Honestly, it's when people view it as some sort of obligation that valentine's day becomes ridiculous - you're "supposed" to have a date and you're "supposed" to treat/be treated by your girlfriend/boyfriend (RESPECTIVELY - aka "treat the girlfriend, be treated by the boyfriend"), and if you don't have a date, it's a stupid holiday anyways because you're jaded. Lighten up, everyone! Share the love, be it romantic or platonic!

My 3-year-old daughter was mucho excited about Valentine's this year. She fell to pieces in tears earlier this week because they forcasted a bit of snow for us. She thought that if the weather was bad they would cancel Valentine's Day. It's tough to explain to a 3-year-old that it doesn't work that way.

I can relate, Milford.

My 7yr old daughter dissolved into tears this morning because it was a snowday. They were to have their Valentines party at school. It was all I could do not to laugh out loud. Last week she was in tears because school wasn't cancelled for a snowday.

I'll make it up to her. Cookin' dinner for my girls tonight. My wife says I spoil 'em, the way I see it I've got 4-5yrs tops before my girls are at that age where they hate me, so I'm making the best of the 'good' years.

and for those myriad doubters, a day is a day, if it's special it's because you make it special, if it's miserable it's because, well, you guessed it, who cares what the corporations get out of it, that's their look-out.

after all, nice as it would be, EVERY day can't be special, and whether it boost's card sales or not, there's something a *little* bit special about people all over the shop (haha! so far so freudian! well at least i make me laugh =P ) looking out for each other, looking to share a little love ^^
