy. She'd pretend to be friendly, but she could make some of the nastiest comments. Anyway, for our last class with her she gave us all advice on how to succeed as a trainer, since she was *always* keen to stress how successful she was. One thing she mentioned was that women who are big up front should never wear v-neck tops when teaching.

She gave me a dirty look when she said it. I'm kinda big up front. Yep, I was wearing a v-neck top. Damn woman made me feel like I was wearing a bikini or something! And have I mentioned that when I blush I practically glow in the dark? She had me all panicked about what I'd worn during my teaching practice sessions!

So yeah JQ, deadlines. I figured Thursday using MSG's tactics. Tell her I'm givin' her first shot at my time and depending on the answer she may stay gold or be told to piss off. I'm anticipating the blow off, but we'll find out. Thats fine. I think GND is rodeoing this weekend and there's a few movies I wouldn't mind seeing.

Thanks for the hugs NV...yeah I'd call Thurs and just say I was about to make plans and I remembered you had mentioned something so I thought I'd check in before I made them... and then I smack her. OK I'll wait and won't smack unless she hurts you...then she's losing some teeth!!!

So....any pics of this "serious cleavage?"

I am with JQ with the help for collecting evidance!

I am 6'1" here so I can get the better pictures! I promise I'll share JQ!

In all seriousness though. That student defended your honor. Yeah it was not a good thing that he punched the guy. But it means that your students respect you. Am I right in my thinking that these are "troubled Youths"? I can't remember for sure if tyhat is what was discussed, but if so then you have gotten through to at least one and that is a great accomplishment on your part.
I would just make sure you discuss with the entire class that while you appreciate the gesture, that it should not happen again. Let them know that you can handle a student with his inappropriate comments.

MSG

Kelkhil- yup they're "troubled" really more severe emotional disturbance and behavior disorder kids... I get why they did it and we've talked it through about letting me be in charge and handle things and all, mainly I'm just embarrased because the principal ended up involved.

As for pics...hmm you'll have to ask MisterG if he wants to part with any

Oh well- LOL you have to laugh...or apparently scream ( sorry sub next door just screamed at kids. Note to self never hire that sub!) I don't allow raised voices around my students. They get enough of that at home for the most part:(

Not necessarily shrinkage, just different goals. Andalusians have recently been separated into "PRE"...pure spanish bred...to distinguish them from the more mixed blooded horses. No matter, the Lipizzan and Andies are very closely related.

Hrmmm, casual date? Something fun. An activity. Bowling is good (although I was recently pondering this and realizing that I can't really bowl anymore...unless I learn how to with my left arm. That's should be enough amusement for just about anyone). Dancing is good. Anything that's not all talky talky. Talky talky is serious business in my book.

Ah, my distracted typing means I missed fight talk. Eek, MSG. That would be quite embarrassing. But such is life around teenage boys.

I've had a boss make a comment on my v-neck top before. I was surprised because: 1) I'm not very chesty 2) it wasn't that big of a V 3) she's much chestier (and shorter) than I and finally 4) she wear deeper Vs and shows off more cleavage all the time. I was a little offended that I got singled out under those circumstances. Whatever. Behold the wonder of my flat and sometimes bony chest. Heh...

If I had Teachers like you in High School I probably would have tried harder. They can tell when a teacher doesn't care and it is quite obvious that you do MSG!
You let them know that they have a chance and that is all they need some times!
