I just happened to be in the neighborhood...and heard your urgent request for a brick upside the head. But I must say, I like JQ's pic a lot.

You wanna shine that penny? Boy... I really wish I could play .wav files, cause I have a few choice ones from the drill instructor in Full Metal Jacket I'd love to aim your way.

With love, of course...

Shining the penny isn't a euphemism for something else, is it? I'd hate for anyone to get confused.

OH you know we should compile a list of euphemisms for that kind of activity...then we could all use them:) Plus it'd be fun to see what everyone comes up with

I've got
"playing cards"
"hooking up"
"slip-n-slide"
" nudge nudge wink wink"
"a little bit of"
"killin time"

Anyone else got any unusual ones??

My favorites:

Wrassle
Grapple
Circle the wagons
Roast the hog
Bake some bread
Churn some butter
Wand Dang Doodle (Howlin' Wolf Song)
Start a riot
Tenderizin' cube steaks
and
Makin' Bacon

Strange that most are food related. That's why, its lunchtime.

I'm guessing most of those posted are euphemism's for co-op mode, for which i don't know many euphemism's (people over just out and say it) but when it comes to the single-player, I can think of one or two:

Bashing the Bishop
Choking the Chicken
Shaking Hands with the One-Eyed Snake

Since we're on the subject, I'm reminded of a conversation I was havin' with John from Outsiders. We were talkin' about relationships. He's been with the same woman for the last seven years through thick and thin, good and bad. But he told me that he's had more than a few temptations seein' as he runs a tattoo shop and see's/touches all manner of women all the time. But the thing that got me was when he said no matter what, he loves her enough not to cheat. And even if they did break up he'd rather "Fly Solo" than run around lookin' aimlessly for the next SO. He mentioned that having an addictive personality (something I too consider), he'd more than likely turn into a slut and catch god knows what, whether it be an actual disease or the terrible drama sickness this town is famous for.

I just thought it was funny to find a friend who thinks the same as me about that subject.

Kinda sucks havin' friends' voice of reason against the whole man-whore idea.

Kinda reassuring too.

ADD: Reset button. Priceless.

If anything ever happened between MsQ and me, I wouldn't look for anyone else to marry. I also can't imagine flying totally solo for very long either. I can picture myself wandering aimlessly not looking for anyone but ending up in several short and long term relationships. But that's just so much speculation. I might just end up a fk machine like your friend imagines himself and die horribly of a detestable STD.

Great. Now I gotta be politically correct with infections. Lemme tell you it was a switch to get from VD to STD. Now it's STI. To say nothing of forgetting the IUD because of the DUI. Abstinance is bliss.

I don't know about bliss. Monogamy is something I'm shootin' for. But it seems more important to actually start a relationship first. Honestly, I don't know if there is anyone I trust enough for casual sex. Guess that's the sign that it's gonna be awhile.

I'm suprised "killing a kitten" isn't on the list yet.Other than that, I don't know of any not said.

Yes, it was changed to infections because diseases sounded too permenent, and most std/i can be treated and cleared up (or so they say).

You were busy trying to get yourself lit on fire. It happens.

The other reason why they made the switch from STD to STI (though I'm still gonna say STD, and Pluto is too a planet!) is because things like chlamydia and gonorrhea didn't fit the definition of a disease

Quote:

A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms

but rather the definition of an infection.

Quote:

Invasion by and multiplication of pathogenic microorganisms in a bodily part or tissue, which may produce subsequent tissue injury and progress to overt disease through a variety of cellular or toxic mechanisms.

Whatever.

(Definitions found at http://www.answers.com)

Oh, and before I forget - having the fire alarm siren blare right above the computer you were innocently working at during your off-hour (and a half) is annoying (not to mention a little painful).

My favourite term, cuz it sounds so... nice:

"to avail myself of myself"

My co-worker has many euphemisms. Many. Inordinately so. One that made me laugh loudest was during one of our more standard conversations in the lab:

"Yeah, I play an instrument........ I play the skin flute."

Need any company in there? I think I am in a similar predicament.

I can generally make most any statement into a euphamism given the right inflection, but that is lost here. Some of my favorite for one player time are "having a staff meeting" and "spreading the mayo", both from Bevis & Butthead IIRC. For co-op, "horizontal mambo" was always one of my favorites.

I think the whole point of the blanket is to keep away those that are not worth wasting time on, and besides, since we already have the blanket, all we need is pillows and a matress and we're set Or just a blanket, sometimes that's all you need. Or a countertop. Or coffee table. Or wall. You get the idea.
