I'm still undecided as to Battlestar being the best show on TV. I love Dr Who and the re-imagined Battlestar about the same.

It just keeps getting better doesn't it?

I'm surprised they got off the planet so quickly though. I thought they'd be on it for a few more shows at least. I KNEW that wasn't Starbuck's kid!

I am really impressed with where they keep taking the show.

Man, that episode was just plain awesome. Completely rocked my world. I watched it twice. My roommate almost creamed his pants. My girlfriend yelled "Holy Sh*t" about 12 times.

Select to view spoiler:

Yea I called that not being her kid last week too. I didn't think they got off the planet too quickly, they were there for a long time it was just condensed into a little more than 4 episodes. I'm just glad things aren't going to immediatly go back to oridinary and they'll ignore that it ever happened. Next weeks show should be great.

Anyway...that shot of Galactica being pummelled by all the basestars right before Pegasus showed up reminded me a lot of the shot of Serenity in Out of Gas. So lonely and small.

Um, spoilers....

Yeah, I remember ever since Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, just hating Ellen Tigh. I was actually sad to see her go, and it's kinda sad that since the fleet was being rescued from New Caprica, that Anders and the Colonel felt the need to kill her. Still sad to see her go for some reason, but I can't figure out why.

I guess I kinda knew that Pegasus wasn't going to be part of the fleet for long. And Baltar didn't grab Hera...what's the deal with that? I don't know, seeing Galactica jump into orbit, launch Vipers, and then jump again, I was like, yeah! Still dissappointed that Adama got rid of the 'stache. Sorry for my rambling, I blame the alcohol. Good episode.

PAPADAMA sure has cajones (sp?) that was pretty amazing when

he jumped Galactica into the atmo and out again... sheer guts! nearly a crazy Ivan of sorts...

As for Ellen.. I am sad to see her go.. she was a flake.. but she loved him.. and the actress who portrays her is ab so lute ly amazing!! she will be missed...

Baltar is off to the Cylon world, where we will get to see more about him, and where he survives.. if he had gone to Galactica.. well out the airlock for him!!! (thanks Mal)

Yea, Ellen biting the dust was pretty shocking. I guess we can expect more alcohol abuse out of the Col. now.

So whats Lees job gonna be now? CAG again? Tigh's old job? Is Gaita gonna take over for Helo? The next show should be pretty interesting.

I was wondering the exact same thing with regards to Lee. I have a feeling he will be second in command by season's end. As far as Gaita goes if you watched the preview for next week it looks as though he is going to take the bullet in Baltar's absence.

I'm hoping the cylons DON'T bring back Co. Tigh's AWFUL wife as one of them. I thought that was the ballsyest thing he's ever done on the series. Now, Starbuck needs to buck-up and move on past the kid, grab a cigar and start playing cards. Hmmm...almost where they were before "New Caprica" minus the poor Pegasus, of course.

I don't know if Starbuck will ever grab a cigar again, I had read that Katee Sackhoff quite smoking at the end of season two and had it writen in that Starbuck would stop smoking as well. Of course, I haven't heard anything concrete. But I'm liking the new Starbuck!

Since the show is supposed to be focused on the idea that there is only one Battlestar, hence the title, it is only fitting that the Pegasus would not be around forever. I'm surprised the writers held on to it for as long as they did.

Pegasus went out like a champ. What a great scene it was watching her take out two basestars during her death throes. That little moment when Lee says thank you was just the icing on the cake.

A-fracking-men. God, what an episode.

Select to view spoiler:

Ellen! Oh gods... what can I say? I always enjoyed Ellen. She was fun. And then... she finally loved Tigh the way he always loved her. Whatever happened during the year we missed, something... and she loved him, but she still frakked up. And now... Ellen!

If BSG doesn't get the effects emmy this year -- or at LEAST get nominatated, and that is a generous LEAST -- then there is something wrong witht he universe. The effects in this episode where completely amazing.

There were just so many little moments that made this episode amazing:
- Laura taking her chair back, heck yeah! "I'm ready to leave now."
- The mind-frak at the end with starbuck's kid. I knew it COULDN'T be her kid, and was really anxious as to how they were going to end the storyline. They did well.
- D'Anna/Three deciding not to set of the nuke after the found baby Hera, aka the poptart.
- Geata and the gun.

But, despite all that, and the AWESOME battle scenes, but favortie part of the episode still goes to Tigh and Ellen. Kate Vernon's preformance was amazing, the best she's ever given. Michael Hogan's was so understated, sad. I understand why he had to do it. What she did was, to him, unforgivable. And not just to him, for all of the resistance. If he didn't kill her now, she would have suffered a much worse fate at the hands of the rightous survivors, and then died anyway. So, in a way he spared her, but it hurt him so much, and she'd dead, and... ah! Ellen! I miss her. :-(

I am loving this show. I don't understand how it has made it to its third season and this is the first I've heard of it.

With that in mind, would one of you nice Browncoats answer a couple of questions for me? And forgive me if I don't yet have the lingo down pat...

1. Are the "skin jobs" physiologically indistinguishable from the humans? I mean, even upon autopsy, is there no difference?

2. Are the Cylons networked together? If one witnesses an event, are they all aware of said event? *I'm on track with downloading, but that's not what I mean*

3. What was with mustache shaving? Is that BSG's version of a playoff beard?

Thanks.

The writers have beens omewhat inconsistant on this issue. In the mini-series, Gaius Baltar said that if you analyze them enough, then you can see they are synthetic, but he might have been talking about of his ass. He did develop some sort of cylon detection method, but it was a long and tedious process, and somewhere along the way it seems to have been abandonned. However, during surgery.autopsy, they appear to be exactly the same. I think. I'm pretty sure.

As far as I can tell, no, they are not. Cylons are not the borg. In Exodus 1, the resistance choses not to kill the borther Cavill model, because they fear he will download and tell the others. If they were all networked, they he wouldn't need to download to tell the others. So, no, they aren't exactly networked.

Uh... what's a playoff beard? The shaving of the 'stache means that the old Adama is back, baby! He's returning to his old role, picking up the burdens he had layed to rest when they settled on New Caprica. It's a metaphorical thing. And also awesome.

Yeah, now that I think about it, that was a dumb question. Now, I remember last week's episode where the cute little asian injured, but did not kill another Cylon in the hope of preventing knowledge of her presence from being disseminated.

Does this apply to the "bullet heads" (term for the metal Cylons, I think) as well?

LOL. In many sports, when a team makes the playoffs, players will not shave until they win the championship or are knocked out. From you explanantion, this sounds (to me) quite similar. That is, if Olmos didn't have the mustache before the settlement of New Caprica.

Thanks again.

IIRC, Baltar's cylon detection method was abandoned after he gave Sharon a clean bill of health, only for her to turn out to be a cylon after all when she shot Adama. But the test was actually correct, Baltar lied about the results after prompting from phantom Six. I seem to recall it was also revealed at some point - before they abandoned the program outright - that Baltar had decided to pronounce everyone who was tested as clean. I'm not sure that his full motivation for this was ever explained.

The biggest inconsistency as far as I'm concerned is that it's kind of hard to imagine that they're physiologically indistinguishable when we also saw in the miniseries that when you frak one of them, her spine glows. Just how exactly could that happen with a completely human anatomy?

Definitely the best show on TV right now in the Sci Fi genre and since that's my favorite genre it's the best damn show on TV period. I love the new series way better than the original. I'm also glad that it's on the SciFi Channel so we know it 1.) Won't get shown out of sequential order 2.) Won't get preempted for some stupid sports broadcast. 3.) Won't get cancelled by some moron in a suit that has no clue. (Are you listening Mr. Murdoch? Are you listening you bunch of stupid, slimy turds in suits at FOX? (I hate getting this show a day after the rest of the world that's the US.)

Select to view spoiler:

That jump-into-the-atmosphere was awe-inspiring, and I loved the "revers air-burst" when it jumped back out (all the displaced air suddenly stopping and rushing back into the vacuum, shredding everything that wasn't nailed down).

And then the Centurions getting taken out by missiles. Overkill, but sooooo satisfying.

I want a pic of the tower exploding, so I can write PWNED on it and use it as a post-image.

Pegasus' death was glorious, befitting a warrior. When I saw her, all tattered and burning, bearing down on that Basestar, all I could think was Ivanova's rant from Babylon 5: "I am death incarnate, and the last thing you will ever see. . . God. Sent. Me."

She took down three Basestars. Okay, Lee/the crew get credit for two of them (one by barrage and the other by ramming), but that third one was all Pegasus. She threw that hangar pod on purpose ("with my dying breath I spit at thee"). A ship is more than just metal and spare parts --she wanted to kill those bastards.

I wish we'd seen more of the aerial dogfight, though I understand the time restrictions. I think this would've been the first fair fight: the Raiders' lock-breaking agility wouldn't have been a factor in the atmosphere & gravity.

Yep, for sure one of my favorite all time scenes. In the words of Mal:"They ain't gonna see this coming". Bet the toasters never in a million years would have thought that move up. Only a nut job human would do something like that.

One thing I am curious about though is how/why Baltar is still seeing the imaginary #6. Did anybody notice how she knew that the baby was Hera, but the real #6 didn't?

Just popping in to say I like it, and after the new eps currently being shown are on DVD, I'll be able to participate in this discussion...oh wait! Then I'll be in the same boat-just a year later...

I think I still slightly prefer LOST but BSG is quickly gaining ground. Last week's episode was phenomenal aside from one minor problem (so as not to spoil, I'll just say that Kara's confrontation should not have had time to take place before Anders caught up, but I can overlook this).

Dr. Who is another fine program that keeps getting better and better.

BATTLESTARMINNESOTIA

I know this is a Firefly board, but in a way, Galactica is the show carrying the battle standard of daring, genre-challenging sci-fi forward after Firefly was cancelled. Like I've said before, it's not as perfectly constructed and nuanced as Firefly was, but it's also a lot more ambitious in its scope. So to join the accolades

A-frakking Amen to this season number 3.0 Wow!

Select to view spoiler:

When they're all pinned down and it's looking hopeless, that jerky camera action pans up and WAY WAY up there you see....the Galactica in free fall in the atmo! Oh man I nearly fell out of my chair! And the little "thank you" To Pegesus, the Winged Horse, using her severed wing to swat one more basestar aside. Amazing. And Tigh...poor Tigh. That little bit at the end,

"Not all of 'em"

Man, how much can one guy suffer?

Can't wait to see what happens now.

Seems like every episode is touching apon real world themes these days. Anyone notice in the last episode(Collaborators I think) The theme of a president passing laws to illegally detain & try people... where have I seen that before..

Its not only the best damn show currently on TV it has valid social commentary.

Last season I wouldn't have been able to tell you which show I liked better (mostly due to BSG's rut from ep 13-16), but this year I can easily say that (for me) BSG outstrips Lost in pretty much every way. I'm holding out hope that Lost will improve.

Battlestar Glactica I think is definitly one of the all time great sci-fi shows & one of my favorite TV shows in any genre but Firefly is definitly better, plus you have to admit not every BSG episode is excellent(there all really good still) while I found every episode of Firefly excellent.

My favorite is Firefly,then BSG,then 4400,then CSI:Miami, then Lost

I'm one of those who has seen the original Battlestar Galactica series (when it originally aired, lol). It was superficial, qua story; and the characters were equally shallow. But so was I; and I loved it. And now we have the new BSG. I have matured considerably over time (or so I hope); and lo and behold, BSG grew right along with me! :) A real story, with real depth. And actors to match! Gripping; can't-tear-oneself-away-from-the-screen kinda tense.

In earnest, BSG is unbe-frakkin'-lievably good! It's got all the excitement a grown-up boy can dream of. It ain't no FireFly, though. BSG has bonded with my mind; Firefly with my heart. That's the difference. That don't mean BSG is bad.

And poor and brave Ellen Tigh. Finally did the right thing. And it was the wrong thing. Go figure.

Then there was Kara. I don't think I've ever seen her so vulnerable and robbed. Not so afraid of losing something that she wouldn't try havin' it. Then lost it anyway.

...deep sigh...

I firmly believe they show FireFly in Heaven. But when the old man steps out for a moment, I'm sure they watch BSG, too.

CYBERSNARK

Only thing that could make BSG better would be guest appearances by some of our BDStars.

'Specially since Galactica lends itself to repeat appearances, both because of the multiple Cylons and the finite numbers of refugees.

Imagine Alan or Nathan as Viper pilots, or Ron as captain of a refugee ship, or Morena as a Cylon (just to get poor Baltar caught between her and Six ).

I'd love to see some of BDH on BSG too! Maybe Adam as a cylon (they've yet to have a manly man skinjob).
Frankly, I'd be surprised if it never happened. Stargate has had both Jewel and Morena, plus Summer's role in Mamoth...if I didn't know better I'd say Scfi knows the power of the Firefly fan base and wants to lure us to the other projects by any means. But regardless of theories, BSG has numerous Firefly influences (gerenal appearance of all special effects, Kaylee=Cally, Serenity's cameo in the mini-series) and having one of its actors would be the icing on the cake!
