Hi, NVG,
Magda is restricted right now on her computer time. I just got a note that she's at the library using their Internet connection.

It seems pretty quiet here on the Imponderables. I have been checking out the 76th site because it's been a few days since I've had a chance to read through the threads.

I'm looking forward to a 3 day weekend. Do you have to work on Monday?

I just found out yeaterday that we get holiday pay for Monday. Gives me some recoup time from Sunday. I guess it ain't supposed to get above 25degrees and we're ballin' Sunday morning. Last time I strained my knees and was walking bow legged for a few days. Thats what I get for not stretchin' huh.

Be sure and do some stretches before you get started this time. You're sure you want to go out ballin' when it's 25 degrees? It sounds might chilly to me. Won't the paint freeze? Or is that 25 degrees Celsius?

Oh its farenheit, but it ain't like the pussy speedballers on ESPN. We're down and dirty woodballers who take every shooting day and have serious fun with it. Though, I did get hit a few times before and had no breakage, its still better than rotting indoors.

You might need some armor to protect yourself from those frozen ice balls that you're shooting. I've heard that being hit by a paintball does hurt a mite. I would think one with no breakage could hurt quite a bit. I know you are a manly man, but Ooow. Well, as long as it's fun.

Yeah, but if its cold enough ya don't feel it. It hurts more to see the welt the next day in my opinion.
But really. I just like the fact that it is an outdoor activity that most anyone can enjoy. But ours seems to be more of a game for bigboys who like to get dirty like little boys. Its fun.

And JP, I'm hopin' to have the same problem in (thinks)another two hours or so.

NVG,
If there's welts, that's too much pain for me. I understand that it can be appealing to guys and a some strong women, but I'm pretty sure I won't be picking up the hobby. I'd much prefer a shooting game on the computer where no one is shooting back at me.

JPStargazer, Aaaaw, January 21st it right around the corner with more BSG.

SpacemanSpiff, very interesting super powers. I'll be backing away when I see you drinking carbonated drinks that might cause an unexpected belch.

Its all good. The game's not for everyone. But it seems easier to convince people to play once they've been out. Besides, its quite a bit different from the local course games. We're in the rough using natural cover as opposed to some fake ass course cover.
I have to admit that its very gorram fun to watch too.

I've never thought of it as a spectator sport. Are there bleachers or can people run around through the line of fire without being in the game? I've got both images running through my mind.

remember the Civil War pictures that have citizen spectators a "safe" ditance away? Thats pretty much it. there's a no fire zone facing the vehicles. Test fires can be made after a game, but only away from the vehicles (obviously). I was considering playing Combat Correspondant soon. Might have to post some vid for everyone to see.

Oh yeah. We do allow roaming spectators, but they have to call the shots as a ref.

In warmer weather I could see that as being a fun afternoon watching the game. The hard part would be if you saw a sneak attack coming at a friend. I would be sooooo tempted to yell. I'm sure that's against the rules.

But it works for after the engagement. My sisters went along last time and were able to point out many weak and strong points for both sides. really helps with debriefing a team especially when the team screws the pooch. Its kinda good to get a personal critique on your movement. An outside eye can see where the team may be lax. We really ain't to the point of scrimmaging for real, but we're workin' on it.

That does add to the addictive factor. Whenever you are constantly trying to get better and improve a sport, it does become all consuming especially when it's so much fun. Do you play with the same guys on your team? Did you know them before you started to play?

John my tat guy is pretty much the only one I knew before hand. The teams switched for each game but it was clear who could play at what positions. Its all basic squad movement.

So far I'm up for a heavy gunner position in the squad. I like it, but I've gotta build a gun specifically for the position.

It's probably a good idea to switch sides. You get to know people better when they're the enemy one time and then on your side the next time. I remember you mentioning on an earlier thread that you're building your own gun. How's it coming? Have you started it yet?

Actually I'm learning on my first Tippmann brand gun, but the next one already has a designation and facsia. Pretty easy one you figure out what you're dealin' with. Its gonna have a G36profile; my homage to the 76th. Eventually the marker I have now will closely resemble the UMP Mal carried in War Stories.

ADD: Thanks for the company VE. I gotta be gone for the weekend. Sucks, but most of my work got done. Have a great weekend!

Twenty balls a second. That'll be the high rate of fire for the G36. Thats just downright scary.

I know so little about guns, but I do know that the G36 is the weapon of choice for the 76th. 20 balls a second does sound powerful fast. I agree downright scary.

Nighty night. Have a great weekend, too.
