I've been meaning to start this thread for a while since it's been *ages* since we played this game.

Okay, the game is played thus: Take any Firefly or Serenity quote and translate it into Chinese using a translation site like Babelfish - http://babelfish.altavista.com - THEN translate the translation BACK into English. Post the quote in this thread - the more mangled it is the better - and the rest of us have to guess what the original quote is.

Person who guesses correctly gets to post the next quote. You can give hints if you manage to stump all of us.

Got that? Okay. Here's a quote to start us off.

"I see only fluid this urinates the refusin water hole to pay our our wage!"

Gotta be "The only fluid I see here is the puddle of piss refusing to pay us our wage."

Okay, let me look for a quote to use, now...

*edit* Here we go:
"I thought tells him, is the insult to the neurosis lowlife community"

And I think calling him that is an insult to the psychotic lowlife community...

And now...

"Very good, my day does not adopt you certainly seriously to approach middle."

That question is best answered with a quote:

"I just want to be able to add, 'Captain, FFF.net Grammar Police' to my sig!"

Dong ma? :)

Okay, on to your line. It's gotta be:

"If you take advantage of her sexually, you are going to burn in a special level of hell. The level reserved for child molesters and people who talk at the theater."

The translation seems way off, though. I usually wait for confirmation. Seems like the thing to do. But okay, I'll forego that politeness this time; here's mine:

"You are conceivable I extremely to force the reason not right?"

Yeah, Babel Fish really did a number on this one! I have no idea where the bit about the peaceful elephant came from.

Hmm, how to give a hint without giving it away? Try these: for "do not see" read "see". For "wriggles" read "willies". For "for a long time" read "as long as".

P.S. I'm really liking this game, but it doesn't seem to be attracting a lot of participation. Maybe we should do a little primer on how to use Babel Fish. That might encourage a few more folks to give it a try.

P.P.S. Asarian, I'm still not getting yours either. Maybe it's just too short a line. It sort of feels familiar, if you know what I mean, but nothing's clicking...

Got it! :)

"See, morbid and creepifying I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like."

Bablefish left creepifying; but when I changed it to "creepy", I got kinda what you wanted (sans the elephant, btw; but close enough, I reckon).

Mine? It's from "Trash".

P.S. Yes, I like this game. It's like firefly hangman, only a mite more challenging.

Maybe if you spell it 'quiet-like"? Or maybe it's trad vs. simp? I've been using the simplified option, my own self. (Yes, I had to change 'creepifying' to 'creepy'. Wouldn't have been much of a challenge if I left that unchanged, would it?)
