Yes, they literally warn all new employees that I am a witch. Not that I'm Pagan, not even that I'm Wiccan, but a witch. The gals who told me said the words used were "Oh, Rose... Yeah, well, she's a witch." I expected the words "May we burn her?" to follow, I really did.
And actually most of my sacred days do not coincide with other holidays. You'd think they'd be happy that I'm willing to work their holidays so I can have mine off, but they just focus on the reason that they think is strange. The only one that's ever a problem is Samhain, which is on Halloween, and all the mummies want that off so they can take their kids out. Bah. All others are fine, though Yule is close to Christmas (it's also my birthday most years) I've never had much trouble getting it off, mostly because I throw a gigantic fit if I have to work on my birthday.

People have put a negative connotation with the word witch for a long long time, and though it is really sad, people will remain uneducated rather than finding out for themselves because it is the easier way to live. The media doesn't help either.

Sometimes my boys sleep in until 8 or 9, but sometimes they get up at 6 when I leave for work. At least there is quiet time/naptime every day to give at least some sort of break. *hugs*

I have one pagan friend but she's jsut coming out of the broom closet after years of being Catholic.It's different for me ,because I've never been anything but, & have nothing to unlearn !And I really don't want to be her teacher ! It seems I'm usually put in that position & sometimes just want an other witch to be with without the reponsibility !
The pagan community here is very very very pretebntious or it can be teens trying to upset their parents.Either one isn't my scene ! I've been a solitary for the last 15 years or so because of it !

LOL RIMG interesting you assumed they don't have their own pipes:) Whatever you're smoking, I'd bet they're dealing. Mostly it's a combination of 2 kids who are off their meds and 3 kids who just got out of juvie ( juvenile detention center) for gang activity. They're a bit hyper and such. I can see why You'd read it over & over.It's a wondeful book. Books abound in my house to the point that as we're looking at new houses to buy we realized we need a large basement which we will have to line completely ( every room) with bookshelves to accomodate the majority of my books ( to place them all on shelves we calculated I'd need 25 floor to ceiling shelves about 6 feet wide)
