Thanks, JQ. Hugs to you, too.

HK, you've given Penguin a headache.

NVG, sorry to hear that the younger team with more practice got the best of your team. I think your friends will be eager to hear about any ways to improve. Now's the time to throw out some ideas for improvements.

James, sorry there was "nothing to see." Come back when you have something to say.

Oh! Wait! That's not what you meant! *snikker*

Are you sure?

Quote:

it's really the effect not the intent that's measured.

But the effect changes with each unique perspective. So how can I be at once tempting and not tempting (and anywhere in between)? That state of being defies reason and reality, unless I am Schrödinger's Kitten. Which, I suppose I could be. Nonetheless, I still assert that it is the one doing the perceiving who is also doing the tempting of one's self; allowing one's self to "feel" a certain way based on their interpretation (and extrapolation) of their perception. An object doing nothing but being perceived cannot actually take this action.
(By the way, this is what I sound like when I am tired and have a migrane. Hee hee.)

Two points here.

1. Steak is tempting to those that like steak whether the steak is trying to be tempting or not. How a steak is prepared furthermore has a direct effect on how tempting it is. Same with cheesecake so don't even go there...

2. I think we're pretty much all in agreement that you are tempting {always} and not tempting never {ever}. A few of probably think you fart cute.

Now as for being Schraedinger's kitten that just adds to the geek chic value. And I think you flipped the reasoning behind your action at a distance argument. Observing may cause a reaction, but an action does not necessarily require observation to occur.

Evening, all. Been away for a spell...should be back tomorrow.

First, hello to Mangolo! Don't think I have seen you on an Imponderable thread before. Hope you stick around!

To everyone else, I give hugs and kisses and hope that the week is going good so far.

NVG, you are a natural leader...you will do well.

HK, JQ...y'all just crack me up.

Hell's Kitten, you may not deliberately enthrall those around you, but it does happen. My worship of you is of the artist and of all the wonderful sides of you that show through in your photos. (yeah, it's late and that sentence does not look "proper English" to me...) That may sound like crap or a load of b.s., but 'tis the truth. In the birthday thread, when you mentioned you had a "birthday picture", I was happy...but as the artist declared it inapropriate, I was left to imagine. You are just an awesome individual, and I am happy I know of your existence.

MSG...hehehe...catch the electical cord.

Qing ren! Been a bit crazy around here, eh? Two-hundred and how-many??

Mavs, Zeek, Rugbug, JTD, Odds, DTH, VE, Penguin, Yinyang, Nico (hope you are still safe!), RIMG...oh, please don't let me have forgotten anyone...good night all, and I hope to be "back" tomorrow!

Mav: I agree with Mangolo. What's scarier is that I can think of at least parent who did have that happen to them (student of mine gave birth while she was in 8th grade). I also have a friend who is my age who is actually a grand-uncle (his sister had a child while she was young, and the cycle repeated with the daughter). So yeah, it's even possible for you to be a great-grandmother before you're 60.

I've been living on Hamakua for 15 years. Mostly working with the Hawaiian immersion folks developing Hawaiian language television and films. Before that I did a bunch of documentary and TV work on Kilauea until my wife found out what I was doing

She saw this clip of me and my days working out there were over:

She said "No father of my children is going to work on top of an active volcano!"

For the past few years I've been doing all kinds of film and TV work, but mostly focused on my interns and my own film.

Too much talk story?

mornin' Imponderables.

*wanders unawares into the hugbomb trap and trips it, becoming surrounded in Neko-hugs*

All in all, a good way to start the morning.

Have there been any ponderables in the last thread and a half or so, or am I dumb like a moose and missed them? I can't think of any good ones, just wanted to see if there were any out there.

Gotta do training today and tomorrow, 0800 - 1400, so I won't be around hardly at all. Y'all have a good day.

Morning, all!

MSG..."lick the light socket"...hehe...any of them fall for that?

Needing a ponder, eh? Hmm.
This may have been covered, but if so, it has been awhile.
How do you deal with pain and illness? Your own, I mean. Do you seek aid and pampering from others or do you crawl into a corner to lick your own wounds?

It's not much, but it might get us back to pondering...

I was myself wondering if we should change the name of the thread from Imponderables to something like the Virtual Watercooler. That way, if someone has a ponder ( like NV did yesterday re: leadership) it can be posed...otherwise it is a place to post to check in and meet & greet.

Illness? I'm mixed. When I'm sick I generally want to be left alone. The sicker I am, the more likely I am to curl into a ball.
As I get older (no comments from the studio audience, JQ) I find I am getting to like being pampered a bit by my guys at home.
I guess it is so rare for them to see me really incapacitated that when it happens their concern is quite touching.

*I liked the lick the light socket game, too!

it's not something i think i could really comment on myself, i'd really reckon other people's views on it would probably be differant to mine.

my reckoning is that i'm inclined to mindless male pride and stoicism with the big stuff, but a bit of a sympathy-seeking-wuss when it comes to the trivial stuff.

last time i was really hurt was just before christmas at work, at the time it happened i did the 'manly' thing and dealt with the situation at hand, soon as that was done i kinda went to piece's and sat in a wee daze doing whatever anyone suggested

afterwards i was very much hating anyone making referance to it, and was not fond of the sympathy, but i think that's more because it was my beloved face that got mauled, and i didn't want to be reminded of it

with little scratches and bruises, ache's and pains and so on, i tend to want people to notice and be sympathetic, until they actually DO notice and be sympathetic, and then i wish they hadn't.

what can i say, i'm not very consistant.

like this morning, spent the whole day in a foul mood because my alarm clock screwed up, and the snooze button lasted an hour instead of 7 minute's, then all it took at the end of the day was a glance and a smile and i've been in a great mood since, really active sorta mood, went and started tracking down people i regret loosing touch with as soon as i got home.

takes the littlest things to make a differance ^^

i think i rambled...

Hey GrandMavourneen! Hey all!

Virtual Watercooler sounds like a really nice name for a thread. Makes me feel all friendly and chatty just thinking about it.

Plus everyone knows the raciest gossip is found at the watercooler

EDIT: I get very emotional when I'm sick, so I usually lock myself away in my room. That way I don't burst into tears in front of anyone else. I'm a bit of a recluse at times anyway.

Spiders are like cats, I think, MSG. They always know who doesn't want them around and then go find that person.

I've always had to look after myself, so I tend to go curl up in a corner and sleep when I'm sick or injured. If I can that is, most times lately its just a matter of pushing through it.

hey there Mangolo (welcome), MSG *hugs*, oddsbodskins, JQ , Tristan , mavs *hugs*, VE, DTH (there is going to be a sort of homage to you in my 76th backstory), Mircea, EDIT: MAL4PREZ !!!!! (here: )

I usually withdraw even further into myself when in pain or ill. Working two jobs, I can usually not afford to let it slow me down (think about that the next time you go out to eat). As for mental/emotional pain, I tend to block everyone out and drown myself in it. Recently I have been better about talking it out instead of keeping it bottled up inside.

I haven't seen it yet, as the US gov't doesn't like YouTube, but I am pretty sure I would say that, as that is something I have yet to experience in life. If you die, what a way to go, eh? Burned alive by rock so hot it is liquid. :evil engineer laugh:

Mavs - you ain't old, quit frettin yourself *offers to return the warming cuddles from the pub earlier as comfort*

A somewhat-continuance from a thread on the 76th forums (still relevant here though):

"But yeah, shooting clay pigeons, I think, yeah, go for that. Shooting clay pigeons, they’re fers! Come round your house, whiz through. They do nothing, they don't even eat flies! You know? Spiders eat flies, so they're all right, keep them, you know? Flies don't eat fall, so kill 'em! And clay pigeons - everyone shoots them in the air. Wait 'til they land!"

Did one of my spy-der-bots "accidently" get out again?

Spiders are evolutionarily stupid...if they had evolved to look like cute little bunnies or seals then no one would want them dead, but since they look like a cross between alien killing machines and some sort of devil they have to be eliminated

RUGBUG

Ah, jeez. I'm not encouraging people to be flippant with their greetings, am I? I just don't like leaving people out and I can't remember everyone.

So, Hiya! to each and everyone of you.

Eek! Not your face. It's a nice face. Not that it would be any less of a bother if it wasn't a nice face. Faces should be left out of any mauling, if at all possible.

Ummm...I'm stoic to a fault. I don't like sympathy. I could be lying there with my guts spilling out a deep and gaping wound and I would be all, "I'm fine." I might even be tempted to pull out a little Monty Python. Lightening the situation can is rarely a bad thing in my book.
